I've kept you waiting long enough, so here's the video. Enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dmDp6qiRPXQ To vote for your favourite, you'll need to head over to this thread (http://tinyurl.com/ykalr9b) at the PlayStation forum and follow the instructions. The downside to doing it this way is you need to have been a registered member for at least 2 weeks and have viewed the forum at least 500 times to be able to vote. If you've been involved with any of the LBP betas of if you're a regular member there anyway then this shouldn't be a problem. Voting ends Wesdnesday 17th March. Good luck to all the finalists! | 2010-02-12 18:28:00 Author: Nuclearfish Posts: 927 |

Woah! Nice! how many entrees can you enter? As many as you want! I would have enter if there was another prize, because I already got the PSP go and lbp psp It's not about winning a prize, that's just a bonus. Make a contraption anyway for fun! | 2010-02-12 19:12:00 Author: Nuclearfish Posts: 927 |
Ok I will try to make one as soon as I can | 2010-02-12 19:41:00 Author: Alec Posts: 3871 |
I might get in on this. Since I haven't actually experimented with water that much yet, I should be able to come up with some kind of needlessly-complex, amphibious walker using wobble-bolt logic in 14 days. | 2010-02-12 19:42:00 Author: Gilgamesh Posts: 2536 |
I was expecting a CC about Water, but this seems very cool and ingenious. But, why Italy can't win the PSPgo? There are all the Eu Countries! | 2010-02-12 20:21:00 Author: Dante95 Posts: 504 |
This sounds rather interesting indeed i think i might enter this one as well i got a really good idea | 2010-02-12 20:36:00 Author: lbpholic Posts: 1304 |
just about to publish my first entry CC10 -1 as there will be a few more amphibians along in the next few days and the psn is ghostrider135 | 2010-02-13 01:45:00 Author: ghostrider135 Posts: 259 |
Does it have to go on top of the water? | 2010-02-13 02:49:00 Author: Incinerator22 Posts: 3251 |
Does the vehicle have to float on the surface of the water? No, it can be partially or completely submerged if you want. You could even make something like a walking vehicle with extending legs that walk on the seabed whilst keeping sackboy above the surface if you think you can pull it off. :smileywink: Ironically, that is exactly the kind of vehicle I was planning on making. Guess that's out then. | 2010-02-13 03:44:00 Author: Gilgamesh Posts: 2536 |
how many entrees can you enter? As many as you want! Can they be in one level? | 2010-02-13 08:12:00 Author: Syroc Posts: 3193 |
There is a FAQ if you follow the link on the first post. Can I make more than one contraption? You can make as many as you like! Just make sure you publish each as a separate level. | 2010-02-13 14:05:00 Author: Gilgamesh Posts: 2536 |
i'll join. my psn-id rich0664 | 2010-02-13 15:02:00 Author: Unknown User |
Ironically, that is exactly the kind of vehicle I was planning on making. Guess that's out then. why not make it so it walks when out of water... and kicks its legs when its in the water  | 2010-02-13 20:42:00 Author: Kern Posts: 5078 |

I have yet to really work with the water kit, so I'll definitely join in for funs (from the US so can't win). I've always wanted to enter a contraption challenge, I've just never had the chance because of real life stuff *shrug*. | 2010-02-14 04:57:00 Author: Mennenth Posts: 52 |

You can just look me up to make it easier to find considering my name has less letters than the title . I'm gonna make some finishing touches and then I'm gonna publish in about 10 mins from now. Please at least give me feedback. I know I can't win but just tell me what you think of it. . Edit: The level is published! . Apparantly yesterday afternoon there were 77 levels published. Who knows how many there are now... It usually takes me an hour or two to look through them, this time it'll probably be a whole weekend. Anyway, just posting to say that if you're not eligible for teh prize for whatever reason, it'd be great if you could mention that in the level description somehow. Oh, and coulod a mod please unsticky the CC09 thread? Thanks. | 2010-02-16 10:07:00 Author: Nuclearfish Posts: 927 |
Nuclear it seems that if you offer a proper prize people go crazy. i have built one but i have helped with the logic for other people so i know just how crazy this months contset is being. | 2010-02-16 10:18:00 Author: robotiod Posts: 2662 |
I got an idea for a walker i'm toying around with, maybe i'll enter it if i build it in time... | 2010-02-16 11:04:00 Author: RCIX Posts: 250 |

Haven't checked the levels for a few days so not sure if anyone has done it yet,, but if I were entering I'd make a tank of some sort. If the tracks are floaty enough they might be able to support the weight of the vehicle..... | 2010-02-16 19:29:00 Author: Nuclearfish Posts: 927 |
Yeah a tank works because I've used rz22g's tank in water. I just thought the idea was to come up with something that uses a different form of propulsion on land to that it uses in the water though. Maybe I've been overthinking it. | 2010-02-16 19:33:00 Author: mistervista Posts: 2210 |
OK! Guys. This is seriously the contest winner. It uses one of the best logic systems ever, and it's uses are revolutionary. Search for'' @Fredrik94'' Level name: CC10- Sackboy-powered Awesome Colour Powerball It is belived that Jesus used a device as this when he walked on water! | 2010-02-16 20:38:00 Author: Fredrik94 Posts: 342 |
Mine is called "CC10 - The army's mobile Polar Peak stealth infiltrator" - By the cover of darkness the army is deploying their latest black project. It's a mobile SUV-attack-mobile-thingie equipped with a beast never seen by man. It's all camoflaged with equipped "realistic" mountains and clouds to blend in with mountainous arctic regions where the army is conducting their operations. Once this vehicle-thing enter the water it goes into silent mode and the portable full-moon turns itself off as well as the animated clouds that stop moving. Be wary of mines and suicide seals as you cross dangerous depths and approach the enemy base. Then...ATTAXXXXXXXXXXXX!!!!!! It's a one man operation. Send in the beast. Once the job is done it'll deploy its parachute and leave just as quickly as it attaxxxx'd. You'll never see it coming. The emblem on the vehicle and parachute stands for "army", "tentacles" and "stealth". | 2010-02-16 22:40:00 Author: BasketSnake Posts: 2391 |
for my second CC10 project iv made the lotus esprit from the james bond film 'the spy who loved me' if you dont know what it looks like, here is a photo, on mine the wheels do not fold in but the wings on the side of the car can rotate allowing the car to go forwards and backwards by two small rockets attached to the wings | 2010-02-16 23:55:00 Author: geddez12 Posts: 338 |
Do I just post the level with CC10: blah blah or do I have to inform someone that ive posted a level? | 2010-02-17 12:42:00 Author: theamilien Posts: 485 |
Just publish it with CC10 in the title. | 2010-02-17 12:44:00 Author: Syroc Posts: 3193 |
I might enter, not sure Does the vehicle have to undergo a change when it goes in/out of water? Also, Is there any age restrictions on this contest? I've only seen one entry so far which is lemon_and_gravy's. I know most of lbpc hate him but it was pretty well made, it was like a sports car that converted into a pirate ship when it went in the water | 2010-02-17 12:55:00 Author: Matimoo Posts: 1027 |

