STAR WARS: The Return of the Jedi: : The Ewok Village: err... Etc!julesyjules Using a Stolen Imperial Shuttle, you set down on the forest moon of Endor, your mission to destroy the shield generator protecting the new Death Star. As usual however, things never quite go according to plan...... Hey all, Just published the newie in the series, hope you'll give it a whirl. Its a simpler level than the previous few chapters, you pretty much swing and bounce all the way to the finish line, nothing too complex here! And to the members here that playtested and helped iron out the bumps - Powershifter, Ccubbage, Comphy, jww and piggabling -thanks guys! | 2010-02-22 01:07:00 Author: julesyjules Posts: 1156 |
OooooOOO you published!!? I know what I am doing here in a bit. Congrats | 2010-02-22 01:15:00 Author: jwwphotos Posts: 11383 |
You have put a HUGE silver lining on my weekend Julseyjules! I'm so all over this one! | 2010-02-22 01:15:00 Author: Morgana25 Posts: 5983 |
No me first!!! Oh wait.. you are already have your ps3 on don't you!!! NoooOOOoo lol | 2010-02-22 01:17:00 Author: jwwphotos Posts: 11383 |
Love it but found a problem - 4 people break the net - tried it twice happened 2x and you can break out of the level to the right of the Ewok with the sweet tooth. (I'll post more feedback when I finish but I LOVE what I'm seeing so far. | 2010-02-22 01:26:00 Author: Morgana25 Posts: 5983 |
Hmmm, that might be a problem (laugh) - I hadn't tested it for four. I'm on it, I'll see what i can do! | 2010-02-22 01:35:00 Author: julesyjules Posts: 1156 |
Also noticed you need to block after the scoreboard - easy to waltz right through with a group of four. | 2010-02-22 01:44:00 Author: Morgana25 Posts: 5983 |
Okey, blocked the scoreboard & sweet tooth, and also strengthened the trap, I'll have to go on feedback to see if its enough for four sacks. Thanks Morgana! | 2010-02-22 01:50:00 Author: julesyjules Posts: 1156 |
Great! What another great level from what I saw! I'll be sure to play the finished version! | 2010-02-22 01:58:00 Author: piggabling Posts: 2979 |
Amazing work as usual, can't wait to play it | 2010-02-22 02:44:00 Author: JawboneX Posts: 90 |
Horribly cute and fun. Another fantastic level other J. Loved all the funny bits and the platforming was really fun. A bit different than the others, but I really enjoyed the fun romp through the forest. Incredible lighting and really loved the later sections when it got darker around the flaming logs. The insides of the bunker were fanstastic and loved all the layered touches. A high tech delight. Also loved the use of the portals!! Dang.. why didn't I think of a huge plasma ball!!! Too cool! Excellent excellent and fun level. Ewoks were too dang cute for words. 50 stars and a zillion hearts. Congrats! | 2010-02-22 02:58:00 Author: jwwphotos Posts: 11383 |
I loved it, loved it, loved it! I had to stop numerous times just to look around. The forest was the most beautiful I've ever seen. I also had to stop a few times from laughing...I couldn't continue while in hysterics. Your humor gets me every time. I will mention though that the net killed me the first time I played, and I was playing it by myself. I had to restart because it actually broke. Other than that I didn't have any other troubles. The scene where C3PO was levitating was superb. The lighting was beautiful and you captured the atmosphere perfectly...yet keeping it uniquely yours. 5 stars for sure! | 2010-02-22 03:16:00 Author: TheCountessZ Posts: 537 |
Just beat it. Great work, still loving that sense of humor! by the way, I got first price on 1 Player Scores there | 2010-02-22 03:31:00 Author: JawboneX Posts: 90 |
This series is one of my favorites on LBP. Not only are they fun to play, but I often find myself laughing out loud as I play. And that trend continues with this new entry! I must admit that I haven't played the officially published version, but I did run through with Compher a few days ago. He said that he gave you a walk through of some of the problems we ran into, so I'll just focus on the good stuff! First of all, the visuals were outstanding. I loved all the trees! Everything from tree leaves to the big round tree platforms to your famous take on the Star Wars characters is fantastically done. And once again, I was laughing out loud as I played because of the hilarious dialogue. The gameplay was fun as well with a lot of variety throughout the level. Loved the hoverbike chase at the beginning, swinging on ewok heads, and shooting in and out of tree stumps! Just great fun all around! I'll be sure to give this newest version a play soon, but I wanted to make sure an write a few thoughts on this great level. Once again, well done! | 2010-02-22 03:42:00 Author: mrsupercomputer Posts: 1335 |
