| .:Welcome to the Sig Contest :. http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e56/Snoogyface/Sig_Contest_Banner.png If you enjoy making works of art known as 'sigs' Then this is your contest to enter! How it works: Anyone can join this contest as long as they provide an entry for the first round. Each week there will be a new theme to construct a sig from. After each round(one round per week), one contestant will be eliminated and will not be allowed to continue the game. In this sig contest there has been a new addition. Along with the theme, you will be awarded up to ten points for the special bonus feature. This could be anything from depth to certain colour - so look out for it! Disqualifications: Remember, the sigs you create and choose to publish in this contest must be "school appropriate" in the fact that they do not contain profanity, nudity, or discrimination. Keep it G-rated or you will be disqualified from this contest. Also, all the work submitted must be YOUR OWN and not someone else's. If you have any questions regarding these policies please send me a message. Size Limit: The max limit for each round will be 500 pixels in length by 200 pixels in height unless specified in the round's theme. Prize: First place in the Sig Contest V.8 will receive 500 XP! Along with this, the winner will host the next sig contest - the mighty V.9!!! Contestants: - Rhyfelwr - lbpholic - sorrowthedark -Khalith_ (after a contestant is eliminated their name will appear silver) .:Round 1:. (RESULTS UP) Theme: Video Games Bonus Points for: High Quality Render This theme encompasses all and any video games and is an simple way to start off. This could be a single gaming character, or a sig dedicated to a game or even a whole gaming system. Up to 10 bonus points will be awarded for the quality of the render used - a nice easy bonus for you to pick up! Good Luck .:Round 2:. (RESULTS UP) Theme:The Country Border Bonus Points for: Font integration with the sig Ok, so this one is easier than it sounds - basically I want a sig based off any country, but I'll be paying paticular attention to your border aswell as your sig. Bonus points go to people who manage to hide their names in the sig, or make their text really part of the sig. Good Luck! .:Round 3:. (RESULTS UP) Theme:Colours Bonus Points for  epth within your sigHopefully a bit easier than last round, this time you'll take a colour and base your sig around this colour. This does not limit you to a single colour, rather a range of colours that are very similar (dark green, green, light green, yellow for example). Renders, animations, text etc. have free reign so long as they fit well with your sig and of course fit with your colour range! I'll also be looking for some depth in your sigs, with things looking as realistic (well, 3D) as possible! Good Luck! .:Round 4:. (RESULTS UP) Theme:Typography Bonus Points for:Being unique! And now the challenge really begins! We've weedled out at least 4 other competitors and now the best remain for a more difficult round. This time the theme is typography - so I want your focal point to be text of some sort. This could be a motto, quote, your username etc. The bonus points are also getting harder to gain - I want to see something unique and different to the other competitors! Maybe you're going to make a pop-out sig, an animated sig or something else unique to everyone else. I'm expecting big things this round! Good Luck! .:Round 5:. May 2nd Theme:LittleBigPlanet Bonus Points for: Play. Create. Share. This one is really going to test you sig artists who are left. A shorter deadline, a difficult theme. As we know, there are very few good LittleBigPlanet Renders and pictures, so you're gonna have to either make your own or find something new to score top points. The bonus points are going to be hard to gain here - but if it has that LBP charm, or really makes me think about playing creating and sharing  Good Luck to all remaining! .:Round 6:. May 26th Theme:LittleBigPlanet2!!! Bonus Points for: Brand spankingly new features As we draw near to the end of LittleBigPlanet1.. and more importantly the sig contest, it's time to show me something new and clever to get bonus points. Whether it's a new feature of LBP2, or a new feature to sigs that's either never used or hasn't been for a while. Basically, come up with something new in this sig to gain the top points. The theme is simple, but it's going to be difficult to find high res images of LBP2, so maybe you'll have to dig deep and create your own, or search really hard! | Hmm - seems animation is a touchy subject! I fully understand why some would feel this is unfair; however, it is possible for everyone to download a free animation package if they wanted to. They're not tricky to learn. That said, I don't normally do animation - the title of my sig just seemed to suit it this time round. | Well, the sig I submitted was originally animated but I thought it might be to much, so I saved it as a PNG instead