google doesnt work ALL the time, if you ask "what is the Cat's Eye Nebula?" it will probably introduce you to a pretty interesting site about countries where people eat cats' eyeballs or a new vaccum cleaner and i find it not worth going through useless products and things that would give you nightmares, okay mr.google? who would you ask a question,Albert Einstein or a machine that entertains weirdos in nasty, perverted and dumb ways? i rest my case to the person whos trying to close my important thread. Any important questions?2010-02-01 08:20:00

You'd be hard pressed to find a question that you can't find the answer too on the internet with enough specification.
Or shock horror you could just ask your teacher for help, that's what they're there for :/

I just have something against these "do my homework for me" threads, it basically tells me that people are so lazy they even need someone to search it for them now.

You actually think i get information from the internet? you dont think people are smart enough to actually remember what they learned in school? its homework HELPER not do your homework for you-er i became a scientist to discover more things and to help people. this is exactly what im doing and youre comparing pure knowledge to a machine. Just let it be, when i had teachers most of them sucked and barely knew anything about the subject they were teaching, this is for those people who were like me, not an easy A. A teacher is not going to answer a question if its for homework, i wish this was a perfect world. if it was, teachers would give HINTS but no, there are no hints with so called "teachers". the only "teachers" in life are your friends, your family, and books. I just want to be a friend and a teacher without having it as a job, for that "profession" is entirely below me2010-02-01 09:35:00

You had crap teachers then. My teachers were very good. My lessons were very good. We had no idiots messing the classes up. Just because your school is dodgy doesn't mean everyone else's school is.

Then again, guess that is why my school was ?10,000 a year, or something like that... Anyways, as Dex has said, it can be found on the internet, so this thread is pointless.

Ever hear of a "Tutor?" That's basically what this thread is offering. I think it's a great idea and it's naive to think otherwise. I also think it's disrespectful to go to someone's thread and say, "hey, your thread is pointless."

This is part of the internet, isn't it?
Sometimes asking someone who actually knows something and can respond to questions is a lot more useful than finding and reading answers on wikipedia and other sources.

Hey, this thread is pointless. If you are seriously struggling, then ask your teacher at break or something. They are going to give you far more help in person than someone on the internet will, especially as we don't even have any proof as to whether 'HydraulicWaRiOr' (who, in his username alone clearly shows his amazing grasp of the English language, and where capitals are placed within words) has any idea about what he claims he will help with. I would rather ask someone i know will get it right, rather than risk getting something completely different to what i should be getting. All you will be giving on here is formula's etc. I find it highly improbable that you will conduct full conversations with every person who uses this thread, instructing them through each and every nuance of a formula, as a teacher/tutor would do.

Wow stop the arguing! Next person to argue loses some rep! If you don't like the idea of this thread don't use it and just ignore it. If you want help with homework and you want to get help here then fine do it. Alright?2010-02-01 18:32:00

Hey! This site is about community help and involvement! If someone wants to offer "help", not answers, then they should be free to do as they please. I admire this threads author because he has offered some genuine help to others. Its not a matter of if how you percieve what his motives were for creating it, and those who would go to this thread for help would be doing it for some amount of good reason. Though many people would point out that a teacher or tutor would help, its not a tragedy that people look in others areas for help also. Arguing about whether or not this thread is pointless is pointless. If people don't like it, don't bother with it. All that matters is how much the person gets help, and a person's username does not have to be grammatically correct. I look forward to what comes out of this thread.Peace.2010-02-01 18:38:00

Ok, so you're assuming he's going to be wrong. Which is an insult. Stepping forward and promoting online resources over someone who is willing to take time out of their day to personally help others with homework doesn't show very good character. Sure, the internet can be helpful. But nothing beats personal face-to-face help with another person. So please, lay off ok? No one wants to see a flame war here.

I'm not against tutors helping with homework; I don't mean to profile though but the OP seemed like the kind of guy that was looking for people to do homework for him and i've seen that all too many times before. Well... a username that murders the english language (no offence) and negative rep :/

If this thread's going to work you might want to get a mod to delete it so you can start fresh, and just hope noone else starts a similar rant

My point exactly. Get that, instead of an anonymous person on the internet, who may be making a point go making you get everything wrong, so they can have a laugh.

I didn't promote online resources, i said if you really want help, DO NOT use online resources. That's what your teachers are for, and if they refuse to help you, they aren't doing their job, or you go to a crap school.

Ok we all get it, you went to an amazing posh private school and therefore you are superior to all of us.

Well, I know several members on this site who are currently studying for particularly challenging degrees at very good universities and many more who are currently working having already obtained their degrees. I've already had help before from this site with some maths problems- yes I didn't go to a particularly good school so I decided to ask here- and guess what... the help I got from this site actually managed to help me finish all the questions.

And that's one of the reasons why I'm against reputation on websites.

Enough knocking the thread's purpose. If you disagree with it, judge it personally and leave it alone. No sense in coming in just to stir up the mud... One more source for help doesn't become pointless just because another source exists. To argue that is to completely miss the point.2010-02-01 23:26:00

Well, I guess that's why they pay you

Honestly, I think this isn't such a bad idea. The execution could be worked on, but honestly I don't see what the big deal is. I could help out if anyone wants. I'm good at science, especially.

so, in short, I know enough about music concerning the baroque, classical, and romantic eras (read: pre-rock, so anything concerning symphonies to operas, etc)...

Dibs on anything math related. I can do just about anything at the undergraduate level, but I won't probably be able to recall specific formulas. I can, however, interpret a given formula for you, or explain concepts that may be confusing. If I am not able to do it justice, I will point you in the right direction.

In case you don't want to be a bother, yet you have a math problem, don't use wikipedia. It's terrible for math stuff. Instead, use Wolfram Mathworld:

Wolfram Mathworld (http://mathworld.wolfram.com/)

Well, my main forte is taken (Why science ), but they know me as a relatively strict Grammar Nazi, so I guess I'll take English.

Or I could be assistant Science Director. That would make my day as well

Requests granted, Comphermc is now in charge of Mathematics and Astrosimi is my assistant in the Science division. He will take care of anyone with questions related to Health Science or Earth Science, but any questions asked in certain parts of Health science must be asked privately, we don't want the young ones to learn about the miracle of life if you understand what im talking about.(if you feel like requesting a certain section of Science, feel free to do so as to change, i understand that it might be difficult with Health science since youre talking about certain parts of the Human Body)2010-02-03 07:04:00

Hey guys and gals,
Seems like a great service your running here, even if it did start off a bit bumpy.
Anyway I'm just posting to let you all know that it's great idea and that I may be using it in the near future. I'm currently doing Maths B which is the second hardest maths at my school, right now i'm just revising logs and indicies but I think were going to be doing some calculus as well plus a bunch of other stuff.
