LBPC Mafia - Round 1 (rules/sign ups)

Hey guys! I played this on another forum, and I thought I'd bring this fun game to LBPC.

Basically, the rules are as follows-

To play, you need to sign up. To sign up, just comment here saying you want to play. After I get a decent amount of players, I will PM every one of you your special roles. You are NOT allowed to tell anyone your role . It's a secret between you and me. After I assign everyone their roles, I will then announce the start of the game.

There are two factions; the Mafia and Civilians. The game proceeds in turns.

Each night, while the civilians sleep, the dreaded mafia privately decides on which civilian to assassinate. They will do this through PM's. When they decide, they will PM me.

Each day, the terrified mob of civilians accuse people of being in the mafia and execute someone. Everyone- including the mafia, will have to vote on who to execute each day. The person with the most votes, dies. Civilians may NOT PM each other or anyone in the game. All discussion about the game should remain in this thread only.

If the civilians manage to kill off all of the mafia members, they win the game. But, if the mafia outnumbers the civilians, they lose and the mafia wins.

The game is largely about denouncing people as mafia members, and eloquently proclaiming your innocence. There's no real way to know who's in the mafia and who isn't. "Look at those shifty eyes! She's obviously in the mafia!" and "I've never trusted that guy," are both perfectly valid reasons to accuse someone. The sheer injustice of it all is part of the fun.

ROLES
Mafia Faction
Mafioso- Is a member of the mafia. Every night, all the members of the Mafia will come together and PM each other to decide which Civilian to kill.

Civilian Faction
Sheriff- Has the ability to detect the role of any player. Every night, the Sheriff will PM me about a particular player's role and I will tell them. However, since no one can reveal their roles, the Sheriff will have to convince everyone else of what they know through trust.
Cop- Same as the Sheriff, but instead of knowing particular roles, they will only have the ability to know whether a player is a mafioso or a civilian.
Serial Killer- A very powerful role. The Serial Killer may kill anyone during the night, but can only do this twice in the whole game. But, he/she can't kill two people in one night.
Doctor- Can protect one player from any night attacks. They will PM me each night of the player of their choice.
Extra Roles- There are some roles I will not put on this list. You'll have to find out during game play .
Civilians- All remaining players will be regular civilians with no additional abilities. They will vote each day, but that's about it.

I want at least 20 or so players. 1/4 of them will be the mafia, and the rest will be civilians.

TURNS
The game is supposed to start at night, but I want all platers to at least have one chance to play, so we'll start during the day. (Keep in mind, Day and Night have nothing to do with day and night in real life. It's just the name of a turn.) During the day, all players will vote on who to kill; even the mafia members. After all the votes come in, I will provide a short narrative of the death (I suck at story telling XD), and then night starts.

During the night, no one is permitted to post about anything game-related. All game-related discussion should take place during the day. After I receive all of the PM's from the Mafia and the special civilian roles, I will provide another short narrative of what took place at night, and then the day starts once again. As I said earlier, this keeps going until all of the Mafia are dead, or when the Mafia outnumber the Civilians.

Reminders- Please do not reveal your role to anyone else, or discuss the game anywhere else. I want to avoid cheating. The Mafia may PM other Mafia members whenever they wish, but Civilians cannot. Also, remember: No game-related posts during a night time turn.

I've played this before on another forums. It was bit different, with two warring Mafia factions and one civilian faction in the crossfire, as well as various roles for mafia members, and allowance of secret alliances and intercommunication (you could take the risk of telling someone your role through PMs, but it's a double edged sword; they don't have to necessarily tell you the truth of whom they are).

I'm just trying to make someone confess something that might help figure out Mafia from Civilian. Vote me off if you like, but I was just trying to find a hint, a confession, or maybe just a weakness. For example, Astrosimi seems to accuse anyone when under pressure. Astro says almost anything to rid the accusation. So all I have to do is accuse Astro, then check to see if Astro accidentally mentions something important. Other than that, I'm just a player.

