My first PSP level. Bit of a nightmare to make as the bolts kept on migrating.

Level: Tribal Transaction

The beginning did look very good, but i have one big problem: I dont have 100% of the prices and the required star sticker is one the things i missed. We discussed using sticker switches a while ago in an other thread (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=21931-Question-about-using-sticker-switch-on-levels). Of course its not your fault that i am too lazy...
But i would really like to give some feedback (and i will not be the only one who cant play your level)

You can actually use any sticker. The star is not required.

Hi, TeeBaG. You did very good level. I like adventure-styles level with various obstacles and puzzles and your level is good example of well such type levels. Your level has good story, very well obstacles and very good level design with fine decorations! My respect for this. You did great job with corner tool and all looks very believable (and additional respect with this imitation of light sources ).Gameplay fun and not too difficult. All puzzles have not too complex solution. All done very well. My 5 :star:, heart and heart of creator for you.2010-02-09 17:00:00

Thanks for the comments, glad people like it. Haberlicious the portal is mad from 2 cylinders that have a thin line going from the out side of the cylinder to the inside, a rotation bolt is on both of these. I then converted the cylinders to a red gas and a blue gas. The check point is on a piston and has a colour switch on it; the piston is attached to a dissolvable square. There is a proximity switch just after the check point that is attached to the piston and set to direction. As the player triggers the switch the piston moves towards the dissolve material as the check points comes into contact with the dissolve material the colour switch dissolves the square and the check point falls down.2010-02-10 09:36:00

Since I saw your amazing promotion tactics (the poster and the cinema-like screenshots), I was looking forward to play your level. But I couldn't do it until 30 minutes ago.

I enjoyed the ride. Clever puzzles, interesting platforming sections... and one of the best visuals in LBP PSP. The village, the waterfall, the idol... everything looks impressive.

My favourite puzzle was the one where you had to push around the mirrors to make the light reflect. That was surprising, and very Uncharted/Tomb Raider. Well done.

As for complains: some sections needed more checkpoints (one at the entrance of the cave, for example), while some checkpoints were on weird places (the one above the spinning wheel... it's too easy to die when you go back to that checkpoint). Also, the last temple seemed out of place, IMHO didn't fit with the previous locations. Certain parts could benefit from magic mouths and custom cameras telling you what has changed or where can you go now.

But like I said, this is an impressive level. 5 stars and hearted. After today's chaos because of the patch, I really needed to play a level as good as this, so thank you!

By the way, TeeBaG, I found only 2 of 3 hiding objects - gear and sony Logo (logo is amazing!!!!) and could not find third one. I played 3 times and can not understand - where is it? Can you give some small hint? 2010-02-11 08:45:00

Thanks Lleonard-Pler, there were a few changes I wanted to make but I built the level before the update and every time I would make change something would break. The check point for exsample was placed in error but when I moved it all bolts would disappear and placing more magic mouths caused the level to crash. Now the update is out I can improve on a few things 2010-02-11 21:11:00

Hey TeeBaG,

Gosh, levels are finally revving up in quality . I must say that your level was deserving of that movie poster: it was an adventure of cinematic proportions! At first I was baffled by your title because "tribal" and "transaction" had conflicting connotations of primitiveness and civilization, but at the beginning of your level, this concern was made irrelevant by your use of humor. I loved the irony of the tribe as financially vulnerable to mortgage payments...hehe...that made my day.

And your characters deserve an Oscars for their design . Your out-of-the-box use of stickers was beyond anything I could have ever imagined, and the subtle animations you gave them from the simple swinging motion to a merely exposed magic mouth made them really lively.

As others before me have already mentioned, this is one beautiful movie set. I loved how you managed to seamlessly incorporate the puzzle and platforming elements with the scenery, especially that lighting puzzle. Like Lleonard, that was my favorite part. I also like the little animations you put here and there, like the clogging of the waterfall and the rise of the idol triggered by the ruby. This was a genius way of creating that movie-like feel.

So here are my suggestions, some of which have already been touched by others. First, I agree with Lleonard that the checkpoint above the spinning wheel was awkwardly placed. I died several times before I could actually jump into the adjacent platform. Second, I feel a checkpoint is needed at the entry to the cave in the beginning section. I died at the waterfall and respawned at the beginning, and I felt slightly annoyed at the distance traveled. Traversing those initial scenes no longer had any purpose, so I think it would be a good idea to place a checkpoint after entering the cave...

Also like Lleonard, I felt some scenes, although beautiful, didn't fit the initial plot and setting. In particular, the snowy section just seemed out of place. I just couldn't really see the connection with the whole level except for the character you put there. I did, however, like the portal you created...that was a stroke of genius. Also in this section, you could see the dissolve material and emitters in the electric snow-platforming area. It's not a big deal, but it was distracting.

But hey, the highlights of this level definitely outweigh those minor issues, and I really felt you directed one heck of an amazing adventure movie with a well designed cast of characters and breathtaking scenery.

Two thumbs up and a "must see [and play]" movie! You did an absolutely fantastic job and it deserves nothing less than 5:star:s, a heart, and an author heart. Looking forward to more of your levels!

