4 More Slots To A Pod

Archive: 25 posts

Have you ever been playing with a full pod and a friend wants to join? Have you got online, saw your best LBP friend online and wanted to join them, but all slots were full? Well, if Media Molecule adds 4 more slots to a pod, you most likely won't have this problem nearly as frequently any longer! You can have many more sackpeople in your pod with you this way, be it a rockin', all-out party full of friends, a calm adventure with strangers, or even a wild fight of enemies! If you wish to settle a fight between an LBP enemy with a huge army of best friends, go on ahead! Or if your dream is to have a wild race between a full 8 sackpeople, your dream will have come true! You could even have a wild 4-on-4 Team Bomb Survival battle (check out my level The Team Bomb Survival Arena to learn all about this crazily fun game and play it with friends)! Now, some of you may think that conversations, competitions, or even slap fights may get too wild with the possibility of 4 more sackpeople being included. But it's up to the host to decide what goes on in the pod-any annoyng, mean, or offensive sackpeople can be kicked from the game at their and only their choice. And as long as everyone behaves and doesn't hurt anyone's feelings, the party could be double-and most likely even triple-the fun for everyone! Just think-do you have any enemies in LBP? Lots of friends who would give anything to help you out and exercise their hands a bit? Then invite those friends and that enemy and settle your arguments the teamwork way. "Team" survivals and competitons get even more wild this way, and plus, you get to be with many more of your LBP friends and just hang out with a whole load more fun! Of course, things could get a bit more wild, but again, the host can control these things. Un-needed or simply un-wanted sackpeople can be kicked from the pod at any time, and if someone isn't enjoying themselves, they can leave. If the host wishes to have only a certain number of sacks, or certain sacks, they can invite only those they wish into their pod (or number), then not accept any other join requests. For most Happy Gadders, things would get a lot more fun, especially for the more social. Me and my best LBP friends, tc31wizard, SETHJJ, monky5001, and gotigers are all very familiar with each other, and often have disappointments when we are all online and want to play with each other, and someone always gets left out. They all agree with my request for 4 more slots to a pod with all their hearts because of these disappointments, and we all ask for MM to add this feature. It'd make a lot of sacks very happy...especially us!!! By the way, I'd like you to check out all of their levels-they're pretty good. Besides, they're my friends and I wish the best for them. 2010-02-06 05:15:00

It does sound like an appealling idea but I'm pretty sure that MM limited the number of players to 4 so as to control lag, with * players there would just be too much lag.
I could be wrong about this though.

I don't know, the people at MM are very intelligent and talented and I believe they could do it if they tried. After all, look at LBP already...however, you could be right. I'd love for those 4 slots to be added though.2010-02-06 08:50:00

As far as i know LBP is still working on a P2P system so the lag would be horrible for the host if not for everyone else aswell.

Also the checkpoints would need to be given more lives and stuff like that its just not reasonable.

Hmm.. that would create some interesting possibilities, but the multiplayer in lbp has alot of problems already, sadly. Lag is already a huge issue, and gets me disconnected from otehr players all the time. Not to mention the horrible camera... sometimes its hard to track 3 people, never mind 8 lol. Some levels are also incredibly hard to pass with multiple people, simply because of the way they are designed. Lastly, for creators, who have to proof their levels against breaking from 4 people already, would have a much more difficult time. MM's gotta fix these issues first before they even consider upping the player cap, in my opinion.

It's a neat idea though, don't get me wrong. it would offer amazing opportunities for cooperative challenges too. but your team would need to be really, really coordinated though.

Well, thanks for your opinion anyways. I still hope that this could happen someday, though...2010-02-15 16:13:00

Although it IS possible, I don't think they will do it because their servers aren't good enough for all these people. Sometimes when you turn off your second controller and let your friend in and you turn it back on, the second controller will be shown has the 5TH player in the pod, but it will not be allowed to come in.2010-02-15 17:29:00

This ain't gonna' happen. Due to MediaMolecule working on a P2P Server System, there would be a catastophic ammount of lag between players.

It would be nice if we could!

Maybe in lbp 2 if they made it, they could have 6 in the pod. But to encourage bullying is a no go.2010-02-16 11:33:00

HOPEFULLY NO. LittleBigPlanet doesn't need a sequel! If one is made, the community will be ****ed!

ok maybe that's going too far too fast. maybe 1 extra player first. that will give time for everyone to get used to it. but othere than that it's a good idea.2010-02-16 13:26:00

The smack-wars would be horrible! And trying to play a level would be pretty catastrophic anyway 2010-02-16 15:12:00

Sony probably not going to make a new console. Why would they need to when simple update is all that is needed if they want to improve the PS3? Exactly, they don't!

There would probrobly be alot of laging problems, if MM were really going to try to do this, they should go one step at a time, they should start with adding one more slot, see how it goes, then if they can keep going, add another slot, see how it goes... ect. But it is a good idea, and lbp would be better. maybe this is an idea MM should try.2010-02-17 19:49:00

Lag IS a horrible thing to consider with more players... Maybe, just maybe, six players would be do-able. And Jidget, smack-wars are controllable. It's not like everyone is always trying to fight or anything. You can always settle that by either kicking the main source or just leaving. Besides, isn't it worth it just to be able to play with more of your friends?2010-03-15 13:26:00

Thank you neku256, that's a good idea! That way they could see if it is possible, and if so, keep bringing it up. Of course, no matter if there's lag or not, you shouldn't be able to have 20 players in a pod. LOL That would be WAY too many sacks! But perhaps by seeing how more slots work, MM would be able to decide if more is possible and if so, how many can be added. However, if they do add more slots, whether it's 1 or 4, they should also allow players ab "Auto-Reject Invitations", which would work exactly like the "Auto-Reject Join Requests" but invitations. This would lower frustration to the game leader, because all the others' friends may be trying to join/invite them over and over, which would go to the host.2010-03-15 13:35:00

They made it four so that it controls the lag. I rather have 4 people with no lag than 8 people and have lag2010-03-16 01:57:00

How? An online connection can update certain ways your PS3 works, but it can't improve your PS3's actual hardware, size, memory, and cooling.

Lag would be unthinkable. Also, if MM made an update allowing more players, many levels would break. For instance, there are some platforms that would snap because the weight of so many players is too heavy.

Also, please stop bumping (commenting on old, old threads that have been fully discussed). This thread has lost popularity because most people are agreeing that it's not a very good idea for MM to make such a lagging and radical change.
