Battle on MarsJellyWeasel
Pilot a giant mech. Battle your way through an infestation of organic invaders. Contains mecha, platforming, paintinator, and a few bosses.
So pretty much the concept was that I wanted to try my hand at mechs. It ended up being pretty cool, and much like an old side-scrolling shooter.
EDIT: The mech problems are fixed.
I'm fairly confident that the rest of the level is fun.
In fact, the whole thing should be pretty fun and competitive in multiplayer.

Criticism is greatly appreciated, and I'll gladly play any of your levels.

Blowing stuff up is fun, but the mech got stuck. I couldn't get it to back up either.2010-02-09 05:04:00

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of.
You know what got you stuck and how early?

I knew one of the challenges was all the junk getting stuck in the wheels. so I built the bomb lever (the one on the left).
Perhaps I'll add some extra wheels in the back layer and republish?

OK, thanks.
I think I was going to play your level anyways.

I republished it and I don't think it will get stuck now.
I'm glad that I had to redo it, actually, since I found a problem after the last mecha boss.

Hey, thanks for your feedback on my CyberFox level, time to return the favour

The level started off very nicely, with really original scenery. The platforming was fun. Maybe you could add some scorre bubbles.

The mech started working very well, but then got stuck. I tried the extra bomb lever to blow up the caterpillar thing that was jamming the wheels but that didn't work. Then I saw you could jump down and hit their brains yourself. Unfortunately the gears were well and truly jammed. The thing is, the mech is pretty awesome and original but it isn't needed until right at the end when you blow up the hand, and it's a bit of a pain to get there.

What you could do is attach magnetic keys to the bombs so that when they hit the creature it triggers the creature's death and all the parts will definitely disappear. This would also mean that jumping down from the mech would be pointless as you can't kill the creatures on foot. If you want I can help you try this out - just send me a message.

Despite the gameplay issues the visuals were very cool. Just fix up that mech and this level will be awesome.

Hmm, I'll try that. The level is about to overheat. I guess I can get rid of the magic mouths that state the instructions, since they're obviously not getting the job done.
It said in there that you'd have to get out to kick enemies brains out. But I'll definitely try your suggestion, since I implemented the larva squashing out of convenience rather than functionality.

OK, so I took most of your suggestions.
Added bubbles in the early platforming parts. I also fixed up the mech so it's easier to stand on top of and less likely to get jammed.
Unfortunately, the larvae don't die when you hit them with the bombs, but they are made much easier to kill.
I put a reminder in the level that you need to step on their brains, which should prevent that problem.

:-P things go boom lol. I liked it though I got a bit confused on the mechs controls but its not too hard to figured out.

I seen no probs with the level from what I seen other then a switch being visable.

Cool, thanks.
I assume you beat the level then. Which makes me happy. I'll see if I can't make it less confusing, but that might be the last time I touch the level.
Is it always bad to have a switch visible? Was it a switch on the mech? I know I kept two sensor switches visible on it because it looked kind of barren without them.

I thought it was okay, I liked the scenery. I was at this ...hole in the glass and the glass itself prevented me from jumping on to one of the platforms, so I restarted and managed to get past that. The mech was nice, and big, maybe too big... because I thought it was slow like heck. I feel anything that doesn't move faster than a sack person is slow, but that's just me.

:star::star::star::star:

Suggestion for the lazer beam, make the bombs the same color and put a light of the same color on the bomb. It will look more realistic and stuff.
Very good level, not enough plays, I look forward to more.

P.S. most of my friends HATE reading, so think of some clever way to tell them they need to step on the monsters brains without the mouths. You don't have to but it helps the majority of the uneducated.

I completely agree, please do this but ALSO put magnetic keys on the wheels/legs so that when it goes near the enemy, it gives the illusion of crushing them. This can help with that jamming problem you got going.
Add a "Sound on Destruction" to the enemies so when they die they make a cool sound or somthing, somthing besides the "PEW!" death sound.

Sounds can make the enviroment come to life. Add some of those robot sounds from the Metal Gear Audio object to parts that move and shoot. I know you have some, but hey more wouldn't hurt right?

Finally... make the mech look pretty... it's kinda bland... it needs more stickers!!!

(places duck sticker all over it)
Now it's perfect <3

You have GOT to check out my multiplayer level Cutip Battle Arena.

It's wicked fun but it's a free for all death match so you need atleast another sack person with you to enjoy it to the fullest. It's hilarious with four people.

Sack people flying around on jetpacks attacking eachother with disgusting cutips. God how I love this game.

OK, I'll try those out. Mainly the aesthetic things, the speed, and the crack in the glass.
But the thermo's practically full.
I'm also reluctant to make it so the mech completely destroys the enemy upon running them over. Because then a legitimate strategy is having one person steer while the other stays at the top and fires the LaZ0r the whole time. I'll try to address these. I already have ideas.