So... I see most people are making a car or walker huh... I guess I know which insane idea I have to make to set myself apart now! Haha! I'm actually attempting my own insane idea. I knew from the beginning I wanted to do something that isn't a standard car or walker. They are interesting, but meh. I've been tweaking like mad to get my propulsion system working though. My main issue is that it is very loud and noisy, but if I tweak it so it is quiet it actually barely moves anywhere... | 2010-02-17 20:44:00 Author: Mennenth Posts: 52 |
Loud and noisy? Well, there are two things you can do to correct that without altering any mechanisms. If the sound is caused by objects colliding with eachother, you can put a sound object on the object that's colliding and set it to make a sound "on impact". This will override the default impact sounds for materials (so you can put something less noisy like wind and such). If the sound is caused by bolts or pistons, setting them to invisible will cut the sound (though if you want to keep them visible the sounds have to come with). If the sound is caused by plasma balls being emitted though, I don't think there's any way to alter the sound. | 2010-02-17 20:53:00 Author: Gilgamesh Posts: 2536 |
Thanks Gilgamesh! I didn't realize I could do that with the sound objects. That will certainly help a lot. **EDIT** It works beautifully now. I found on contact only worked with some sounds, but I found a sound that fit the design and gave me inspiration on what to name it! Thanks again! | 2010-02-17 21:14:00 Author: Mennenth Posts: 52 |
Yay, published another one. It's called Secret Mission and it's probably not entirely in accordance with the rules. But I got air, land and sea covered. ^.^ | 2010-02-17 21:49:00 Author: Syroc Posts: 3193 |
**EDIT** It works beautifully now. I found on contact only worked with some sounds, but I found a sound that fit the design and gave me inspiration on what to name it! Thanks again! No problem, glad I could help! I think ambient sounds (the ones with * next to them) can't be triggered on impact because they're constant sounds. They also can't be triggered by 1-shot switches IIRC. Man, you guys are working way too fast! I haven't even gotten started yet. | 2010-02-17 22:12:00 Author: Gilgamesh Posts: 2536 |
I was thinking about making such a vechile loong before this challenge (and it was also supposed to fly) Maybe I will build something cool. | 2010-02-17 22:27:00 Author: napero7 Posts: 1653 |
starting two new projects, a robocroc, which is basically a crocodile which walks and swims, you control it from the inside of its body and also the BTR 80a which is a modern day armoured vehicle which can cross water. | 2010-02-17 23:28:00 Author: geddez12 Posts: 338 |
Something some of you may want to try that hasn't really been done yet - an amphibious submarine that doesn't float on the surface or drive across the bottom, but swims in the middle. | 2010-02-18 11:11:00 Author: Nuclearfish Posts: 927 |

I have a question for NuclearFish: if italians can't won prizes, can my uncle enter this contest with my account? He lives in France, i think he will be able to win the prize. And, if even this is not possible, can I still be a finalist (or maybe the winner ), but then the prize goes to the second? Okay well, I entered one of my vehicles. Search Xrooven and you'll find it; this one goes under water, my next entry will go over water. | 2010-02-26 01:45:00 Author: PoD CREW Posts: 268 |
Well I hope this contest doesn't get judged on the level design ( it said in the rules it wouldn't ) because if you take that out of the equation the paddlewalker isn't that special. | 2010-02-26 02:39:00 Author: mistervista Posts: 2210 |
MrVista, Sthu Duh it isnt about the level design, but you could at least be honest and say that the enviroment fits the vehicle perfectly. you are either jealous, or woke up on your wrong side. I guess it must be deep as you even said this in the level comments. for your naggings sake, I added a switch so the "judges" can go to the Vehicle instantly. | 2010-02-26 03:01:00 Author: Luos_83 Posts: 2136 |
See, you guys are doing it all wrong. You don't need 6 entries, you just need one good one Ain't that the truth! I really should get around to entering one of these again, but I need a theme that really grabs me. *fingers crossed for CC11* | 2010-02-26 13:30:00 Author: rtm223 Posts: 6497 |
After hard fight against of the "working" physics of lbp, I was finally able to finish my entry vehicle. It was really entertaining, since it was the first that kind of project what I started. In fact, it's the very first vehicle I've ever built in my lbp history but don't think "it must be bad, because it's my first one" I used alot time for designing and thinking which would make a good entry. I ended up to creating a stransforming truck-looking assault vehicle. The transformation is not just some rockets, which pops from the back, turning wheels or anything like that small. It fully transforms from a truck to a boat. The transformation system is manual, because it's more realistic. To use it properly, remember to follow the instructions Level is called CC10 - Transforming Sea Guardian: Artemis | 2010-02-26 14:27:00 Author: Unknown User |
See, you guys are doing it all wrong. You don't need 6 entries, you just need one good one I was thinking about the judges. It would be boring if they only had to go over 100 levels... | 2010-02-26 15:31:00 Author: Syroc Posts: 3193 |
on the topic of 6 entries maybe your jealous of people who have more ideas haha only messin but i entered 6 coz ive not done a CC in a long time and id never made vehicles before and i kept coming up with ideas, and besides its like a lottery ticket the more u have the higher your chances of a win tho with me its highly unlikely lol | 2010-02-26 18:14:00 Author: ghostrider135 Posts: 259 |

I want to enter, even though I'm in the US and couldn't win, just as a test and to learn some new techniques in LBP but I just can't find the time. | 2010-02-26 21:26:00 Author: shebhnt Posts: 414 |
Well I hope this contest doesn't get judged on the level design ( it said in the rules it wouldn't ) because if you take that out of the equation the paddlewalker isn't that special. I think it's really original and innovative, With all the basic Amphibious cars and transforming Vehicles is like a breath of fresh air in the stagnance | 2010-02-27 10:53:00 Author: Kern Posts: 5078 |

So is a walrus? At any rate, I cheekily uploaded something yesterday under the name of CC10 - Red Spyhunter Didn't find any other vehicles that change in quite the same way, a lot of people copied nuclear fish's example That paddle walker is cool, i'm annoyed I didn't find it last night when checking out the competition. It would be even cooler if you could make the legs stop moving when your in the water. DO YOU RECKON, there is time to upload another entry before the end of today or has it already closed? | 2010-02-27 11:54:00 Author: Asbestos101 Posts: 1114 |

