The Fantastical Adventure!

I have a new project I am hoping will contain 8 levels to create a fun story.
Each level will be loosely based off each environment of the story mode. Gardens, Savannah etc.
Check out My creations if you wish to see some screenshots of Part One.

The story will be revealed when you play the levels

Thanks!

Ok, I'll try to give feedback as I play the level

The first character I meet, the prince, looks great, but I don't find the magic mouth right...

The visuals are very appealing and I find the style very MM-ish. I'm sure you know what I mean. :] The gamplay is very fun.

Some of the sound objects are visible, and I't looks like it's not on purpose (last thingy on the part where you need to jump up on those.. thingies/guys..)
Uhm now I'm unsure, cause I stumble upon the three yellow ones and they all have visible sound objects.. Either have them all hidden or all visible? I found them better looking when they were not visible.

The King has a funny and good design, but I didn't like the rubys on the end of the queens dress. Also I would like to see her shake her arms a bit!

I got a bit stuck on the spiky walls section, also I think there should be a checkpoint before that, I found the way back down a bit long, and when you fail several times it gets really anoying.
OK, finally I made it through the spiky wall section, the hard part is where you are on the backlayer, jumping down to the middle layer, the space between the walls is a bit too short.
Oh great! I dided again, now when climbing up on the spiky walls, i hit one of the spikes while standing a bit on the side of the pillars/walls. And I respawn ALL the way back there. Seriously this place needs a checkpoint!

There, finally I got through the spiky stuff and I land on some dark matter - and I have to make my way down a long darkmatter slide... I'm guessing this is just a connection between the castle part and the part I'm entering now - that haven't been made properly yet.

Ok, so I'm at a beach? run some up and down. The sign says Thanks for playing! Part Two- blablabla...

Overall a great level, but it needs polishing in some parts!! (checkpoint! Arghh)

I had out a checkpoint there yesterday but I guess I forgot to publish the update. Thanks so much for the feedback. About the sound things, that was just a forgetful mistake of having a few visible/not. I appreciate it very much. And yes the dark matter is just to let guys like you play what I have built that is finished. I have other sections uncompleted to be in place of those dark matter bits but they are uncompleted and would just stop you from continuing. Thanks again.2010-02-07 21:15:00

This looks really good. The visuals look very minimalist and clean. If I remember next time I'm online I will give it a go.

Definitely looking forward to the series as a whole though.

Very cool level. A few things: The beginning checkpoint should be a double life or infinite in my opinion. The part with the ramps just before the spiked wall section has a part on the lowest ramp where you can jump down to the middle point in the next part, so you may want to fix that. Maybe change up the music in the area with the ghouls and all that to make it seem more dangerous and less cheery, I dunno. Overall it was a very fun level and I can't wait to see the fully finished version. 2010-02-09 01:50:00

Well this is pretty awesome! I like the style, not too showy but not too blank either. The obstacles are great, nothing too intense, and original scenery that is true to the Gardens. It's good how your platforms aren't just blocks of wood but different coloured ghoul thingies - adds a cool bit of colour. One thing I will say, though - the purple ghost in the slidey platform room is a tad annoying, he caught me out three times =]. And I think you should use a few more different types of sponge. And are you planning a boss? That would be quite cool, considering everything in the Gardens (or the Kingdom) is supposed to be cute and cuddly. Good start, we're waiting for the next instalment.2010-02-15 00:45:00

TESTING? Count me in. I'll be right on it!

EDIT: Ok I've played and it was a lot of fun. Things that I might change if I were you would be to make the motor bolts and music boxes invisible, change the basic sponge used throughout to something like zebra material, add some dynamic lighting and somehow make those turning hexagons with spikes obstacles easier or change to a different obstacle. It would be nice in the final version to actually sail into the beach on the boat through the water and have it say something amusing at the start. Oh, and stickers, it would look great if it were as colourful as part one.

By the way, what will part 3 be called?

Ok, I managed to find time to play the level. Sorry for not telling you I'd play it before.

-Really liked the style, reminded me of the Savannah but wasn't a total rip-off. (Number 1 had that too.)

-There's a bug on the part with the balls you use to move up to the area with the hexagons with spikes. If you roll the Key Dude (that's his name from now on.) To the top of the hill and jump on him, you can use it to hop into the area where the balls are being stored. I wanted to see what would happen if I kept going, so I got to the part with the meerkats covered in Dissolve, and since I didn't have the key I had to start over. There are many ways to fix this, but I'm sure you can come up with a creative and visually pleasing one.

-As Arctos13 said, I thought the hexagons with spikes were a bit hard. It took a while to get used to them, and was dying for about 10 minutes before I could complete them. People from the site probably won't quit because we all appreciate a bit of a challenge, but n00blets (yes I just said that.) would probably quit on that part.