Hooray, it's finally published! I'll have to play this on the weekend. | 2010-02-22 07:39:00 Author: Arctos13 Posts: 258 |
I wrote about four bugs in the comments and I'll be back with more feedback soon. But this really is something else Definitely somewhere in my top three of 2010. | 2010-02-22 07:48:00 Author: Incinerator22 Posts: 3251 |
Thanks all for the feedback everybody! I tried strengthening the net yet again, if it continues to cause havoc I'll have to replace it with something else by the looks of it. I think i got all the things you left in the comments Incinerator, well spotted on some of those, thanks! | 2010-02-22 10:09:00 Author: julesyjules Posts: 1156 |
Well, Jules, this level was awesome. I'd say it's the best of the series, in my opinion. The Ewoks were great, the humor was great, and the gameplay was fun. I played with someone else, so I've only given it a heart thus far. But, I'll be back. | 2010-02-22 13:06:00 Author: comphermc Posts: 5338 |
Cool, It's published! I'll check out the final version tonight. From the beta, it was fantastic. I thought the way you had the "round" platforms in the trees was incredibly clever, and the foliage looked great. I had a lot of fun in this one! | 2010-02-22 13:27:00 Author: CCubbage Posts: 4430 |

Hey you published it! I'll be sure to give it another go and leave some feedback you can break out of the level to the right of the Ewok with the sweet tooth. Julesy - I was sure I told you about this one! lol Maybe it got lost in my massive walls of text | 2010-02-22 17:21:00 Author: Powershifter Posts: 668 |
Just played the finished product! Unbelievably cool. This is definately the biggest and most consistently great series in LittleBigPlanet. PROS: + Incredible and unique decorations + Great platforming + Lots of bouncing! (I love bouncing....) + I got to hug an ewok! + Very funny! CONS: - I fell a few times - I have to wait for the next one! Great job! | 2010-02-22 23:57:00 Author: CCubbage Posts: 4430 |
I was just wondering, how many more levels do you think you will make in the series? It has to end eventually, sadly. Oh well, you can always make another series afterward about the movies Eps 1,2, and 3. That will probably be awhile away though. | 2010-02-23 10:43:00 Author: Arctos13 Posts: 258 |
Hey Arctos, there's probably another 2 levels left, the Battle of Endor and then the final confrontation with the Emperor on the Death Star. Eps 1,2 & 3? - NO WAY! (laugh) a) I've been doing this series for over a year now and b) i don't have anywhere near the same affection for the prequels... | 2010-02-23 11:46:00 Author: julesyjules Posts: 1156 |
Hey Jules! Had the chance to play your level last night and it was grrreat! I loved mainly the forrest ambientation, really makes me want to make a "forrest level". Very inspiring level, well adjusted difficulty, and most important: Very fun. Keep it up! | 2010-02-23 13:05:00 Author: poms Posts: 383 |
Whew... Sorta happy about that actually! I am probably one of you biggest fans of this series, but an LBP version of Jar Jar? The thought gives me cold shivers.. Unless of course I could smash him in a mini game. One funny video - click here! (http://www.atom.com/funny_videos/jar_jar/) | 2010-02-23 14:45:00 Author: jwwphotos Posts: 11383 |
You might not have to whip out your light saber for this one, but you'll definitely need a good dose of the force as you drive, run, jump, and swing to save your friends from being an Ewok's main course meal! Yet another EPIC tale from Julesyjules, based on a story from a galaxy far, far away. After testing this one and giving it more than a dozen plays, here are my pros and cons: Pros: - Gameplay - running, jumping, and swinging are all fun and not so difficult that it hurts the flow of the level - Design - definitely unique.. I've never seen anyone use 'round' platforms like this. The best part is where C3PO is telling his adventures to the Ewoks - the hut they are in simply looks amazing! The characters are cute; the ships, walkers, land speeders all look authentic. The lighting throughout this level is fantastic - especially the way it shines through the trees. The trees themselves are quite impressive as I've never seen anyone create a forest that looks this good.. it's genius! - Story - Obviously not original, but you've got my favorite set of levels in LBP from one of the best