of a GIF. I don't mind anyone using animation. I think I'll use it next time, if I get through. EDIT: After seeing what I'm up against I edited my entry. Only a bit though! | Ok, time to clear this animation thing up. You will not be given aextra points for using animation alone - HOWEVER if animation benefits your sig in a way that makes it better than your sig would otherwise be - then you will get more points. Think of it like this. Imagine animation was like a border. Would the sig with no border that look scruffier get more points than a sig with a nice clean border that adds to the sig? Of course it would, and so animation could gain you more points in that respect. But as I said, if your sig is of great quality and doesn't need animation, then you'll get points for other things.... Hopefully you guys understand how I'll be judging the sigs now @Leather - yeah the changes you've made are fine @Everyone - please try to refrain from posting in the submissions thread, it's really annoying to have to go through all the post to find the sigs. I love the colours you've used, and the render is really good. Lost a couple of render points because some of it is slightly blurred though. The font integration is difficult to fault, it goes so well - congrats on that. I found it easy to identify the country, and the colours used really helped with that as well. But this works really well as an open sig and I like the blue around the edge of the country and I can see how much effort it's taken to make - a truely amazing sig. | I used a mixture of apps. The female figure is the Vic4 rig and it would have taken AGES to create from scratch (and I'm not skilled enough to get this quality) but I did pose it. The splat was part created in 3DSMax using an existing prop. The lettering was done using Illustrator, then imported into 3DSMax and shaped to look "splatty" (if that's a word). The background is a new fractal uing Apophysis. I used DAZ Studio to create 3 renders and the whole thing was pulled together with Photoshop... of course. @rseah - never used Cinema4D *quickly opens google* So yeah - you're all right!.. but there's something about it I don't like.. can't quite put m finger on it. | Finally got this done. As I said on the submission, I love nebula clusters and began to figure how I could do one justice. Then to complicate matters, I did a seperate render of the font and used PS to composite the images. I think it works nicely but what it is missing is a border. Even a very thin dark one would have made the sig just a little better. But those are only minor things to point out, the animation works well and looks great - what more could you want? The main one is the lovely colours you've used - and I really like this combination of oranges and whites - I think it really works well and adds a nice flow. Although it's a little simple I think it works well enough to pull it off, and the animation is a nice step. A high bonus points score because of the border and text. My only problem with this is that the colours all merge slightly, it would be nice if there's been a bit of red or even if you'd burned the dragon (no pun intended) slighly to bring it out. Still, an excellent sig. Overall you've got to say this is a lovely sig and it really takes the theme to the extremes. | I hate to be a killjoy, and I assure you that this isn't anything personal, but I think I'm going to have to drop out. I'm not trying to be funny, but it's at least 3 weeks now since I posted the extra sig level thingo I was asked to do, and we're not moving forward. I'm about to hit a really busy time at work, as we're getting to the stage where I'll be organising three concerts (almost one a week) before the end of the school term, and as soon as that finishes I'm off on holiday for a month. In other words, even if the verdict and instructions for the next round came in tomorrow I wouldn't actually get a chance to look at it until the start of August. So with that said, I'd like to say that this has been a great deal of fun, I've certainly enjoyed trying to bend the guidelines for each submission as far as they will go, and I look forward to seeing how things progress in the future. In addition, I too was starting to worry about the future of the sig contest and whether V9 would ever happen. No doubt there will be other sig geniuses (or is that genii?) out there just waiting for a new chance to prove their worth. As a result, I regret to say that I too am now going to abstain from the final, leaving the competition finished and unresolved with no clear winner. I would however like to thank Coxy for his undoubted efforts in the past. I understand that his internet connection has been limiting and has put him in an embarrasing position. I was a SOTW judge but it was a lot of work cause you had to delete all the posts in stuff, i never understood why we didn't make new threads. ANY contest has to have reliable judges that can devote a lot of time and effort to running them.