At any rate, I cheekily uploaded something yesterday under the name of CC10 - Red Spyhunter Didn't find any other vehicles that change in quite the same way, a lot of people copied nuclear fish's example That wasn?t bad at all. Good and working idea and you are right, that was the first vehicle what I saw using that kind of transform. I also liked the desing and use of stickers. | 2010-02-27 13:10:00 Author: Unknown User |
Cheers belweg, I looked at your one too and Goddamit Specifically though, I like how the paddles came out from the wheels like they do. | 2010-02-27 13:26:00 Author: Asbestos101 Posts: 1114 |
Thanks : D those wheels were kinda hassle. I came up with many ideas for them, but game physics didn?t appreciate them like I wanted. >_> | 2010-02-27 14:05:00 Author: Unknown User |
I just uploaded my second (and final) entry. It's kind of an expansion of the idea of the first one but twice as complicated with 4 stages now :o CC10 - Crouching boat, hidden car I'm quite proud of it, it was very frustrating to make as it's not possible to glue it together so you have to think of other ways to hold the vehicles in place. The canopy on the boat was annoying too, had a tendancy to glue itself to EVERYTHING! | 2010-02-27 16:29:00 Author: Asbestos101 Posts: 1114 |
Great job Asbestos : D first I thought that it was just a reversed version of the spyhunter(car -> boat, boat -> car), but it was even more You totally surprised me, very clever. I don't remember if any other entry was that surprising | 2010-02-27 17:32:00 Author: Unknown User |

I don't remember if any other entry was that surprising Yeah half the fun in this particular challenge is seeing what other peoples vehicles are actually going to do. Sometimes you see a really nice car that someone made and you go "Oh, wheres he going with this then?" and all that happens is a thruster pops down from underneath and thats it. Dissapointment can't reflect well from a judges point of view. Other times you see an ugly vehicle and it unfolds spectacularly. To be honest, when I saw your artemis I was a little bit unsure about it from the shape but when it unfolded I did actually say "Phwoar!" so theres that (It reminds me a little bit of the MCV from C&C red alert 2 ) | 2010-02-27 17:53:00 Author: Asbestos101 Posts: 1114 |
Not at all. The finalists aren't picked randomly out of a hat, so quality is always more important than quantity. i could say somethin funny although rather risque to that comment but i shall refrain lol, but with more than 1 entry theres more ingenious solutions for the judges to look at and admire | 2010-02-27 17:56:00 Author: ghostrider135 Posts: 259 |

Thats a good point, how many judges will there be? I'm not quite sure. Obviosuly there's me. Chimpanzee will be helping too, and MusterBuster probably will be. Some of the Sony mods will be looking at some and some of the MVPs at the EU forums from the different languages. I think what we're doing for the first stage of judging is splitting all the levels up (probably alphabetically by creator name) and playing a handful each, then noting down any that are particularly interesting. Then from nthose that are left we'll all play them and pick the finalists. | 2010-02-27 18:50:00 Author: Nuclearfish Posts: 927 |

I was a little bit worried when I couldn't find my level if you search for CC10 in lbp itself | 2010-02-28 11:16:00 Author: Asbestos101 Posts: 1114 |

I was a little bit worried when I couldn't find my level if you search for CC10 in lbp itself Yeah, I had that too. But when I went searching in the deepest depths of the CC10 pages I found them... They probably are on the last by now. I do think my first entry is original, but it is very unpractical. Second is is a 'Robot' with some logic behind it, not more then a weird looking car, that shoots lights. Bye, -Okisaan- | 2010-02-28 12:52:00 Author: Okisaan Posts: 165 |

Hi guys, its been a while since posting here Anyway, I have published an entry for this competition which I hope you'll enjoy. "CC10 - General Lee meets Mr. T" I thought that car and the boat were nice looking except I did think that the way that the boat spawned over the car was reasonably original and essentially the exact opposite to how my one works Also, I did like the way that the boat unfolded for the car to drive out again. Uhm, actually.. The ''legs'' stop if you stop grabbing. The wheel still continue. I like it more when the legs still move tho O_o Oops, so they do. Hi again guys. As the deadline is fast approaching, I would just like to announce my 2nd (and a lot simpler) entry called "CC10 - Cardboard CAR/BOAT". It is quite a while since I published the level, but I haven't got around to announce it here until now. I hope you enjoy it | 2010-02-28 18:20:00 Author: Slaeden-Bob Posts: 605 |
Hi everyone, after I completed the story mode, the contraption challenge relit my interest into LBP, now I finished my first level! I went for a rather simple engine system since all my great ideas kept falling apart or dissolve.. If you want to try it out, I'd be very glad. It's called "CC10 - Arctic Voyage" with my Name as PSN id (or on page 20 of "cc10" levels i guess ;o ). I worked really long at this one, trying to create some atmosphere. Slaeden-Bob, I think I played your level, if there aint any other similar named ones out there, cannot really remember much after playing through dozens of entries ;D - might check it out again! Btw: I'm really proud of my selfmade water switch, since I don't have the Caribbean DLC! Edit: now i forgot that I changed my level's name prepublishing, doh! .. corrected! | 2010-02-28 19:22:00 Author: WischmoppBob Posts: 14 |
Is wischmoppbob your psn too? If it is i'll go have a looky in a bit. | 2010-02-28 19:39:00 Author: Asbestos101 Posts: 1114 |
correct, my PSN is also WischmoppBob. Thanks in advance! I'm sure my contraption is not the utter most genius one, but I'm proud of having some actual mechanical engine instead of just rockets, and it was a chance for me to learn how to implement ideas like obstacles and atmosphere! The latter at least equally consumed time as my contraption, so see it as a whole even if only the machines are being rated in the contest itself | 2010-02-28 20:24:00 Author: WischmoppBob Posts: 14 |
I played it, I thought it ran at a nice speed, slow enough to be satisfying but not too slow to be boring. However I did think the level was a bit long. Also, it's too late now, but hiding those switches mighta' been a good idea. Nice though, very steampunky. | 2010-02-28 23:54:00 Author: Asbestos101 Posts: 1114 |

The funniest part for me though was the intro. That was genius and so very very true. I have to agree with his sentiment there because all these fancy intros you see people doing now just strike me as a ridiculous waste of time and thermo which could be used for something better. Definitely worth playing just for a laugh anyway. | 2010-03-01 13:13:00 Author: mistervista Posts: 2210 |

Aww, I really want to see it but as I've got a ps3 fat the psn is playing up for me with the whole 'resetting my date back to 31st december 1999' thing. What happens in it? (the explody car one) or will it ruin the suprise? | 2010-03-01 13:46:00 Author: Asbestos101 Posts: 1114 |

