Hot Curries!

Archive: 11 posts

Now then, I'm not talking about your supermarket bland-fests, or if you heave at the smell of chip shop curry sauce! I'm talking HOT HOT HOT!

You've all maybe heard of Madras curry, and you'll maybe know that the 'next one up' is Vindaloo. Pretty hot stuff...

But the next stage is a Tindaloo - darn hot on the tongue and not for everyone! But yesterday, I tried a Phaal for the first time. Jeez, it shaved a few layers of cells from my mouth! I'm veggie, so I had a Mixed Vegetable Phaal. Holy Karumba!!! It was nice, but lordy, not to be taken lightly.

I've heard that when eating hot curry, the trick is to have a hot drink with it, as opposed to a cold beer or whatever. Unfortunately, I had a cold beer with it, and I can tell you that the contrast was just too much. I fought the good fight and got most of it down, but with watering eyes and nuclear mouth, I had to give in 2/3rds of the way through.

Phaal, anyone..?

well a good trick to eat spicey food is take a spoon of sugar first idk why but it seems to prevent your taste buds from getting the full blow of the spice but wont last forever so eat your food rather quickly XD LOL2010-02-12 21:43:00

I like really hot curries, and some mild ones, but I'm not a massive fan of coconut and creamy ones.2010-02-13 13:45:00

I think yer nuts! TheCountessZ likes curry, but the times she longs for Indian Food we make two carry out orders. One from her favorite Indian restaurant and another from across the street at our favorite Mexican restaurant for me!

Kinda handy they are so close and works out great that one is a bit slower than the other when we call in the order!

I'm with Doopz on this one. Korma for me too. I don't care if i'm a wuss, i enjoy it.

One of our local Indian restaurant's had the meaning for the names of curries beside them and they do a curry hotter than vindaloo called a bookaloo. In the description it said once you've had one of these you'll need to book a loo !! Needless to say I gave that a miss.

The hotter the better for me. Generally a Vindaloo, but a phaal if I'm feeling I need to burn my mouth out completely.

I'm gonna order an indian now I think

Well, I was planning on making stuffed flounder tonight, but now I'm having second thoughts Actually, my favorite is the Chicken Tikka Masala. I love the creamy goodness, along with the superb basmati rice, which I think has cilantro in it. Oh, and an order of Paneer Pakora with the green sauce. OMG I'm hungry!2010-02-13 18:07:00
