The Voidrobinlint http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/6712/aphoto9.jpgA platforming level with lighting effects Poor Sackboy has been pulled into a void, and now he's looking for a way out! Will you help him get back to Earth? The result of playing around with XtrophX/Joey's and Morgana25's tips on lighting. I'd appreciate some constructive criticism/feedback | 2010-02-20 17:39:00 Author: robbit10 Posts: 450 |
I just played your level. Somewhat short, but very nice indeed. Pro: -Gameplay is not to hard or to easy. -The lighting looks good. -I really like the rotating planet underneath the scoreboard. Con: -Sometimes you can't clearly see Sackboy, and that makes jumping and swinging somewhat messy. This happens at the pillars you have to jump onto right at the beginning. It also happens when swinging on the cloth ceiling, with the moving fire platforms underneath. Perhaps you could play with the camera-settings? -When jumping from the rocket at the end, it's easy to miss the planet-scoreboard underneath. It would be great if you could take a look at one of my two levels, and give me some feedback. Thread of my first level, Lady Masquette and the puzzle garden, is here: http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/sho...-puzzle-garden Thread of my second level, Desperados of Tupelo Town, is here: https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=22944-Desperados-of-Tupelo-town | 2010-02-22 13:34:00 Author: pickled-punk Posts: 598 |
I'll try it soon, just one question: is there a thread or something i can read these tips on? | 2010-02-23 00:23:00 Author: RCIX Posts: 250 |
needs work on after pillers make the platform that moves needs a require all and make it so you shoot at something when flying the hover thing other then that was fun i rated 3 stars give me feedback on my level sinking titanic | 2010-02-23 02:07:00 Author: WESFUN Posts: 1336 |
I tried this one, and it was.... weird. Good platforming, but weird. I fell out of the level multiple times by letting go at just the right (wrong?) moment with the oscillating fire platforms below a grabbable ceiling. 4 stars i think. When you have time, can you review my new level (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=23078-Broken-Dreams-Part-2-Advanced-Training#post399624)]? | 2010-02-24 06:25:00 Author: RCIX Posts: 250 |
Some nice graphical touches. I agree that the camera angles are often unhelpful. Some of your logic was visable too. I enjoyed some of the platforming sections and I think you have a nice style with decorations. Adi | 2010-02-24 16:48:00 Author: TheAdipose Posts: 533 |
I didn't complete the race in time, because I struggled with the first platforming. You couldn't see anything because of the camera angle. But even though, I did like the ending with the rocket. I'll rate it 3 stars. | 2010-02-25 11:30:00 Author: ghik16 Posts: 311 |
hmmm....hard to rate. I liked the visuals, which got better as the level progressed. But I have to agree with everyone else on the camera angles near the beginning. 3 stars and a Good tag Thanks | 2010-02-25 15:43:00 Author: shawneboi Posts: 221 |
Thanks for the feedback, everyone! Okay, i'll have a fiddle-around with the camera's, and spice up the space rocket section a bit. My logic is visible? Yowch, i'll fix that too, then. @TheAdipose: Thanks for giving feedback on my level . I just watched your video tutorial on how you made The Meddling Magpie (even though I didn't play it.. Pity, shall do that soon.), and the one thing that really stood out for me is this one little permanent switch you've made - In my opinion, that's much better than the previous dissolveless permanent switch, and in my opinion, it should replace the one that is currently in the logic pack, with some more refinement. Perhaps you should submit it to CompherMC? Also, this happens to be my least polished, least worked on level. The other (better) levels got ignored. Could you please review The Electric Fortress and The Malfunction, Part 2? The Electric Fortress is on LBPC but The Malfunction, Part 2 isn't on LBPC yet, I still have to create a thread for it. It's coming up, though. | 2010-02-26 10:18:00 Author: robbit10 Posts: 450 |