I've also found some with really nice idea, but then the vehicle itself wasnt that good. It's a bit sad though. Hmm.. never played red alert 2, so I dont know that MCV btw. Yea, Slaedon-Bob, tried your vehicle. Quite a simple mechanism, but I like your development steps showcase! My project experienced some extreme changes since the very birth of my first idea - everything started with a paddled sponge! I might do a showcase addition to my contraption or in a separate level perhaps, if i get time for it. I literally tried everything from chain drive over walker to transforming wheels. Quite some funny stuff in it. Asbestos, I appreciate you playing and comment my contraption level. I kind of agree, it might have been a bit too long, I had trouble filling the gaps with some sensation, although I kind of got the hang of it at the end, with the breaking ice and stuff. My ship's that slow because I wanted to avoid the vehicle getting all wonky back and forth till it rolls over, although I think I could have increased speed after I turned down the tightness of my motors. Now with some experience I can't wait for the next challenge! MrAmorphous' level is worth a quick laugh. To know what happens beforehand would indeed ruin the point of the level, in my opinion - it is already hinted here pretty well though. You need to see for yourself -- Whoops! Didn't see the new posts. | 2010-03-01 18:09:00 Author: WischmoppBob Posts: 14 |

I built a quick test track on one layer just to get the **** thing working and entering and exiting the water properly and then after it worked and I was tarting it up I just decorated around that really haphazard test course so it's poor design is probably because of that | 2010-03-01 18:55:00 Author: Asbestos101 Posts: 1114 |

all i'm going to say is *cough Robocroc *cough.......... aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa much better Lol, that reminds me, before I even started working on my entry I looked through loads of submissions to see if people had already done my ideas, and alas somebody had already done a rideable crocodile... Grr Other ideas I had that I had to scratch before starting including having a section that floats on the surface whilst only the wheels go along the floor, some kind of turtle with retracting legs and a delorean style wheel mechanism. Obviously looking back now, those are all really popular ideas that everyones done but I only heard about the competition on the 26th or so, so I was turbo playing loads of entries to see if I could come up with an original idea that wasn't already taken in time. | 2010-03-01 20:46:00 Author: Asbestos101 Posts: 1114 |
I've played a bunch of you guys levels and found a lot of really great stuff. peeps the deadline was on sunday 28th.............................. ITS JUDGING TIME Well, it would be if we could get on the PSN. I guess judging will start when it's working again. Anywho, Sony have provided a list of 1047 CC10 levels (1045 if you don't include my 2 levels which don't count) which, considering we had 61 for the last challenge, is a slight improvement I think you might agree. Good luck to everyone who's made something, and I can't wait to see what you've all made.... whenever that may be. | 2010-03-01 21:22:00 Author: Nuclearfish Posts: 927 |

Thanks for your feedback, Belweg! I was turbo playing loads of entries to see if I could come up with an original idea that wasn't already taken in time. Don't heed others' work that much, as long as you don't aim to seriously win the challenge. One cannot avoid to have original ideas similar to other people. I try not to influence my creativity by creations of others, even if it ends up similar, I can tell that it is still original. Pretty hard to do that with over a thousand entries, too. - Anyway, you would have already got pretty good along with a contraption not being a rocket powered street car, haha! When I got the time I will try the other contraptions mentioned here! | 2010-03-01 22:42:00 Author: WischmoppBob Posts: 14 |

I try not to influence my creativity by creations of others, even if it ends up similar, I can tell that it is still original. I don't normally let what other people make in LBP (or even what particular trend level types people are popular at the time) affect what I create but this competition has taken me back to my gmod competition days (when there were bimonthly challenges) and I can't help but get a bit competitive That said, there are loads of contraptions here that I wouldn't be able to make having not seen it done first, like belweg's artemis, it's impressive. Now i've seen his I could probably make one eventually but there was no way I could have done it beforehand as well as he did first time. But even from a non-competitive point of view I love seeing how other people, given completely free choice and all the tools available, tackle a given problem. | 2010-03-01 23:37:00 Author: Asbestos101 Posts: 1114 |

Basically everyone that posted a vehicle here put time into their creation that makes it stand out from what you get if you just type in CC10 into lbp search. I know thats not helpful but if you scroll through the pages and pick some at random your bound to be impressed by the results | 2010-03-02 00:11:00 Author: Asbestos101 Posts: 1114 |
so what are the highlights to this thread? (to long for me to read) Like what are some of the best vehicles so far? Try mine and tell me what you think. I know rocket cars have been frowned upon but this one is a rocket motorcycle (and that's completely different) It was built by littlebigdude805 and myself to the specs of my three year old son. It is very fun but it takes a few tries to stick the landing at the end. I don't have the time to play all of them so I'm only playing those posted here (and the finalists). Dante's is the only one I've seen so far but I think it wasn't finished yet. It WAS amphibious/really cool at that stage tho. | 2010-03-02 00:31:00 Author: IStwisted Posts: 428 |

Congratulations to Syroc, BasketSnake and Dante95 - all of your levels are being played and judged by me! Basically what's happenned is the levels have been split up for the different language communities to play (I just hope all of them speak at least some English). Mods, community team leaders and MVPs are playing them. 150 have been giving to us at the English forum, 75 to the MVPs (and Chimpanzee), and we've split them between us. So I'm only judging a small selection of the levels. If anyone finds, knows or has made any particularly awesome levels, post them here and I'll give them a play anyway. | 2010-03-02 20:29:00 Author: Nuclearfish Posts: 927 |

If anyone finds, knows or has made any particularly awesome levels, post them here and I'll give them a play anyway. Try ours. There is a fully controllable submarine version but since time was running out I sacrificed that to save weight so it could still make the totally awesome jump at the end. Tell me what you think. you gotta play it until you stick the landing. | 2010-03-02 20:47:00 Author: IStwisted Posts: 428 |

About me entering another level with too much detail *pokes MrVista for pun* LOL, don't get me started on that one again. BTW Nuclear don't forget to play my 3 efforts. " LITTLE TITAN " is probably my favourite because it took ages to get that to fit so neatly together without jamming or breaking. Although nothings unbreakable in LBP ( except dark matter ). I can break things without trying. I even broke someone's supposed 'unbreakable' tank treads recently at the first attempt. | 2010-03-03 01:10:00 Author: mistervista Posts: 2210 |

