Suggestion - Changing Thread Title [FIXED!] TEST

Archive: 13 posts

Hiya,

It would be nice if the original poster (in addition to moderators) could change the title of a thread so that the new name would appear in the forum thread list. Currently, if you change the title of the first post, all it does is change the title name you see when you click on the thread. The thread name in the main forum view doesn't change at all.

Dunno if I made any sense, but in the Beta Level Sharing forums, I would've liked to change the Coaster Toaster thread title to "Coaster Toaster (Video Included)"

I think being of Elite status allows you to edit that.2008-09-28 22:30:00

Try something, Linque, tell me if it works. Go here (http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=19), find the title of this thread, and double click in the cell that the thread title is contained in(not the actual link, but the colored box that contains the thread title and the OP name). Does it allow you to edit the title?2008-09-28 22:48:00

Nope, the cell isn't interactive to me at all.2008-09-28 22:51:00

Alright, then it's just staff. I don't know of any way to set this. I've looked into it, but I haven't found anything in the way of changing this. I'll look through the usergroup permissions, see if it's in there.

Some vBulletin forums have this feature working, at least I think they do, so it should be possible. Don't know how to enable it, though.2008-09-28 22:56:00

Nope. As you can see if you look at my OP in this view (showthread.php), it reads [FIXED!] now, but the forumdisplay still shows the old one.

I got to go sleep, so can't assist in testing anymore, sorry.

Alright, all should be right with the world. I tried using an "infinite" setting for the time limit for editing titles, but it didn't work. Instead, I just put down a very long time limit, which accomplishes the same thing.2008-09-28 23:04:00

I thought maybe I posted my thread about this and didn't see yours when I posted Linque because it never got a response. But glad to see that it got fixed. I tried it myself and it works now! Thanks Cartman for fixing this.

Hah, yeah. There was a time limit for this before, helped me a out a bit when a screwed up a title.
It's actually a lot better now, as long as members don't abuse it -_-
