http://i583.photobucket.com/albums/ss273/specialagent_01/LittleBigPlanet/Trickys%20Temple%20Trials/th_TrickysTempleTrialsLogo.jpgThis is our entry for the OC contest and is published by Bakscratch.

Made for the OC contest primarily this is the first collaboration between myself and Bakscratch although I must admit Bakscratch has done the majority of it as I still suffer loads of lag in OC. It takes me 5 minutes just to edit 3 corners LOL. I ended up mostly having to make stuff on my moon and then take it into the level to place it in and let Bak do the tinkering with it.

I think we've done a pretty good job considering that and the fact we were late starting on the project.

It basically does what it says on the tin anyway. It's a Temple level in so much as it has the look of Mm's story mode Temple levels and is full of hazardous obstacles for the player to negotiate. It has a 2 player section with a couple of prize bubbles for the completists out there and also a tricky part that only really works in 1 player due partly to the fiendish design of the puzzle ( blame me for that, sorry ) and also the in-game camera counting other players out which unfortunately we have no control over as you all well know by now. The 1 player part is entirely optional though and can be skipped. Treat that just as a bonus section.

Well we hope you enjoy it and look forward to hearing your feedback. Thanks.

Ok guys, played your levels and I really enjoyed it, thought the platforming really couldn't be faulted. Had charm and great gameplay chucked in with some lovely visuals. Could hardly say anyting bad about it... however when I played there was no music! None at all which made me a sad sackboy, playing through a level with no music.
Other than that though I loved it, it was fun to play and had some great ideas

There is definitely music.

Have you checked your music player in your profile settings. It can now be turned off in play mode. It happened to me once. I don't remember ever turning it off but when I was in a level with no music playing and checked my settings it was turned off. I turned it back on and Voila !. Been fine since.

BTW can a mod tell me how to edit the template without deleting it. I accidentally deleted some code when I made it ( it said div: something or other ) and don't know how to restore it. Thanks.

I kept meaning to get round to this but got distracted by many a player and project.... That looks epically brilliant.
My only problem is it looks too darn similar to how I planned to build level 6 of my project. Materials and all.

LOL kz. Don't let that stop you. We don't have a monopoly on material usage. I'm sure your level will be just as epic but in your own different way.2010-02-13 14:22:00

Hey guys!
I had a play of this last night with 2 friends...and let me tell ya it isn't really multi-player friendly!
The camera gets a bit wonky, and due to your fairly large layout you end up putting players out of screen.
That being said though, I thought it was Brilliant! The visuals were really nice. I loved the color combinations and material choices.
I thought your platform elements were excellent! They were varied and interesting and with just enough challenge.

I love to have a reason for what I am doing but because of the challenge I really didn't even think about the fact there wasn't really a story until after I played through it. Which shows just how much fun we were having...and we were! It is a blast to play through watching each other get killed! We laughed and screamed all the way through it!

Nice job both of you!

5 Stars Hearted and Platformer Tag!

EDIT: Oh yea I wanted to say the screen shots you have are awesome...How did you get them like that (wide screen)?
*Never mind I see now, there are 2 pics side by side*

I just played this multiplayer, but didn't have those camera problems.

It was a fun romp, very much in the mould of Dancers' Court. It was very enjoyable up until the spinning cube bit - couldn't get past there.

Good luck with the comp!

Thanks everyone.

@ AJnKnox : yes we are aware of the multiplayer unfriendliness in places but not really sure what to do about that until/unless Mm give us better cameras. If you remember before LBP launched one of the big selling points was that they said 4 players would always be on screen regardless of how far apart they were. Mmmmm I wonder what happened to that. It seems to have been conveniently forgotten. Glad you enjoyed the level despite that anyway.

@ MrsSB : Sorry about that cube. That was my fiendish bit I referred to. It is very tricky even in 1 player and virtually impossible with multiplayer which is the reason we put a 1 player sign up at the start of that and also made it optional. You can ignore that section altogether. I played it again myself earler and died plenty of times before I eventually managed it LOL. Thanks for the feedback anyway.

I played your level this afternoon and had a ball. The platforming is great ? varied and challenging and with some new and interesting ideas too. The cube is fiendish but ultimately do-able ? though I?m not sure whether I eventually worked out a technique or just fluked it, lol!

I loved the visuals too ? the scale of some of the sections is epic (the huge statues are superb) and the colour combinations are lovely. The style of MM?s Dancer?s Court was always one of my favourites and your take on it is great.

Everything worked smoothly except that on one play through when I died attempting the Death Cube I re-spawned not back at the start of that section but at the checkpoint below it. No idea why this happened as it didn?t on my other attempt. Maybe it was a one-off or I did something different without noticing it ? I know you have made it possible to skip this section.

Anyway ? a great fun platforming level with bags of style. Best of luck in the contest.

5 stars and a heart.

Better than Dancer's court in my opinion. Everything felt right. The gameplay, the visuals and just the overall feel.
I loved the walker section. 5 stars and hearted.

By the way Thanks to everyone involved with the 'Logic Pack' as I found some use for the switches from that.

My fiendish cube puzzle was a direct result of me wondering if I could find a use for the 'emitter based toggle switch' and I came up with that. If anyone really hates that puzzle then blame whoever made that switch LOL as without it that part wouldn't exist.

I played the level in multiplayer this afternoon and had no major problems with the camera.

Very exciting level. Lots of cool new ideas. The 'platform-shoes' section was great. Also the descent along the big blue dancers (swinging platforms, grab-able ankles). Enjoyed it very much.

Sorry, I meant to mention in my earlier post how much I loved the checkpoints with the elephants on them. Best checkpoints I've seen this year! I would have edited my other post but it's so far back in the thread I didn't think you see it, lol!2010-02-17 18:20:00

Just played this with Mnniska. Very good I have to say. Tricky, but good. Certainly had that original LBP vibe going on, which I miss in so many levels (yes, even my own).
Only part that was not all that much fun was (ironically) the bouncy floor. :-D

Gave it 5 stars and probably hearted it. Well done, chaps.

Glad you liked most of it Syroc thanks.

Why didn't you like the bouncy floor though ? That was one of my favourite bits I created. Was it because it was too easy and we gave too many hints how to avoid it ?

Oh, I'm not sure to be honest. Maybe it was because of the hints or maybe it just didn't come as a surprise.2010-02-23 12:44:00

This level was very impressive, i loved the visuals they where astonishing and even better than the story levels. The game-play was awesome i thought it was very fun and original, one of my favorite parts was the one of the walking platforms, good job in that. I think this could be the winner of the competition, great job and keep up the good job guys, by the way good luck in the competition.2010-02-25 01:30:00