Did you land the back flip? Err, I sort of did. It landed propped up against the far wall, like making a triangle /_I <- but not quite that extreme, it looked good anyway. | 2010-03-03 07:45:00 Author: Asbestos101 Posts: 1114 |
Err, I sort of did. It landed propped up against the far wall, like making a triangle /_I <- but not quite that extreme, it looked good anyway. we should have added a snap shot right at the end to capture the magic. The challenge for me became about making the motorbike a successful submarine with out loosing the motorbike feel (and maintaining the "turbo boost" jumping) Crouching boat hidden car was fun. I ROFL when the water skis popped out. P.S. The jump gets more fun the more sack boys you squeeze on to the motorcycle EDIT: Just finished playing all the LBPC entries. If we were voting old school CC style (each contestant picks there three favorites) then my votes would be: Syroc - Ice Hunter Lous_Desruc/Thegide - Paddlewalker xDante95x - TechnoBot And Honorable mention must go to the following: Cornishguy67 for the most bluest of the blue theamilien for the best swimming creature "Wilifred" Fredrick94 for best polystyrene circle Okisaan for the creepiest (that baby scares me) PoDCREW for the most professionally designed Wex for the funniest Asbestos101 for most transformations And the WTF award goes to BasketSnake Thanks for the rides everybody... you all win this genuine jpeg of aPSP GO http://images.pcworld.com/news/graphics/164102-sony_psp_go_350.jpg | 2010-03-03 14:44:00 Author: IStwisted Posts: 428 |
I haven't played dante's or syroc's yet but if you reckon they're good... I guess i'll check theirs out now edit : It turns out that i'd played icebreaker before, I just hadn't realised it was made by an lbpc member. It really makes me think of something that you might be able to drive in a game like Overlord II or Brutal Legend, I particularly like how the wheels twist to become paddles, it's done well. I also like how he broke up the dragon prop and turned it into a spiney thing that runs down the back of the machine. Technobot was odd, lol. It isn't built like any vehicle you've seen before so you can't possibly work out how it's going to change. And I played paddlewalker before. | 2010-03-04 10:22:00 Author: Asbestos101 Posts: 1114 |
@Dante: My only criticism is the end. The floor rising out of nowhere was kind of anti-climactic. I could see it jumping out of the water and transforming mid air and landing on the scoreboard platform. That would rock. | 2010-03-04 14:34:00 Author: IStwisted Posts: 428 |

So is the winner going to get decided by the judges then annoucned or is it going to get to the finalists and then open to a vote? I hope for the former, I think the judges would be a lot fairer than a vote. Obviously the previous challenges were decided by votes of 3 like IStwisted so kindly treated us to an example of , but now theres something tangible to win and it would just cut down quarrelling and whinging (Not necessarily from this community, I know that for the most part we're quite mature, but other people might say that LBPC is biased and votes for their own or something, i'm just guessing ). (Also as to why they would be fairer, one example would be that the judges would be sure to only measure and compare the actual contraptions and not the level that contains them whereas not all voters would) | 2010-03-05 14:15:00 Author: Asbestos101 Posts: 1114 |
before, the contestants picked the 3 finalists and then the winner was picked by judges. now, the judges narrow it down and make a video of the finalists and then anybody can vote for the winner on the playstaion forum. the first method worked when there were limited numbers of entries. but there's too many entries now to expect each contestant to play them all. This new way works well i think cuz judges get to pick the finalists but the community still picks the winner. | 2010-03-05 14:41:00 Author: IStwisted Posts: 428 |
It has to be done by judges with that many levels. and atleast this way lemon and gravy wont win. | 2010-03-05 14:45:00 Author: robotiod Posts: 2662 |

In any case there will be always people who don't just rate the contraption, many may let the level desing also affect to their vote, which just wouldn?t be fair. | 2010-03-05 14:50:00 Author: Unknown User |

Although, if there was a video compilation showing the finalist contraptions only, they would remove all the footage of the level before hand so that might not be so bad. | 2010-03-05 15:26:00 Author: Asbestos101 Posts: 1114 |
This is how it's working. All 1045 levels were split up to each lanmguage community at the EU playstation forums. Us at the English forum had 150 to play through (I've judged about 40 myself). We've given them marks out of 10 for creative flair, originality and functionality. EDIT 2: Removed part of this post because the way we're doing the next part has changed slightly. I'll let you know later what's going on. EDIT: Regarding the posts above about the rest of the level, we've at least been judging it only on the contraptions. When the public vote comes some people will obviously judge the level too. Shouldn't be too much of a problem though, as the winning CC09 contraption had a very basic and empty level and it still got the most votes. | 2010-03-05 16:37:00 Author: Nuclearfish Posts: 927 |
Well... i'm reasonably happy with that then, theres a lot of judge involvement so it seems for the most part fair Edit : Oohh, can't wait to see | 2010-03-05 16:59:00 Author: Asbestos101 Posts: 1114 |

Epic rant time! Well, judging is now finished. There's 7 finalists (may still be further narrowed down to 6 or 5, and I just need to replay them all to make sure they really are finalist worthy). The finalists should be recorded and put into a video this weekend ready for the voting to start early next week. If I say so myself, getting 1045 levels judged in 5 days is pretty good going (particualrly as it took Sony months to judge that golf competition last year). Once we had marks out of 30 for every level, I took a look at the highest scoring 61 (the ones which had scored 24 or above) to pick the finalists. Turns out some of the other judges must have been slightly mad or just have never seen a good LBP creation before, because some levels which must have taken 2 minutes to make were still in that list. It's pretty unlikely any really good ones were missed though, which I suppose is the important thing. The big problem is there's actually 109 levels that scored 24 or more, but almost half of them were disqualified for being from the US or anywhere that basically wasn't in the T&C's. Unfortunately these were checked by seeing where the PSN was from, which means anyone who is from the EU but published the level on a US account was automatically disqualified. Beleieve me, I'm annoyed by that too. Sorry if that affects any of you (which I know it does). There's nothing that can be done about it now. After playing a load of levels it's clear who entered only to win and who entered because they just love creating stuff. As I said a while ago, the prize is only a bonus, so the important thing is that you had fun. And don't forget, I did promise all those who aren't elibible for the prize won't go unnoticed, so as well as the finalist video Chimp is going to be making an extra video too, a kind of "Other entries we really liked". Any which didn't make the finalists, or were disqualified, could still make it into this video (and I'll see if I can get it on the PlayStation Blog too). | 2010-03-06 00:08:00 Author: Nuclearfish Posts: 927 |
Some one was quick to point out in the comments of my entry that my vehicle "isn't amphibious because it doesn't go back on land" At least the rules don't require it to Edit : And that update was amazing, sorry I ninja'd you within the same second, lol | 2010-03-06 00:10:00 Author: Asbestos101 Posts: 1114 |
Hahahaha, I never thought of it as a picnic table! Great observation! Isn?t it axiomatic? It looked like a table and had the bottles, and food on top of it, what else it could be? Good job with the judging That extra video is a nice gesture, it surely means a lot for those who get their contraption on it. It's also good to see if I missed some good one while checking out others contraptions, since there?s no way I were able to check them all : D and Asbestos, dont let it put you down, your contraption is just amphibious a bit different way, but it still is amphibious | 2010-03-06 11:51:00 Author: Unknown User |