Overall a very nice level, :star::star::star::star::star: and a <3. And it's not even finished yet!

Just played the beta. Fantastic level, loved the groundskeeper meerkat and how you used a mag key for a nose. The puzzles were great and I loved how it carried on even after the groundskeeper finished helping you. Loved how boaty was there at the start too

Improve:

1. Meerkat king. For a king it was a tad basic. You could probably make a "grander" design using less corners. Also, the subjects were a bit plain too(maybe make meerkat squires or something?). If you want, I could show you some stuff in create to give you some ideas

2. The "monkey was here" secret place. The chains with prize bubbles came down a bit slow, I thought nothing happened so I almost walked away from it, maybe speed them up? Also, maybe make the chains come down a bit lower, it was a tad hard to get some of the bubbles

3. The rotating hexagonal things with the red spikes. I liked these and they were a unique idea, but in this bit they were too hard to jump on to and it got frustrating because there were 4 in a row. What I'd do is move them closer to the ground so the spikes just about touch the ground, this'll make them easier to jump on to.

4. The area after you leave the groundskeeper

How much thermo do you have left? It'd be great if you could squeeze some more gameplay/puzzles in(not because it's too short, it's a great length, but cuz it's such a great level)

Alright I just played this, but I'm kinda in a hurry so I can't give you all the pros, but I'll give you the cons while they're fresh in my head.

-The beginning looked a little bland, mostly just the wood without any other decorations.
- I got stuck once and had to start the level over at the part where you had the sponge circles that carried you up through all the spikes. I thought I was supposed to leave the circle behind, so I jumped onto it and grabbed the sponge which took me up. After going through all the obstacles I realized I should have pushed it to the right, but I couldn't back to get it. I took a picture and uploaded it in case you don't understand. So either move the sponge higher to start or make sure they don't move until the switch is activated.
- I thought the spinning circles with the spikes were a little hard, which might get you in trouble if you want to get 20000 plays on this one like the first. I managed to get through okay, but I can tell it would be too hard for cool pages kids.
- I would've liked to see some more point combos, but that's kind of nitpicky.
- There was a grammar mistake in a speech bubble, but I can't remember it now.

Like I said, these are just the cons, I really enjoyed this one, even more than the first.

edit: ugh, I meant to edit this in my other post.

Thanks guys: I tried to fix a few things that you mentioned. Particularily the spinnig wheels. But realising I made them harder... Dangit. Gonna change that section quite a bit. I should be done tomorrow or the next.2010-03-16 22:12:00

Clarie and I were really enjoying this level until we got to the spiked rotating squares. At this point I got very annoyed and quit. Clarie stayed a bit longer, then saw more spikes below and thought hard about quitting. I think you need to make this section a lot easier OR take out maybe #2 and replace with a lifepoint.

Clarie eventually got through and we enjoyed the rest of the level. (until the final square spikey things)

Loved all the moving key stuff and some innovative gameplay as usual. Well done.

Played complete version. Amazing, twice as good as first!

Improve:

1. The background in the part with the see saw puzzle. I'd put strips of that orange autumn sponge stuff you used in the background(or the animal carving one) to liven it up a bit

2. Checkpoint on rotating hexagonal thing. It quite hard to activate without getting killed. I'd relocate the prize bubble, delete the hexagon thing and just glue checkpoint to thin layer behind and activate by sensor

Don't copy skulldozer. Been done to death. Btw, Wedding themed levels are quite good for coming up with ideas, the only coherent theme you really need is sorta graveyard, skeleton type stuff. Also it'd be cool if you experimented with the scenery more than other wedding style levels(maybe use the brown monster pack sponge for ground etc.) that usually just use that stone material.

I am excited as to how the collector fits in to all of this. I understand you haven't planned it out, but do you think you will be able to make a final boss in the tundra environment as grand as what Mm made? That would certainly put you down in the LBP history books.2010-03-21 03:07:00

Ok for anyone that's interested I'll be beginning testing for Part three soon. With part one that mainly focused on simple but unique gameplay, and part two on the escorting of the meerkat, this time the central mechanic is the use of lights. You will see pretty soon. Put your name down to let me know if you will be testing.
Thanks again:

I played the first one and it made me realize how many levels there are with silliness and humor and ridiculous character design. It kind of dissapoints me how EVERY level is almost like a joke, the story, the characters, all seem to be stupid and funny.

All and all I liked this level, though. Very fun.

How does this disappoint you? It's meant to be humorous, and I don't spend 40+ hours creating a joke. I just feel that a little humour adds a bit of warmth to the level.
I'm pretty sure the one I'm building now is the funniest so far.
