Does anyone know a way to recover thermo after its filled up? Deleting stuff doesn't do anything....2010-02-16 13:16:00

theres lots of ways, removing complicated corners is one, but the most effective way is getting rid of materials, each material rendered takes up some thermo so go over your level and see what you can remove, Do you really need that polystyrene or can i just sticker dissolve instead, do i really need to use this wood when i would get the same effect with that one.2010-02-16 13:22:00

You are actually wrong the ps3 version functions like that in the psp version it is all about corners the more you the more thermo it fills up just delete some corners and you should be good to go.

It has been theorized that on the PS3 there are multiple thermometers working at the same time, and whichever one is the highest is the one you see. For example, there's a number-of-polygons thermo, a sound objects thermo, a stickers/decorations thermo, a materials thermo, etc. You can see this in action by adding a bunch of different types of materials - you'll get a "too many materials" overheating message as compared to a "too many complicated shapes" message if you have a lot of polygons.

This same thing appears to be true for the PSP. In A New Hop I got to the point where I was totally unable to add any more stickers anywhere in the level. If I wanted to add one small bolt here, I'd have to go somewhere else in the level and delete a shading sticker or a paint splat or something. Even when I was unable to add stickers, I was still able to add tons of score bubbles and attach them all with rods. So, even though my thermo said it was about 0.00001% away from completely full, there was apparently still lots of room for certain types of things.

What am I getting at? Well, look through your level and try to figure out what's causing the maxed thermo. Unfortunately we do not have the luxury of specific overheating messages, so you'll just have to guess. robotoid's suggestion is excellent and a good place to start - just material change stuff and see what happens. You may also have too many switches, or too many moving things, or too many sounds. I'll go ahead and say that you probably don't have too many stickers, because you need to use a LOT of stickers to start the overheating process - perhaps 500 or so. Emitters take up a lot of space so have a look at that as well.

I'm alright now. I deleted a bunch of stuff from my level and it all worked out in the end.2010-02-17 17:46:00