Ok the cc10 crew are just a bunch of idiots. I am European, I am dutch. Yet though even Nuke told me he liked our PaddleWalker we got disqualified for me having a American account. I have a Dutch ID, I live in The Netherlands, In europe. I can prove it, I can even get an original letter from the goverment stating I live in the Netherlands. I use the American account as my brother got a europese one and one of my close friends use a japanese account on my PS3. (for game-demo's mostly) And Now we got dsiqualified because those retards think I do not live in Europe. CC crew, Instead of brainlessly make a assumption, you could have checked or at least asked for any proof that I live in the god-ffin-dam Netherlands. This is just stupid, retarded, infantile ffin stupid. If the crew does not set this straight... They lost all my respect. Have you not ffin read your own rules, It doesnt stay anywhere that you need a EUROPESE ACCOUNT to enter, Just a working one. So are we making up rules atm? Edit, yes I was(am) angry, Got good reasons of why. | 2010-03-08 12:21:00 Author: Luos_83 Posts: 2136 |
I asked MusterBuster if it was ok to use the address of my uncle who lives in France, and he said there weren't problems, if the address was valid, but I thought to change it if I was a finalist, so that I was able to have the prize. I think that disqualify these creators wasn't a good idea, it's possible that many of them will have a friend, a cousin or other people who lives in a country able to win the prize. | 2010-03-08 13:32:00 Author: Dante95 Posts: 504 |
Official letter to Nuclear Fish: Ok, after cooling down a bit... I want to make a few things clear. I did not break there rules as there is no rule stating you need a EU psn. Have you read your own rules? http://community.eu.playstation.com/t5/LittleBigPlanet-PS3-General/Contraption-Challenge-10-Amphibious-Vehicle/td-p/10196420 I think you should do that. so if you enter that one, make sure you publish the level on an EU PSN. http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/../images/smilies/1/wink.gifVery stupid comment, as I did not break the rules and is a slap in the face if you just got disqualified, especially if you got disqualified for something that is not mentioned by the rules. as you can read in this section: This promotion is open to residents of the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Netherlands, Portugal, Poland, Russia, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Belgium, Ireland and Luxembourg aged 18 years or over. In all cases, MVPs (“Most Valued PlayStationers” shall not be entitled to enter. To be able to enter this promotion, entrants must have access to the game LittleBigPlanet™ and a PlayStation?3.To enter, entrants must complete the following steps during the Promotion Period: (i) create a PlayStation?Network account (PSN account) or if one already exists, sign in to their PSN account (ii) use the ‘Create’ mode within LittleBigPlanet™ to create a contraption (iii) upload their finished contraption as a level into the LittleBigPlanet Community via the in-game creation tools. Broadband internet required. The contraption must successfully perform the challenge set by the Promoter and should conform to any conditions laid down by the Promoter within the competition announcement (please click on [ ] for details). In order to be considered as an entry, all contraptions uploaded must be labelled “[CC10]”. Registration for PSN is subject to acceptance of the PSN Terms of Service and User Agreement and PSN Privacy Policy. (http://eu.playstation.com/legal/) (http://eu.playstation.com/legal/) 1. I am a resident in the city of "Dordrecht, The Netherlands". 2. I have access to the lbp game and a ps3, I created a PSN, though a US one, nothing states it has to be a EU account. 3. I have broadband. 4. Rule 3 of the "general rules"actually is in my favour, as It states that I might need to identify myself. I suggest you read rule 3 really carefully! You cannot state there is a rule that forbids european users with accounts other than the european ones. I hereby demand that you annul my disqualification. Or I will take further steps in getting my right, as You denied my right to enter. Greetings, Yoeri "Luos_Desruc" Vleer (phone number, adress, birth date added) If there was any rule stating I needed an EU PSN account I would have used my brothers Acc. as its EU PSN. Unfortunately these were checked by seeing where the PSN was from, which means anyone who is from the EU but published the level on a US account was automatically disqualified. Beleieve me, I'm annoyed by that too. http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/../images/smilies/1/frown.gif Sorry if that affects any of you (which I know it does). There's nothing that can be done about it now. So that means for no reason (as it is not stated in the rules) you disqualified people. General rule number 3! GENERAL RULE NUMBER 3!!! I hereby ask everybody who got disqualified for reasons other than what the rules state to join my cause. | 2010-03-08 13:37:00 Author: Luos_83 Posts: 2136 |
I support Nuclearfish in what ever he decides is right. This is just a game and it's his contest. I don't envy anyone involved with running this contest. Personally if it were me I'd cancel CC10 and make the official CC10 video of me burning the PSP GO. That being said The Paddle Walker is clearly one of the best entries and they deserve to have this appeal considered. | 2010-03-08 14:33:00 Author: IStwisted Posts: 428 |
I agree with Luos. Nowhere did the rules state that he needed to publish the level under an European PSN. And he used like.. perhaps 15-30 hours working on everything, he deserves to be allowed to enter. Well, yeah... Thats my op. EDIT: IStwisted, even though NuclearFish is the one holding the contest, and he is the one deciding the rules etc. It is wrong when he won't allow luos' contraption to be able to win, when luos isn't breaking any of the rules in order to enter. | 2010-03-08 14:34:00 Author: Fredrik94 Posts: 342 |
I support Nuclearfish in what ever he decides is right. This is just a game and it's his contest. And rules should be followed accordingly, If the contest creator is not following his own rules accordingly they should cancel the contests. | 2010-03-08 14:35:00 Author: Luos_83 Posts: 2136 |
I agree that publishing the qualifying criteria of a European PSN after the actual deadline is quite unfair, but I doubt calling names and threatening will bring us any further on this matter. | 2010-03-08 15:45:00 Author: WischmoppBob Posts: 14 |
I have to agree that it is a very hamfisted way of eliminating people that are ineligible and with that many entrants it's just unlucky that some one with a strong entry got burnt by it. Out of interest, whose funding this prize? Is it sony? If so then maybe nuclearfish has to abide by their rules and can't just change it up or break them willy nilly. Just a thought... | 2010-03-08 15:56:00 Author: Asbestos101 Posts: 1114 |
Lous is right, to win the prize you must be in one of the listed countries, not to publish the level. My PSN is EU but I have an address in France where the prize can be shipped. Same for Lous, he only used an USA account, but he has a good address. Only a fool will ask to win with a wrong address! | 2010-03-08 15:58:00 Author: Dante95 Posts: 504 |
Out of interest, whose funding this prize? Is it sony? If so then maybe nuclearfish has to abide by their rules and can't just change it up or break them willy nilly. they are part of sony's rules, rules they dont follow themselves. Nuke should adress this to Sony, as Rule 3 clearly is in my favour. calling names and threateningI didnt threat. I was following the rules, sony/nuke did not. I am in my right, and they came up with some lame reason to disqualify some people. No wonder I am calling names, how would you react if they take away your right to enter a competition for a reason thats not mentioned in the rules. | 2010-03-08 15:58:00 Author: Luos_83 Posts: 2136 |
Eh not to play devil's advocate or anything, but I sort of assumed that having an EU PSN account would have been a prerequisite for qualification. Not that it proves anything, but this is exactly the kind of thing I would expect Sony to demand. This is ironic, given that anyone with a PS3, anywhere, can register an EU PSN ID. I have one... it's registered in Austria. Sorry Luos, had I known your account was NA-based, I'd have advised you to register one. Nuclearfish, I'm sorry you had to be the bearer of bad news. It's an uncomfortable situation to be sure, but it's OK, it's not like we're going to hold you responsible. No hard feelings, I promise. I do agree, however, that the rules need to be stated more clearly next time. This situation does seem unfair. Under the current circumstances, however, I do think that Sony should appeal their decision for any residents in this position should they be able to provide proof of residency. But I really don't think arguing would matter much at this point. No, because rather than get their legal department involved it would be simpler for them to ensure the entry wasn't going to be judged as a winner, anyways. So, to make a long story short, it sucks, but that's life. I didn't enter to win a PSP, I entered to have fun and to show creators there's more to life than cars with rockets slapped to them. Given the accolades we've received on the design, I feel like a winner regardless and that's not something anybody can take away. In the future, it might be nice if you can get NA accounts eligible, even if non-EU winners must settle for a crown or something instead of a PSP. I know Mm is an EU company, but the game is loved by everyone. I think a lot more people would enter if they were eligible. I'm going to have to pass on CC11, though, I've had my fun and made my point. | 2010-03-08 16:28:00 Author: Thegide Posts: 1465 |

