Archive: 52 posts
Hello everyone Im here to show anotehr glitch i discover I named it 'Mirror Material' or 'Mirror Glitch' How to make it: Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TY3VUP0eGIE 1 - First, select any material (recommended any material like Glass, Dark Matter, Taxi Metal or any other with reflections for better results) (In this case im using Glass) 2 - Place it in a really small size http://img689.imageshack.us/img689/9233/umafoto26.jpg 3 - Make it BIGEST as possible http://img704.imageshack.us/img704/5452/umafoto25.jpg 4 - Cut a small part of the huge thing http://img402.imageshack.us/img402/123/umafoto24.jpg 5 - Delete the huge thing http://img684.imageshack.us/img684/8189/umafoto21.jpg 6 - Make the small thing HUGE http://img246.imageshack.us/img246/1764/umafoto23.jpg 7 - Keep repeating step 4, 5 and 6 and presto! There is you clear material http://img4.imageshack.us/img4/2048/umafoto22.jpg Notes: You CAN change the material with the Material Changer tool and you still have a clear material If you make it with the Tin Foil material you get a mirror! Dont repeat step 4, 5 and 6 if you already got a clar material, or you will get a Shaking crazy material | 2010-02-03 17:49:00 Author: ViniciusBR11 Posts: 546 |

The 'old glass' from POTC makes a great mirror when used with this glitch. | 2010-02-04 00:40:00 Author: Deviantgeek Posts: 386 |

Dont repeat step 4, 5 and 6 if you already got a clar material, or you will get a Shaking crazy material What happens if you go beyond that? | 2010-02-04 04:38:00 Author: warlord_evil Posts: 4193 |
What happens if you go beyond that? It goes crazy! Texture will slide from material and go crazy. You cannot cut/corner edit/move it rightly. ***WARNING*** This can freeze your console/game! | 2010-02-04 06:06:00 Author: waD_Delma Posts: 282 |

I tried this last night and I think the best thing is the different relfections you get, ranging from what looks like windows of buildings, to the ruins of a temple (or something) to icy mountains. | 2010-02-04 20:42:00 Author: cthulhu82 Posts: 211 |
Hey Vinicius, excellent tutorial, congratulations on your discovery! I would like to add something to the tutorial: While testing the reflective materials, I noticed they might start "moving" and (or) shaking after being resized or having their material changed. If they are made of dark matter they always stay still. Attaching dark matter to the material seems to fix the problem. | 2010-02-04 21:12:00 Author: AlvaroShiokawa Posts: 126 |
Aww this is awesome! I've always wanted a mirror in LBP! | 2010-02-04 21:16:00 Author: Leather-Monkey Posts: 2266 |
**** you (http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/../member.php?6295-AlvaroShiokawa)AlvaroShiokawa! that's what i was gonna say But yeah if you do this too much it will start too shake and it is so awesome!!! Make it sponge, then grab it and it starts flying everywhere all over the level! Also dark matter looks really cool like this | 2010-02-04 21:24:00 Author: Doopz Posts: 5592 |
**** you (http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/../member.php?6295-AlvaroShiokawa)AlvaroShiokawa! that's what i was gonna say Likewise Doopz479, better luck next time. But yeah if you do this too much it will start too shake and it is so awesome!!! Make it sponge, then grab it and it starts flying everywhere all over the level! Also dark matter looks really cool like this Nice of you on finding out about this sponge detail, I will try it later. Also, did you notice that some reflective materials' surface gets shaky (I said some because I didn't test all materials) when you zoom, even if the object is not moving alone? The effect reminds of the air around a flame, all wavy and shaky. | 2010-02-04 22:08:00 Author: AlvaroShiokawa Posts: 126 |
I noticed that the reflection depends on the material - materials from metropolis have windows, the basic glass has the same reflection of the space helmet, etc. | 2010-02-05 01:10:00 Author: Shadowheaven Posts: 378 |

Also dark matter looks really cool like this Does the texture of the object move? Or does the object itself move? | 2010-02-05 01:34:00 Author: warlord_evil Posts: 4193 |
I noticed that the reflection depends on the material - materials from metropolis have windows, the basic glass has the same reflection of the space helmet, etc. Good observation noticing that the glass material and space helmet share the same reflection. And yes the reflections on the materials vary indeed, unfortunately never showing the actual reflection of the backgrounds (Canyons, Wedding, Pirates of Caribbean, etc) or what is built inside our level. Does the texture of the object move? Or does the object itself move? The object itself moves to the left or to the right, as if it is sliding on the floor, being pushed or pulled by an invisible force. What I saw of "moving" textures would be the thing I mentioned above about the "Air closer to a flame" thing, which makes the texture of the object kinda shaky, when we zoom from what I noticed. | 2010-02-05 03:06:00 Author: AlvaroShiokawa Posts: 126 |
Woah! Amazing find ! What happens if you put some of the material into the extra layers? :O | 2010-02-05 21:50:00 Author: theamilien Posts: 485 |
Woah! Amazing find ! What happens if you put some of the material into the extra layers? :O Well, we can apply the mirror effect to the layer glitch, and so far I noticed it has the same effects described above (The shaky texture and moving object). Also, if the 3d layer object is made of dark matter it will remain still. If you attach dark matter to a 3d layer object made of other material it will stay still . | 2010-02-05 22:44:00 Author: AlvaroShiokawa Posts: 126 |