stories ever written - Humor - Humor has become a staple of your levels, and you smacked a home run right from the start with Leah's dialogue. The humor throughout the level is well balanced and keeps a smile on the players face during the entire experience. - Details - I like to notice all the little details in levels, and this one certainly has it's fair share. I hope everyone noticed the guns on the Walker.. in that they move in and out every time they shoot. Really cool effect! Cons: - What CCubbage said - we have to wait for the next one! Overall: 5 :star:'s Hearted Tagged: Brilliant, Beautiful Just wondering, have you thought about giving away your vehicles, especially the walkers and ships, as unsharable prizes? | 2010-02-23 15:04:00 Author: Powershifter Posts: 668 |
Great level got a great atmosphere, loved all the simple shape and style to the characters. Nice work on those trees very creative and stunning looking, really stands out. 4 stars, tagged brill. | 2010-02-23 15:26:00 Author: LordMagicPants Posts: 187 |
Thanks guys Glad you're all liking the forest look, I scrapped a 90% complete version a bout a month & half ago cos i wasn't happy with the aesthetics, so that was worth it. - Details - I like to notice all the little details in levels, and this one certainly has it's fair share. Heh heh. I wonder who i have that to thank for? Powershifter is THE details man! : ) | 2010-02-23 18:38:00 Author: julesyjules Posts: 1156 |
I played it this morning, as you know Great addition to a fantastic series. It was as playable and funny as the rest, and in many way bettered them. The scenery looked great, I was impressed by the circular platforms, I still can't work out how you did it You removed a lot of the original pieces I played a while ago (if I remember correctly) and the level flows a lot better as a result. Have to use that AT-ST in the battle of endor, and strap loads of explosions to it. Can't wait for the next installment ***** and hearted | 2010-02-23 18:46:00 Author: GruntosUK Posts: 1754 |
I played this with morganna et al and tbh there were quite a few annoyances with require all sensors. For example if a platorm is activated by a require all, directional prox and then you have to jump off at the top, synchronising 4 player jumping is a nightmare. A simple psiton delay on that would work wonders (i.e so that it waits a second or so before dropping down again, to give people time to jump off). Playing solo is absolutely spot on though - you've outdone yourself visually, gamplay is great and all the lovely little touches (the leaves popping off of the sponge swings, the random ewoks looking out from behind trees, everything is great and the lighting is fantastic. And the dialogue is awesome, even when I have high expectations from you - some real laugh-out-loud moments and C3P0's story is great - even better when my sackboy decided to sit down to listen lol. One minor point, there appears to be no distinction between which of the logs are grabbable and which aren't. Most of the time it's clear from context but the one that spins and you have to jump on top of is a bit misleading. It'd be nice to esablish some kind of distinction (unless there was some and I wasn't aware of it ). Obviously not really worth much thought but y'know... Oh, and can you eitherglue down the characters at the beginning, or make it so you can actually knock leah over - I wasted around 4 minutes trying just now Awesome level 5 stars and a heart for you | 2010-02-24 00:24:00 Author: rtm223 Posts: 6497 |
Thanks for your thoughts & advice rtm, i was in there with gruntos & basketsnake (thanks guys!) this morning trying to sort the multiplayer aspect of that section out. i ended up getting rid of the lift, it was just one complication too many. That section was actually completely different a month ago, the entire bunker was composed of swings and grabs (it's basically the theme of the level). It was really nice and challenging in solo, but an absolute dog in multi. I ended up just chucking the whole thing out. Well i've learnt one new thing with this level, always test with four players, 2 just isnt enough, lol. The log you walk on (its the only one) is actually decorated with the barrel sticker, rather than the log one. Maybe too subtle though. | 2010-02-24 00:51:00 Author: julesyjules Posts: 1156 |