Firstly, I have nothing to do with the rules or who gets disqualified. It's a Sony event and that's up to them. I just make the challenges and help judge them. Secondly, I'm pretty sure it's against some Sony terms and conditions somewhere that you aren't supposed to have a PSN account for a region you don't live. If you're not from the US then you're not supposed to have a US account. I admit this isn't clear in the T&C's, and I didn't know entering with a US account would even be a problem. If I had known I would have told everyone. Thirdly, Paddlewalker was one of my favourite entries, and I tried to stop it getting disqualified but there was nothing I could do. Luos, I can pass your complaints onto Sony if you want (or you can try contecting them about it yourself), but I'm not sure you'll get very far with it. | 2010-03-08 20:33:00 Author: Nuclearfish Posts: 927 |

Luos, I can pass your complaints onto Sony if you want (or you can try contecting them about it yourself), but I'm not sure you'll get very far with it. Yes do so, I will contact them myself as well. Thanks man! | 2010-03-08 23:40:00 Author: Luos_83 Posts: 2136 |
Nuclearfish, on the last contraption challenge G-man's "avlb" was an edited version of a tank I was giving away as a prize, and he made it into the finalists I guess it's too late to do anything now but is that kind of thing allowed? | 2010-03-09 01:51:00 Author: Incinerator22 Posts: 3251 |
The finalists video is finsihed! The votiong should be starting later today or this evening. I'll update this threads when it starts. Nuclearfish, on the last contraption challenge G-man's "avlb" was an edited version of a tank I was giving away as a prize, and he made it into the finalists I guess it's too late to do anything now but is that kind of thing allowed? Sorry, been meaning to reply to your PM about that for a while but kept forgetting. Unfortunately yes, it's too late to do anything about it (and was when you first sent the PM) as the cvhallenge has been and gone. At least AVLB didn't win. In CC09 there wasn't actually any rule saying it had to be completely your own work, but that's because I didn't think anyone would do anything like that. I'm not sure if it's in the T&C's anywhere on CC10, but all the finalists this time at least are completely original (although I did come across some extremely well made vehicles by creators with nothing but H4H and bomb survival levels published, so I assume they copied them from somewhere, but they didn't get very far in the judging). So, thanks for letting me know about it, but there isn't really much that can be done I'm afraid. | 2010-03-09 10:21:00 Author: Nuclearfish Posts: 927 |
I do not understand why this contest is still processing while there are rules that got broken. unfair. | 2010-03-09 11:48:00 Author: Luos_83 Posts: 2136 |

MusterBuster is not responding to my email/private message. So I also contacted Scee. I am not letting this go, I want at least an official appology from Sony, but I rather have the Paddlewalker back in the contest. | 2010-03-09 17:24:00 Author: Luos_83 Posts: 2136 |
Quick. MusterBuster isn't on his comfy couch...sticker it and upload pixxxxxx | 2010-03-09 19:34:00 Author: BasketSnake Posts: 2391 |

BTW Luos may I just ask out of interest who actually made the paddlewalker contraption. | 2010-03-09 20:05:00 Author: mistervista Posts: 2210 |
y I just ask out of interest who actually made the paddlewalker contraption. Is that so you can take a personal slant at Luos if he didn't? | 2010-03-09 20:07:00 Author: Kern Posts: 5078 |
Is that so you can take a personal slant at Luos if he didn't? What do you mean by 'a personal slant'. If you mean to say something bad then no. Luos and myself resolved any differences we may or may not have had a while ago. I simply ask because if TheGide made it then that may explain why Sony made the decision they did as I believe he is American. I'm not saying who's right or wrong either way. I'm not going down that road again thanks very much. I'll sit firmly on the fence on this one. I was just looking for an explanation. | 2010-03-09 20:34:00 Author: mistervista Posts: 2210 |

I simply ask because if TheGide made it then that may explain why Sony made the decision they did as I believe he is American. I think TheGide made the contraption and Luos made the environment (although I could be wrong). I know that had nothing to do with the disqualification though, it was entirely because Luos is using a US account (which, as I've said before, is breaking the terms of service you agree to when creating a PSN account because you're providing false information). Anywho, there's been a bit of a delay to the voting, but it should be starting tomorrow afternoon. There's going to be a thread at the Playstation forums with six posts, one for each finalist. To vote you'll need to kudo the post for your favourite entry. It's a bit annoying doing it this way because to give kudos you need to have already been a member for a week or two and have a few posts, but apparantly it's the best way of doing it for now. Next challenge there should be something a bit better instead. | 2010-03-09 21:21:00 Author: Nuclearfish Posts: 927 |

Will we still get the video tonight? Well, the video is on YouTube right now, only it's private. I'm waiting until the voting starts to reveal who the finalists are. | 2010-03-09 22:57:00 Author: Nuclearfish Posts: 927 |

By the way - like with the last challenge, the videos were edited just to show the contraption, so the beginning and end will be cut out to get straight to it. In Belweg's case, we also cut a bit out the middle because it's a very long time in the water, but thanks to Chimp's awesome video ediitng skillz you can't really tell. Just thought I'd let you all know! | 2010-03-10 13:23:00 Author: Nuclearfish Posts: 927 |
Probably I won't vote... Oh, here's the Pm I sent to MB and the reply he sent me: Hi MusterBuster, sorry for disturbing you, I have a quick question about the prize of CC10. Since I live in Italy, I can't win the prize, but can my uncle entry to this Challenge with my account? He lives in France, so he will be able to win the prize. I think this won't be out rules, since he is over 18 and lives in a country accepted in the list. Thank you! Yes, as long as he understands that we must send the prize to the address registered on the PSN Account which authors the level. MB He didn't say that I had to change it before the finalists choice. | 2010-03-10 13:43:00 Author: Dante95 Posts: 504 |
I'm very disappointed by the voting mechanism since it excludes me from participating. Anyway, congratulations to Asbestos and Belweg to reach the finals! Gotta go replay them all to decide which is my personal best. | 2010-03-10 15:09:00 Author: WischmoppBob Posts: 14 |

