LBT#1 : Mandatory Maintenance! (2 player ONLY!)Richasackboy
Hey, I'm back!

Description: Take a friend aboard this old cargo freighter and start cleaning up! There's a lot of mess, but surprisingly there are a lot more obstacles than mess! Features 18 two player challenges a big explosion at the end. A secret room containing two prize bubbles near the beginning requires 4 players - however, this part is optional. Players have to act fast and be careful - there are only a few infinite life checkpoints around!

Warning! Some puzzles contain permanent switches. I don't recommend messing around - it might screw up the level. (checkpointsare activated, so no worries as of now... I think?

Well, this is an entry to the Little Big Workshop February Contest, and I spent a LOT of time on it. I think I'm happy with it, but I dunno, some people might hate it, some people might like it. The level has to be VERY cooperative, and I've added some lights that activate when a player come near so the player knows which button to step on etc.

Please take a look at this! I'm beggin' y'alls!

I've got infinite F4F for now, but don't push me with bomb survivals. =P

Just finished playing this one and I really loved your opening sequence. Very cool looking. I like the 2x idea as well and the idea of going into a ship for clean up work is cool too.

Your special effects lights were nicely done too.

The areas that I didn't like as much were that you had a lot of flat green material areas with little decoration (Although I have to say your reduced sized portholes on the checkpoints is brilliant) and not a lot of lighting in the level itself. Seemed flat in many places. The camera for the first player to cross the electrified bridge is a little tricky and if you could move it a little to the right it might help (the angle not literally to the right)

Some of the 2x challenges were pretty easy but I could see you tried to make it more difficult in some places and I liked that a lot.

Nice level overall. I gave it 4 stars and tagged it brilliant.

Thanks for sharing it and hopefully more people will check it out.

So... much... dust... x.x

Well anyway, this thing's been updated, hopefully before the judges have made a decision... Pictures up soon.

I've entered the level for a new competition, and the level is currently on cool pages. Please rate my level properly and be a good sport! Thanks for looking at this thread, anyway!
UPDATE: Added a race, for sport! =D

Please guys, I need more opinions!

I'll play through your level later today when I get home from work. If you have permanent switches that can break the level, expect a few comments on that! Do you have any thermo left so that you can fix the problem? (e.g., use a set-reset switch from the LBP logic pack?)

In return I'd like it if you'd give me feedback on my level, TRIAL of SEASONS - SUMMER: LINK (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=24931-TRIAL-of-SEASONS-SUMMER). Feel free to wait until you have receieved your level review!

Thanks for the input! I do have a few permanent switches lying around, but I decided (more like didn't know) about set reset logic. Instead, there's a checkpoint activated so that if you jump down, you'll just have to kill yourself and respawn at the checkpoint - I do utilize set-reset logic in my second level - A sequel. =D

Alright... as promised: My review!

Overall, I liked your level, but unfortunately I felt it was too much of the same thing for toooooo loooooong. (Even ice cream gets boring if you eat it all day.) I liked the simple visual design and puzzles to start with, but by the end both my wife and I were begging for something different. You have the same visuals, same general types of puzzles (one player grabs this, other player grabs that) and MUSIC throughout your level from start to finish. Something (even small things) in the level to change that would help a lot.

If I had to recommend something, it would be a bomb puzzle. Everyone seems to love explosions.

My favorite puzzles were the one that continually slams and tries to squish you (you have to hide in the holes) and the one where you carefully have to change layers to avoid being electrified. Those were pretty original. Unfortunately the second player has to do nothing but sit there and hold on. You could easily make a few of the puzzles more interesting by making the second player let go in the middle (Maybe holding on opens one gate, but closes the second gate), or make them operate a machine that clears the way, like in some of the story levels.

As far as things that just didn't work well, the camera angle was poor for the second puzzle after the race starts (I couldn't see what I was doing). Also, the puzzle right after the crushing electrified sandwich (my name, not yours) is pretty dark, so it's hard to see the levers. Finally, after the dark puzzle, when the fireworks flash and the camera shakes.... nothing else happened. After waiting for a minute I went and figured out I could pull down the wall that was blocking my path. Was something else supposed to happen?

Overall a good level. I gave it 4/5 stars! Given your young age, the level is even more impressive than it normally would be!!! Keep up the good work! (When I was your age all I had was Mario Paint... *grumbles*)

Hmm... Maybe I should have something knock the wall over? I dunno. I thought people would be able to see. =P

Yah, I didn't do explosions because I thought it would kill all the cardboard - I was itching for new materials when there were none, so expect it to be updated when the Incredibles pack comes out - It'll be more visually pleasing. And I will take your comments into account on the sequel!

Thanks for the comments! =D

Here is my review in return for your review, dude. Couldn't find Mandatory Maintenance 2 at your profile, so I am reviewing this instead.

Okay, I loved this level. The obstacles were intuitive and really well-designed. I played with eagerness.
Also, the level looked awesome. It had a strong "techy" feel. Overall, it shows that you were really inspired when you made this level.

So, :star::star::star::star::star: for you, man.

Thanks loads for the feedback on this! Madnatory Maintenance 2 is in Ideas and Projects anyway, so its not really a good thing to leave feedback about.

I might be changing some stuff around in June - improving it so that it comes to my current skill level. =)