I am one of the biggest Star Wars fans out. I collect the toys and much more.... Your levels are fantastic! Really love the LBP spins on them. This one was incredible on atmosphere. Only bummer for me is when I play it with friends it isn't too friendly. First time I played the Net broke 2x. But I have read here how you fixed it. Played it for 3rd time today. And I absolutely love it. Thanks for the hard work. The forest is so cool, really feels like you are in another place, I really liked how the bridge reminds me of when Han and Lea kissed, looks just like the movie! Look forward to your others. Thanks, these are a "Must Play" in my book! O I know it says 2 player only, but when I brought 4 players, on the last bomb switch area, the one that pulls you to the top, it wouldn't hold 4 players.Only worked with 3. ( 1 player left) Anyways you warned me... ;p. Thanks for creating these awesome levels. | 2010-02-24 01:22:00 Author: fijski8 Posts: 159 |
Ive got nothing good to say about this level, words cannot describe how awesome it is, truly a magical experience, I just wanted to say that so that you wouldnt mistake the following minor details as me not loving this. The logs needed some distinction between what was grabbable and what wasn't, some platforms also seemed misleading, and the part after you jump over the AT-AT there wasn't much direction that pointed you to grab the small box and move it over and use it as a step, the shuttle makes it seem like that's not an option. This may jsut be me but at the part where you swing over to the gang all tied up, the rope extends bellow them which baffled me on what to do next, the hollow trees left of them blended into the theme so well i hadn't realized they were game play objects till i just jumped in them | 2010-02-24 04:26:00 Author: Littlebigdude805 Posts: 1924 |
Well that's understandable. I'd be pretty tired of it too. Funnily enough I've never really watched a single entire movie of Star Wars from start to finish, it never really appealed to me. This level series is a nice summary of it all, even if it's not completely accurate. | 2010-02-25 06:17:00 Author: Arctos13 Posts: 258 |
Thanks for your f/b & suggestions guys! @fijski8, I've tried to tweak the two offending sections that aren't that multi-friendly as much as possible and it definitely works better, but I've put a 1-2 player disclaimer on the level now, its seems the sensible option when i can't guarantee that a big group of players will make it through everytime. @littlebigdude I've moved what i think is the confusing/is it grabbable? log down to foot level, maybe that will be enough of a visual hint that it's one you walk on. The mis-leading platforms - without knowing which ones you mean, its hard to know where to tweak.... if you can remember, post them up, and i'll sort them as best i can. The box at the AT-AT platform and the trunk jumps - Well these are things that aren't signposted, but you're fairly limited in those areas to what you can do. I've moved the shuttle over, so the box is now the only option of proceeding. Theres a big yellow light on it, and a big yellow light on the box you need to pull it over to, so the clues are there hopefully. The rope below the tied gang? I can't find that! : ) Thanks for the feedback, it all helps! Well that's understandable. I'd be pretty tired of it too. Funnily enough I've never really watched a single entire movie of Star Wars from start to finish, it never really appealed to me. This level series is a nice summary of it all, even if it's not completely accurate. Actually I'm not bored of it, i still really enjoy making them. One ten part trilogy is enough though, heh. Once it's all done, i'll probably go back and give the the first couple a new lick of paint, they look a bit ropey these days. Yeh, I've veered from the plot in places but there's usually a reason, it's mainly done to have the player play out the more iconic scenes rather than spectate .... | 2010-02-25 12:19:00 Author: julesyjules Posts: 1156 |
mainly I'd say it's not accurate because of the hilarity incorporated and how it's a parody. Do you think that when your done you'll start a new comedic series that parodies another film series or game. I'd like to see your take on the whole Metal gear Solid franchise. That'd be quite funny with jokes about cardboard boxes and stealth and stuff. Just a bit of an idea. | 2010-02-26 04:52:00 Author: Arctos13 Posts: 258 |
Awesome as usual. Like I commented, I think you'll definitely get crowned for this series (when it's done). Remaking the entire original SW trilogy sounds like something MM would hand out a crown for. If they don't just give you one, someone should make a topic, like the one that got Morgana a crown. | 2010-02-26 06:26:00 Author: TripleTremelo Posts: 490 |