I don't get to vote either, lol I am very suprised, I was certain I wasn't going to make it this far with all the other amazing entries that got put forth | 2010-03-10 16:47:00 Author: Asbestos101 Posts: 1114 |
Im still voting for the paddlewalker though. Still no responce from either musterbuster or Scea. Ill give it a week, if not its just neglecting their duties. | 2010-03-10 17:16:00 Author: Luos_83 Posts: 2136 |

Gotta go replay them all to decide which is my personal best. I cant vote either but thanks Bob I kinda was surprised when I saw my contraption at the end, since Artemis was my very first vehicle I made. Congrats for you too Asbestos I think you deserved it, since your contraption was so cleverly made. It's a good example how simple idea may turn out as a great outcome. btw. this is a little offtopic but does anybody know why I am not able to view lbpcentral normally anymore? It started last night, my firefox just says address not found and it's just this site. There?s no any updates, which could cause it. However I was able to come here by using proxy, so any ideas? | 2010-03-10 18:35:00 Author: Unknown User |

Pff, no walrus! Ignorants! The lot of you!!!! I wonder whether my submarine level was within the rules. Just out of curiosity really. I'd say it is isn't. | 2010-03-10 20:00:00 Author: Syroc Posts: 3193 |
Warning - this post will probably end up being rather long! Firstly, sorry to everyone who is unable to vote! The plan was to do it the same way as last time using a simple poll, which I think only required you to sign in with your PSN and vote, but that wasn't possible this time. We've done it this way because it's the easiest way to check the voting and who has voted if we need to (and of course it prevents anyone creating multiple accounts to vote with, although I doubt anyone would go to that extreme anyway). For CC11 something a bit better should hopefully be in place. Now, I'm going to give me feedback on each of the finalists (if you can vote and want to, I advise doing that before reading this so I don't influence anyone's opinion) and all the levels in general. Land / Sea Vessel by falcon-636 There were a lot of vehicles like this, but most of them were either very similar to my example or were just a ship with wheels that popped out. What I really like about Land / Sea Vessel is how much it changes - one second it looks just like a boat, the next it looks just like a car (rather than a boat with wheels), yet you can still see bits of the boat in the car and vice versa. It's not the most unique but it's certainly the best of the car turning into boat contraptions (in my opinion anyway). Crouching boat, hidden car by Asbestos101 The only level I played which literally made my jaw drop. After it turned into a car I sat there thinking it was shame that was all it did because it wouldn't be able to go back into the water like that, and then was completely amazed when it proved me wrong. And the surprises just kept coming. It's the only one of the bunch that isn't reusable so it's not quite perfect, but that wasn't a requirement anyway. After looking at the vehicle(s) in create mode a few minutes ago it's become even more impressive, I'm amazed how everything fits together! OctoCab by fluxlasers Definately not the best looking contraption, but one of, if not the, most original in the way it moves. I know it's really just rockets powering it, but the timing and movement of the tentacles is beautiful, and it feels like it's actually swimming. It's just a shame more work wasn't done making the exterior look a bit nicer, and it feels more like it should be a boat than an amphibious vehicle because the land part is a bit lacking. Haunted Carriage by Orava1988 This is kind of the opposite to OctoCab - it looks really good but seems to be better as a land vehicle than a water one. What really makes this contraption better is when you play the level yourself and see the part at the end showing how the contraption is made, including a glass version of the carriage with all workings and logic visible. Like CRouching boat, it's amazing how it all fits inside, and you really begin to appreciate that this is a vehicle that must have taken a long time to get perfect. CThe Crazy Wheel by monday1235 There were quite a few 'wheel' contraptions made for this challenge, but none of them worked too great. Monday's wheel is different - it pretty much works perfectly, and although it's the only finalist that doesn't change in any way when it goes in water, it feels like one of the few vehicles that's been designed puposefully to work on both land and water, rather than being one thing on land and something else on water. I know at the start I said wanted to see vehicles that did transform, and in most cases the transforming ones were better, but nothing really beats this for its simplicity. Artemis by Belweg The biggest amphibious vehicle I've ever seen. Whilst it's very slow in water (I joined Chimp to record it so we could use the boost at the same time), what I like about this one is how detailed it looks, and the transformation is one of the best I've seen. There's not too much to say about this one, although I would have liked to have heard some more sound effects and perhaps some different camera angles throughout the experience to see more of the vehicle. General thoughts about all CC10 levels A few things I want to mention: A lot of vehicles transformed, but few of them had purpose for the transformations other than for showing off. A lot of them left me thinking "well what was the point in that? It would have still worked on water even if it hadn't all folded in on itself". I felt there needed to be some sort of reason why a vehicle woulkd need to change rather than just changing for the sake of it. Vehicle speeds. A lot moved quick on land but took forever to cross the water. There's nothing wrong with using extra rockets to speed things up, of just make the water section a bit smaller. Most of the contraptions feel into 2 categories - thos that looked good but weren't very original, and those that were original but didn't look that great. In my opinion the latter is the better to be in (although one that does both really well would be best ). It was a bit of a dissapointment to play some awesome looking contraptions, only to be let down when they went into the water because nothing much happened. Anyway, that's what I think (seems a lot of critism actually... but hey, you can't improve if I only gave positive feedback). | 2010-03-10 20:50:00 Author: Nuclearfish Posts: 927 |
I like how, looking up through your own opinions on all of the contrapions, there ended up being 6 entries that all are strongest in their own ways. Like, all of them take the challenge from a slightly different angle or with a different mind set. In this competition I did notice a lot of different schools of thought forming on what the winning criteria for this competition were going to be and how people exploded out in all different directions with it. I think this was one of the best CC's so far because of how varied the contraptions have turned out and Nuke should be congratulated on that. Anyhoo, vehicles I suspect to see in the favourites video include; Wex's 'Mr T vs General Lee' ? - Red and White v2.1 ( i think it was) steve_big_guns 'Flip Flop' Paddlewalker Syroc - Icehunter Geddez - Robocroc Dante - technobot What else? | 2010-03-10 21:26:00 Author: Asbestos101 Posts: 1114 |

Hey, thanks! after looking at what you said, despite the fact the video has already been recorded etc. i've improved the asthetics a little, Making it look MORE like a car on land and MORE like a boat on water I also removed those ghastly green switches with a ship's steering wheel [name??] and a car seat. It took me 4 hours just to make the windscreen work like the roof, by folding out to the side to make it almost symetrical. Anyways, i would be more than happy if you could check it out sometime and maybe comment on the changes? Thanks. I just regret not making these changes earlier, I just didn't have the ideas then i suppose... Congratulations to the other finalists, and Asbestos in particular! Looks like your storming ahead!
