free roam door/ fence

you know when you got 3 or more people, and you know how to do somthing but they wanna go somewhere else and you go off screen and you run for your life to survive?

well... with this door/ fence, everyone woulde be able to go through the level while bieng off the screen!

i think this would help reduce lagging and pre-pops (dieing when your on screen but is regestered as off screen ).

so, what do you guys think? (more idea's would be nice)

I would love something like this SO MUCH! I get tired of noobs running ahead without waiting for everyone else. Then again, something like this could put more stress on creators to make sure a level can be completed even with folks wandering around all over the place.2010-02-19 00:20:00

hey yeah thats a good idea, ive seen that in Grand Theft Auto, when your playing 2 players theres some sort or barrier or a set range of whici a player can wander off to, so he gets to a point where if the party isnt together the "noob" lolz cant keep going, theres like something blocking him, that would be a pretty cool idea.2010-02-19 01:07:00

Its a nice idea but a bad idea when you think about it. Too much of a hassle on creators. If one player goes aahead of the others and triggers something, the other players would miss it or even worse, be left behind .2010-02-19 15:35:00

That's why it would be a choice that is left up to the creators. It would have to be anyway so as to not break existing levels. It would simply give more options to creators, which is never ever, in any way, a bad thing.


Also, I'm not convinced there would be any more lag involved for such a system. The physics of everything in the whole level has to be accounted for all the time anyway (one of the major limitations of this game and it's networking capacity) and synched between machines, and actual rendering of the image is done locally, so there probably wouldn't be much more lag (if any) associated with it.

How about a feature that would cause the screen to slowly split into different parts?

Say for instance, your friend walked off to the side. Instead of getting a countdown meter, the screen would slowly divert to a split-screen mode. The farther that person ran off, the more split the screen would become. If another went off screen, the screen would split into an even 3 screens (and so on and so forth). If like, say, one person ran into another person's screen, then the screens would merge into a larger view, like from 3 screens to 2.

Idk if that would work, but it'd be nice to see a feature implemented to suit those who wander off to ruin the experience.
