Teleporting n ham?

Yeah basically im trying to start the player in one area then transport him to another place using a teleporter. So i was thinking of using gas so pretty much when the player moves and activates a switch or something the gas emits and the checkpoint on the other side gets activated. Do you think it would mess it up in anyway? Cause i might need to do something about the other checkpoint so the player doesn't activate it and get stuck in gas.... Actually the checkpoints for teleporters are already activated! Try to search it in community levels (tutorials). With them it's easy: checkpoint1 gets destroyed, checkpoint2 spawns activated, player dies... If you don't want _any_ checkoint to be activated afterwards, destroy cp2 and spawn another "normal" one somewhere. | 2010-02-27 22:58:00 Author: aphexZero Posts: 37 |
I'm a bit confused rseah... at your teleporter's initial point (where you die) is there a checkpoint? If not, I really don't see the problem. Spawning preactivated checkpoints and destroying old ones is old school tech before we could switch-activate checkpoints. Here's what I would do at any rate. Whatever switch you're activating your teleporter with, set to 1-shot. Have that switch wired to your target checkpoint and also have it wired to emit a block of gas to kill you, that lasts for 0.1s. Respawning is not instantaneous, but activating that checkpoint is, so I don't think it would be possible to end up respawning [anywhere else] before the target checkpoint is set. However, if you're really concerned, you could wire checkpoint activation to be instant (at the switch) and have the gas on a short timer to emit 0.1 or 0.2 seconds afterwards. | 2010-02-28 04:47:00 Author: Thegide Posts: 1465 |
