Iron Man Project by P_Bear

Archive: 23 posts

Hey forum, I've been working on my recent level Iron man for the past few weeks now (and some of you have been lucky enough to see parts), I'm readying it to be published before the release of the movie Iron man 2 in may.

Anyway, what parts of the first movie would you like to see? I've got a fair idea of what I'm going to do with a mixture of Dynamic gameplay, ranging from puzzles to bosses. As far as I'm concerned I want to get the LBPC community involved, by keeping you updated on the events and pictures etc.

So please tell me what you would want most out of this level. Visual stuff isn't a problem.

The jericho missile demonstration would be awesome in lbp. You need dust to blow sackboy back a bit to get the full effect.
Building the first suit: gather pieces of junk, throw into furnace = first suit.
Building the Arc reactor (time limit, you're dying, of the above?)
Any of the explosions
Fight with jets, add Rhodes talking to you to make it more engaging, rather than: Blow up the planes!

That's it for now.

Aww! Love that film!

Just a thought, why not publish it a few days after Iron Man 2? I noticed when Avatar came out, so many Avatar levels got bumped to page 1 of the Cool Levels. It's the same for any big game/movie really...

Yes I can see your point. I was going to release the level on the day (movie release) and then republish over a couple of weeks.2010-02-23 17:43:00

Well, since it's got more of the original movie stuff I would suggest it sooner to get people more excited about the movie. Maybe a week to two weeks before. People will want to see the movie already and having a level to play would be a good way to pass the time. 2010-02-23 17:58:00

I made a Iron Man level before, but I deleted it. It had the making the arc reactor and the waking up in a cell and everything. I think the most important factors that I personally would like to see in your level would be the iron man fight out of the enemy camp and the boss battle with iron monger. The fight that the iron man mark III does to the tank would be impressive as well. Hope to see this level out soon!2010-02-24 16:22:00

that looks super cool! but i agree with the comments above the explosions will set your level apart and put it on the next level. from like a four star to four/heart or higher.2010-03-09 03:36:00

Time for an update on the progress, well the level is planned for release on the 30th of April which is the premiere release in the UK of Iron Man 2, right now it's just a case of piecing the parts of the level together and working on the logic, right now and i still have at least halve of the thermo asmost of the visual stuff is completed so i just a case of putting the stuff together with the addition of extra stuff. the level is a 5 stage "movie level".
stage 1: cave (task/objective/mech)
stage 2: penthouse (puzzles and challenges)
stage 3: desert town (combat/platforming/ mech)
stage 4: penthouse (challenge)
stage 5; Boss Battle (Iron Monger 3 stage boss)

so here's a sneak peak at some of the cave gameplay at the very start of the level.
I'm sorry they don't look as good as we can't see the light effects!!!! don't worry more detail is yet to be added to the stage

Summary of stage One

After the title sequence your sackperson will awaken in a small cave, you will have to melt the pieces of scrap metal layered around the area and place them into the furnace. Once the task has been completed the door keeping you inside the cave explodes opening up the area. You'll have a small dash and jump across a corridor before you come to the activation computer, leap onto the keyboard and grab to enter the suit, and here comes the best part watch as you burn up the terrorists and watch as you blow up the half the desert mountians.

2 WEEKS TO GO
another update incoming and this might be the last...
so I'm entering the final stages of development of the level now, and i thought I'd provide a quick insight into the pentahouse gameplay and the construction of the suit. some of the photos i took are not featured due to me not wanting to spoil the level and challenges for you guys.