In a town of corruption, violence, and bad 70's music, there was "The Mafia". Civilians were scared out of their minds, and thus, we find the mayor of the town known as Rajah deploy the only solution George Bush used against Iraq: kill the people. So every night, the towns folk decide who's a criminal, who's a traitor, or just plain annoying, and kill them with their B.U.N.S.. So now the town has started to vote on their victim.. but who will it be?

*Dramatic music, then we fast foward a few hours to see the towns people still discussing the matter.*

12 Hours Later...

lbpholic was wondering the field, when Rajah spotted him from the distance. "Hey you! What are you doing here!?" said the mayor. The traveler did not reply. Feeling scared of this traveler knowing to much, he ordered the towns people to catch the traveler, force lbpholic to become a resident, and begin voting, lbpholic with them. Now our tale begins...

Civilian Faction
Sheriff- Has the ability to detect the role of any player. Every night, the Sheriff will PM me about a particular player's role and I will tell them. However, since no one can reveal their roles, the Sheriff will have to convince everyone else of what they know through trust.
Cop- Same as the Sheriff, but instead of knowing particular roles, they will only have the ability to know whether a player is a mafioso or a civilian.
Serial Killer- A very powerful role. The Serial Killer may kill anyone during the night, but can only do this twice in the whole game. But, he/she can't kill two people in one night.
Doctor- Can protect one player from any night attacks. They will PM me each night of the player of their choice.
Extra Roles- There are some roles I will not put on this list. You'll have to find out during game play .
Civilians- All remaining players will be regular civilians with no additional abilities. They will vote each day, but that's about it.

Civilian Rseah Killed In Suspected Mafia Bombing

Last night, everyone in the area was awoken by the thunderous explosion of TNT which killed civilian rseah, his wife, his 11 children, and destroyed his Mansion with an estimated worth of 500 million dollars. Crime scene investigators flocked to the scene, and claim they've found conclusive evidence of the mafia's involvement. Channel 7 news has also had the opportunity of interviewing the local Sheriff, who claims to know the identity of one of the dreaded mafioso involved in the bombing. Today, investigators have concluded that Astrosimi was in fact innocent, and as a result, some citizens around town have been sending his family gifts and letters of apology. Activists in the area are already using this tragedy as an example to ban executions, but their pleas are mostly ignored.

Doctor Runs 30 Miles In Thunderstorm To Aid Rocksauron

Last night, a Doctor ran 30 miles in a Thunderstorm to aid Rocksauron after his car stalled in a large puddle. The Doctor feared an attack against Rocksauron was imminent, but when he arrived at Rocksauron's home, Rocksauron was nowhere to be found. So, the Doctor took shelter on his front porch to protect himself from the storm.

But on the serious bases, I'm going to have to debunk some "theories". So before I get assassinated with a catchy rhyme, let me clarify things. Uh humm...

First of all, rseah might have voted for me, but KernelM was the first to go after me, so it only makes sense that I should have gone for Kernel IF I was a Mafosio. Second, Astrosimi died because RockSauron started the bandwagon to kill Astro (which was a bit prejudice, mainly because Rock just didn't like hippies). Finally, I recall myself quite defensive of everybody, not just specific people, so I couldn't have had a thing out for rseah. So with all due respect, I have no reason to be a mobster. Vote for me if you like, but the result will be a waste of a turn.

So my vote. I say it has to go to trip090. Why? Well:

1. trip's really quiet. Too quiet.
2. Not really fun or helpful if trip's not active on here, so really eliminating trip will probably change nothing.

Oh, so my long speech is a wrong doing? I see no fingers being pointed to Congressmen. I only made it long because of all the "theories" going around. And as for commas, I don't believe it has anything to do with the Mafiosos. If it did, only you would know. But as for right now, I still say trip090, because I don't think you've been showing signs of Mafioso... but I'm watching.