I didn't even notice that got released!!! I'll play it as soon as I get home. | 2010-02-26 16:54:00 Author: Jagrevi Posts: 1154 |
Character designs were spot on as usual. Arming the bunker was a really good challenge. Jokes actually made me lol. Especially 'Chewie' and C-3PO's history lesson. Couple of things: The tree trunk springs were not that visible, I thought that the dark area on the tree was just a dark area on the tree. Is it me or are some platforms circular (if viewing from top)? What did you use for the leaves? It isn't a decoration because I un stickered a bit of it. Overall 5 Stars Tagged Brilliant Would recommend to anyone whether they like/dislike star wars. | 2010-02-26 22:10:00 Author: Jedi_1993 Posts: 1518 |

Wow! The design of this levels is breath taking. The forest captured the feel of the films perfectly with fun and creative gameplay incoporated. Its obviously built for single player as alot of things didnt work with 4 players. The characters were very well made and provided for a few laughs. Its an amazing level and something you should feel very proud of. 5 stars and hearted. Thanks a lot. | 2010-02-27 15:04:00 Author: SteveBigGuns Posts: 423 |
Brilliant. Utterly Brilliant. On my first run, I let go of the scooter after killing the trooper, which then slowed down. I jumped back on and then got stuck on the tree. I carried on 'on foot' and the tree didnt fall right. I got stuck and was unable to continue. Luckily I restarted and the rest was amazing. You might want to consider putting the scooter accelerator as a perm switch so even if the player lets go, the rest of the level is asscessible. Adi | 2010-02-28 11:56:00 Author: TheAdipose Posts: 533 |
Thanks guys....much appreciated! @ Steve, I think you can get through the level by the skin of your teeth with 3 players but groups of 4 are definitely having problems. I've given up the endless tweaking, and settled for a '1-2 players only' in the description. Problem solved! lol. @ Adi - I'm guessing you missed the dulcet tones of Ben Kenobi telling you to hang on for dear life then. He's not stupid. ; ) I did try a perm switch on the Speeder, (it was suggested in testing), but it just changed the feel of the ride, like it lost any sense of momentum, and felt a bit on rails, so i stuck with it's current state and put in the warning to hold on. Which probably makes even more people let go just to see what happens.... | 2010-02-28 22:21:00 Author: julesyjules Posts: 1156 |

Just played it again and man, I love this level. Definitely my favorite in the series. It's soooo good! It's great to hear a few people say that, this part of the film is devoid of any of the big action set-pieces so I concentrated on just trying to make it a fun swing 'n bounce through. Im just starting the next one starting off exactly where this one ends and with any luck, will be Ewok/Empire carnage from start to finish. : ) I just found this random video on youtube so thought I'd add it to the thread - its so bizarre hearing someone else comment on your own level, although they liked it thankfully (phew). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jwXbtson69E | 2010-03-02 20:50:00 Author: julesyjules Posts: 1156 |
When do you think you'll have the next part finished? No pressure, take your time although i hope it won't take as long as this did to make, but all that time was worth it to make this as polished as it is. | 2010-03-05 12:19:00 Author: Arctos13 Posts: 258 |
It'll probably be a couple of months. I'd have thought that after 10 or so levels I'd be able to knock 'em out a bit quicker, but if anything it seems to get harder... | 2010-03-05 20:08:00 Author: julesyjules Posts: 1156 |

I played all of your Star Wars levels and I'm really impressed with your work. They're truly Star Wars-ish, the humor is beyond funny and the gameplay is exciting and challenging. Can't wait to see part 3 of "Return of the Jedi". | 2010-03-08 19:42:00 Author: JustinArt Posts: 1314 |

Hi Julesyjules... I just played your last level some days ago and..... it's a brilliant addition to your series! Fun to play - great atmosphere (as allways) - great humor - unique visuals and very nice gameplay elements! Even that I was a bit dissapointed that didn't add some sort of explosion effect of the whole bunker at the end, it was a great level that easily deserves 5 stars and heart - that's a no-brainer! Can't wait to play your next project. Your levels are pure entertainment ! Thanks a lot for that! Greets Neo :-) | 2010-03-14 13:19:00 Author: (___NEO___) Posts: 206 |