When somebody says that a glitch can freeze the game, I have to try it out. Kinda dumb, but funny. Well, yeah it does, in fact, freeze the game quite predictably lol Edit: also, if you can manage to distort it enough, I found that eventually the texture will appear completely off of the object, and the (now invisible) object will physically still be there. If you stand on it, your legs will go all goofy and stretched and above your head, even though you are not moving around. | 2010-02-09 02:05:00 Author: Hibbsi Posts: 203 |
The old glass material from the POTC pack gives a really cool effect. If you make the floor and all walls from it, you cant see any surfaces. | 2010-02-14 03:20:00 Author: Frogmeister Posts: 236 |
Wow I'll have to try this. Just one question, what on earth were you doing to figure this out? | 2010-02-18 06:20:00 Author: SR20DETDOG Posts: 2431 |
Cool ill have to try this O_O it be great for my level im makeing ^^ | 2010-02-24 00:20:00 Author: Delirium Posts: 349 |
I discovered two glitches that branch off of this one. 1: Anything stickered onto mirror material is like stickering blue wood. So now we can basically sticker any material and the stickers will hardly be blurry. 2: I found some weird trick in which I can get the material to move while corner editing in pause mode. The material can move through level bounderies and objects such as scoreboards. | 2010-02-24 01:51:00 Author: warlord_evil Posts: 4193 |
Even better than blue wood: this stuff isn't beveled IIRC, so as far as I know this is the only way to get clean edges. | 2010-02-24 11:40:00 Author: Rogar Posts: 2284 |
Really nice guide, didn't know of this trick. Thanks a lot. | 2010-03-28 10:28:00 Author: Chamion B Posts: 124 |
ZOMG i just found an amazing glitch to go with this! (unless it's been mentioned already) : I turned a piece of glitched, electric dark matter into a circle and saved the object, and then set an emitter to emit it and by accident I found that you can emit several glitched object onto the same spot, making the electricity intensify and get ALOT brighter. lolz so pretty 0_0 EDIT: I don't think I mentioned that you can increase the brightness gradually, creating a portal effect (I am now inspired and making a level around it) NO COPYING! | 2010-04-01 15:48:00 Author: Keanster96 Posts: 1436 |
ZOMG i just found an amazing glitch to go with this! (unless it's been mentioned already) I think this is fairly common knowledge. I've certainly seen this before, although I was using dark matter cow-glitched to look like rusty metal. | 2010-04-01 16:07:00 Author: Aya042 Posts: 2870 |
That's a really cool trick, thanks! http://i.neoseeker.com/mgv/272671-Blackfalcon/671/5/animal0064hb2_display.gif | 2010-04-01 17:33:00 Author: Blackfalcon Posts: 409 |
I think this is fairly common knowledge. I've certainly seen this before, although I was using dark matter cow-glitched to look like rusty metal. Aww! I'm still gunna make the level tho. You just find everything though - you're like some kind of glitch finding Guru! (I mean that in a good way ) | 2010-04-02 15:47:00 Author: Keanster96 Posts: 1436 |

I tried white glass but it didn't seem to work for me. Perhaps I wasn't going big enough maybe? :/ Does anyone give this away in a level? Thanks. | 2010-08-17 23:27:00 Author: midnight_heist Posts: 2513 |
Cool, I remember this being in a level, a guy called it Z-Matter | 2010-08-17 23:40:00 Author: Unknown User |
I'm having a ball with the shakey material! I over expanded some dissolve, the chopped it into little peaces, and put seaweed on them! now I have a bunch of squid-critters swimming around. this is crazy! I'm thinking Faux Random generators! | 2010-08-18 05:43:00 Author: swanbrown Posts: 898 |
ViniciusBR11 thanks so much for finding this glitch.. I love what it does to your stickers by making it less fuzzy and by taking away the beveled edge. very cool find | 2010-08-20 07:14:00 Author: pete007d Posts: 58 |
this is coool and its a short tutorial : D tyvm for the info | 2010-08-21 04:07:00 Author: Unknown User |
One thing I found out is that you cannot smear a mirror. I don't know why. | 2010-08-21 05:22:00 Author: Super_Dork_42 Posts: 1874 |
a couple of things i noticed was that if you try using the corner editing tool the cursor will force itself out of the levels boundaries implying that the shape is ALOT larger than it appears to be but you can still glue and place as you would with any other material also it works very well with the glitch of putting a sticker on a object and setting fire to it and then passing glass infront of it will reveal the sticker | 2010-08-21 11:52:00 Author: Unknown User |
Try putting a big black sticker on a mirror material, it should turn into a perfect mirror, with every single material. (Many materials have just a black reflection, though.) To get credits for me, I must say that I found this 3 months ago, and I've been working on a level based on it for 3 months. I've already found about 11 different materials all with a different reflection, I'm not sure if there are more, 'cause I don't have Valentine's Kit. Yeah.. So put a black sticker on a glitched ''mirror'' material. | 2010-08-21 15:21:00 Author: Saku401 Posts: 83 |

Dang, I though I discovered this the other day. Everybody beats me to it!!! I did discover a glitch involving this though: I call it the "Steve" Glitch. (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=37529-ANIMATED!!!!-WITH-PICTURES-Brand-new-glitch-(i-think!!!)-The-Steve-Glitch&p=650139#post650139) Not sure why. | 2010-10-10 20:08:00 Author: .jamo Posts: 172 |