Paying the tribe's debt,

One question. When did god give you these great lbp level creating abilities? This level was so great that I said "This is great!!!". Keep on creating great things for everyone to enjoy... or else... just joking but seriously great level.2010-02-12 03:53:00

Thanks for all the feedback, once I get my "Go" charged up I'll fix the check point stuff. I would have fixed it before but it was built pre patch and it was a little un-stable. Thanks again for taking time out to leave such extensive feedback.2010-02-13 08:33:00

Wonderful level, both visually and in terms of the story and mechanics, you've incorporated some really good ideas.

Unfortunately, I didn't finish it as when I got the idol thing I went the wrong way and fell into the hole where the waterfall used to be and couldn't get it back out. Since you're changing your level anyway, it might help to make the material that covers up the hole static, as it just slid out of the way. I'll have another crack at it when I've played through some of the other levels I haven't played yet, but regardless of my mishap, great job on an excellent level.

Just catching up on my levels, and finally played this gem. It's totally awesome!

First things first. You have your own movie poster! Brilliant. If that alone doesn't make everyone want to play this then I don't know what will. I love your character designs - the asymmetrical eyeballs thing is hilarious, charming, and unique. You did a fabulous job with the stickering and decoration, and your corner editing skills are nothing to sneeze at for sure. I like the part with the 2 stars and how you may be able to reveal a secret, although to be honest that bit was a little confusing. I still don't know if I revealed a secret or not.... And was I supposed to sticker both stars? With which sticker? Or perhaps that's the point. Well anyway, unique gameplay mechanic there and fairly well implemented. Your puzzles are great, especially the one where you need to shine the beams of light. Your challenges and obstacles are well designed and have a very original flavor, such as the rotating grabby half-circles and the bouncy floor with the electrified ceiling.

I don't have many complaints at all. The ice caves do seem slightly out of place, but then again this is supposed to be an adventure, right? I mean, just look at falling raft sequence from The Temple of Doom. They travel from snow to forest to river to jungle all in about 60 seconds, so your ice cave bit is certainly justifiable. Generally speaking, I noticed a lot of things around your level were not glued down. Everything seems like you can stumble on it and/or kick it around but it isn't clear if that was intentional or not. There's a plant here that moves, a spike strip there that comes loose, etc. The light puzzle, although very good, is wonky. The lights tip over easily and kind of fall apart because of the heavy glass circle on top of the lightweight grabbable bases. They still work to solve the puzzle, which is good.

Don't let my gripes give you the wrong idea though - this level is 100% brilliant and an easy recommendation. 5 stars and a heart without batting an eye.

I was a bit surprised to see all the Meta data on my level vanish. I was expecting it work just like the PS3 LBP.2010-02-19 07:17:00

Yes, that aspect of LBP PSP is a bit disappointing. Cambridge is aware of it and will hopefully eventually fix that, but you never know how easy or difficult certain changes may be.2010-02-19 07:26:00

Hi, TeeBaG! I tried new version of your level and find that all new changes made it more excellent. Only one comment - in new version I have now a little lags in different places. And for this reason in some place it's more difficult to pass through obstacles. Why level has this lags - I don't know - I think that you change not many things, but something brings to this lags.
But anyway - level is very cool. My once again 5 stars and heart for it. And by the way - I didn't find third hiding object yet.

Hi Domik12 The 3rd prize bubble is on the green vine with red spikes. It's hidden behind 2 leaves, you need to jump to get it. Shhhh don't tell anyone 2010-02-19 09:15:00

I like your level for most of the things the others have said, but I'm not giving it a five because even with such a good idea for a story, there was still no compelling ending. Couldn't you have launched back up in the sky and have the player land in an ending area? Regardless, a great level, and you have a ton of potential, so keep it up.

:star::star::star::star: and a heart from me.

The original ending was very different. You fell into the pits of hell where you powered a raft along a river of lava. You then came to a cave where estate agents and bank managers are born in eggs. the player then had to defeat a puppet bank manager to get their hands on the treasure.

I had to drop this though for 2 reasons:
1. It jarred with the over all level
2. It ran at about 2 frames a second

Wow, I have no idea why I haven't left feedback for this level yet. I played it almost immediately after you made your thread about it, but something must have happened before I had a chance to leave feedback and I ended up forgetting about it...

Anyway, this level is a lot of fun. Some of the "fetching" that you have the player do feels very fresh, and the character models are brilliant. I especially liked the part where you had the player grab the pick ax to cut the rope to stop the water from flowing.

Another part that I absolutely loved was where you get flung up to the floating area. I don't know what it was about it, but that just looked and felt awesome. It gave me a sort of "Wow" moment The last part that really stuck out to me was the part where you reflect the light, but I also had some issues with that part which you can see below...

I had a few small issues with the level that I am sure that you have already heard about. First of all, I had a terrible time with the second glass reflector (the one on the left) that you use to reflect the light up to solve the puzzle. Since it didn't have a base, it was really easy to flip over because it is sooo top heavy due to the glass, and once it is tipped over, it is hard to get right-side-up. I ended up flipping it about 3 or 4 times before finally getting it to the right spot That was a bit irritating, but I managed

There was also a part where there are a series of inclined planes side by side, and you have to use them to jump up to a higher area (it's the part where you are going to block the waterfall). I had no problem with this, but my wife had an AWFUL time, and she actually gave up on the level and had me do it (which she has NEVER done on LBP PS3 or PSP that I can remember) because she was so frustrated. I just thought you should know so that maybe you would not include something like that in your next level, but at the same time, I had not problem with it.

Well, that's all I've got Keep up the awesome work!
