The Fantasy ChroniclesALPHA-OMEGA81
You are on Fantasy Island and you are searching for the gate to the Promised Land.
This is a puzzle platforming stage in a fantasy setting.
I really would like some feed back on my level please.
It's played a few times, but not completed
Either it's too difficult ( I'll doubt that btw...) or something else is the problem.
Please check out my level and tell me what's the problem.
Thanks in advance

Thanks

I altered the level a bit. I moved some key items around, and took your advice about the gun.
I hope it's more playable like this.

Oh, what a great level you made ! :hero: I played it 2 or 3 hours ago, and I enjoyed it alot !

It doesn't deserve the poor mark it has got. Visually, I found it really stunning, especially the houses, and all the details like the ivy, or the cauliflowers. I also liked the trees and their branches.
However I'm sure I could've been even nicer if you had not used so many straight shapes. Use the corner editor !

Another thing I loved was all the paths. I got a lot of pleasure out of exploring the island. The first time I played it, I got stuck in the cave because I had not got the sticker, so I decided to explore the forest , etc...

Anyway, in the body of the Bird, I've managed to get only one of the two stickers, so I haven't completed your level yet

I'm glad that you like it

About using the corner editor, I kinda can't.
My level is at the point of overheating ( darn that thing) and every shape in my level cannot be altered any further because of it

One of the key stickers in Bird Rock can be obtained later on, after completing another puzzle first.
In this level, every sticker is a key sticker.
The places to use them are marked with a different tile and a discription( an easy hint to which sticker to use).
The keystickers themselves do also have a name, so maybe it's handy to look at those aswell.

I also found out that some people are getting stuck, because they cannot collect the key stickers.
I suggest that they turn the "collect community prizes" to on. Otherwise you cannot collect them to progress.

I have an idea. When you're making a new level like this, then maybe split the level in two for having more space for the cornor editor. Maybe.2010-02-15 16:13:00

Nicely done level. Puzzles worked well and visuals were very good in places - well done.

A few suggestions-
too much doubling back -- especially at the end. I was really tired of going back and forth in that cave. I realised after that I went through more times than necessary, but as part of the level is about exploration - you should try to minimise this.
The base of your trees looked strange - I thought your houses and stickering was excellent - but the weird base of the trees made it look a bit amateur. Perhaps make the player jump from branch to branch rather than that unnatural 'step' a few metres up.
-make you lighting changes slower. Walking in/out cave gave a nasty lurch.

I really enjoyed playing through this, The way scenery moved and the raising temple was quite spectacular. I will check out some more of your work.

Thank you for the advice and I'm glad that you like my level

About the doubling back, that is kinda what I wanted to try with this level.
I haven't seen any of those levels online ( that I played) and because this is a puzzle level I took that gamble.
Some of you may like it, but some of you won't.
As for the trees, I kinda wanted to keep it simple when you start at the bottom ( kinda jumping from block to block).
I will have a look at the lighting in the cave though.

Again thank you and I hope you like my other levels aswell!

Alrighty, I fixed the time of the light switching on most places.
I must say, that this was a great idea of yours. Thank you

As a open-ended level lover I got to say that this was a great level.
But I hope you know, not all are like me and some hate backtracking, exploring and that kind of stuff. they want the challenge to be thrown right on their face.

Good visuals, but as TheAdipose said the trees bases look pretty bad. Shame that there's no thermo to edit that...
One thing this level kind of misses is a plot. Given that you're seeking a way to the promised land and stuff, I think some background story would be great. But again, the thermo comes in way. ARRGHH!!!

I'm glad that you like my level
And yeah, I know that not everyone is a fan of backtracking and exploring. But some people are and it's a level for them.
The dislikers can skip it no prob.
Before I created this level, I didn't find any of those types of levels online so I created one myself.
I hope there will be others aswell, because imo it's something different for a change.
Most levels are all about going from point a to point b ( like my previous 2 levels) or survival missions ( which can be fun too though).
I wanted to do something different that I hadn't seen before. But yeah, I can understand that some players don't want to backtrack at all.
They want to beat a level in under 5 minutes. This one will take them 15 minutes at least.

But I'm rambling on now.
This level is not supposed to be a story level though. That was my intension from the start.
If you like story based levels, please check out my other thread ( called little big pilgrimage 1 and 2).

And about the thermo, I really cannot do anything without getting the message that my level overheated
But I will deffinetely take all advice I get to heart and use it when creating other levels
