Space Escape II - spotlighted!!jwwphotos
http://www.jwwwebdesign.com/photos/LBP/SpaceEscapeII/SpaceEscapeII_Logo.pngStill stuck on an alien space ship, you wander the craft in hopes of finding a means for escape, but survival continues to be a problem. Part II of the Space Escape series!
** Includes Secret Space Escape Mini Game bonus rooom **
At long last, I have published my 2nd level of the Space Escape series!! A not so serious sci-fi adventure, with quite a few secrets, varied platforming, intense paintball fun, as well as some comical enemies. Tricky, but not horribly hard for 1 - 4 players. Also includes as one of the secrets a fun little mini game to boost your points!

Thanks to all my beta testers who are too numerous to mention, but a special thanks to Morgana25 for dragging me back into create mode to finally finish this thing after I got somewhat burnt out during the OC and Water betas!! Her many visits that produced many oooOOo's and aaaaahhh's told me I must be doing something right! Thanks Morgana!! I also want to thank my amazing and wonderful girlfriend TheCountessZ for putting up with me and the constant "Hey.. check this out!" or "How's this look?"

Here are some pics!

Woot, it is finally published!!

Your hard work for several months of on and off work payed off, the level is all kinds of awesome.
I'll need to play it again since I know you made some final tweaks and I'll be back with my "review".

It's an awesome level, that's for sure!!

Edit: nice pics, btw

Excellent level here again!
I was impressed once more by your sci-fi style of art. While it's a over-used theme, your level is feeling fresh. I love the little puzzlish part and the humor throughout the level. It's just as every bit as good as the first one. I have no particuliar con outside the triangles part wich is not my style of gameplay.
Your secrets are well done and the mini-game is really cool! I hope people discovers it. I'll have to play again.

To make a long story short this is clearly spotlight material here.

Wow! Thanks so much guys! Glad you enjoyed!

Yeah.. the triangles are tricky, but I sorta like them for some wacky reason. I was actually going to have them as an entire room and find your way out, with a few dead ends etc, but I figured you would really REALLY hate them! LOL!

Thanks again!

I've seen this thing from infancy to publish and it just kept getting better. I can't say enough good things about it or your craftsmanlike approach to building it. If glitches, technical problems and a host of other strange occurances couldn't beat you down on this thing I doubt anything can. Congratulations on getting it done and making another fantastic level. It was my pleasure to ohhhh and ahhhh for you 2010-01-31 23:52:00

Those pictures look great! And about time you published this, for #3(if you make it) don't keep us wait this long.

It'll be the first level I play tonight.

Hi jww.

Where to start...how about Awesome! Great ship design, puzzles, and secret areas (how I do love the secret areas...very appealing to my adventurous nature).

And my paintinator skills really paid off in the minigame (THANKS for the opportunity to awe my daughter).

I liked your upgraded sentries, but despised the pesky moppers...my nightmare part of this recurring dream.

Regarding our conversation the other night, I decided to wait to repub Takken, since you and AJ have just published...that way there won't be 3 space adventures trying to hit Cool Pages at the same time. Although, the bomb survival levels seem to have no issues doing it, but they're all destined to be 5 stars...we have to literally bleed to get 3....the pain...the pain.

So, accept my latest PSN friend request so I can invite you to see what I've done to spruce up Takken.

You've got a good start on your rating, and I wish you and AJ the Very Best run at Cool Pages.

Oooooh from me too! Looks very good

Judging by the pictures, I admire the design of the level. I like the askew angles and the plane-layering. Also the amount of detail appears top-notch!

Looks great Jww!

Thanks Morgana! It is so wonderful to finally be able to publish this, especially considering the mini game was done like back in July or August!! lol! Thanks again!

Cool! Can't wait to hear your opinion! ...yeah, this one did take a horribly long time. I wish I kept track of actual design hours, but maybe I am happy I didn't as it would be staggering!! My involvement with the Beta kept me away for much too long, but I learned so much during the OC stuff that it was time well spent!

So sorry Mr V!!! Yeah.. I should have invited you over during that last message you sent. So very sorry!! I hope you get a replacement asap!!

Thanks Rick! Appreciate your kind words. LOL!! Mop bucket dreams! Yikes! Sorry about that!

I tossed quite a bit at it and still have like 2 rooms and a boss left over... So not a bad start for the next one!

..and I already accepted! If you don't see me join, don't worry as I leave my PS3 on quite a bit with me standing in the pod while flipped over to cable tv.

Thanks again!

Ok how about WOW!

Dude just played this and I have to say very impressive! I had a chuckle at our similar use of materials. I love your details. Your control panels are great! Much better than the ones have IMO
Your puzzle elements were very cool and to me creative and new. the lighting was well suited. I see now why Ranger Zero compared us...style wise we are different but our approach is similar

I really had fun figuring out what I needed to do and to me if you have that (no matter the rest) then your level is a success!

Great fun

Man, this level is SO much fun - fantastic detailed environment, really creative layering - I also loved the moving triangles section. I already had given you my input the other night, and I really didn't see any other flaws. Paintinator section was tough but fair - and GREAT slide to the finish!

5 stars and a heart!

Great comments I liked the Wow! Yeah... I would say we do in a way. ..at least in this one I did more of a puzzling platformer which I liked for being "stuck in the rafters" which is where this adventure mostly takes place. Thanks so much and glad you enjoyed! I will check yours out probably tomorrow and leave you some feedback as well.

Thanks CCubbage! Really glad you enjoyed. I figure if I impress you then I am somewhere in the ballpark. Really means a bunch! Fun is one of the key elements I was really striving for and really happy you felt it was. The paintenator section is pretty tough, but doable if you concentrate on one layer at a time. I thought about toning it down a bit, but fell in love with the shot patterns. I thought it would be fun to be injected into the gun turret rather than having one just simply shooting at you. ...so I did! LOL!

Thanks again!

This level is fantastic! I think it has improved on the previous version (which I also loved) in just about every way. The layout of the level is much more detailed with the player crisscrossing all over the place and flipping switches. Visuals and lighting are spot on also. I like when levels get progressively more difficult as you get through the level. Saying that it wasn't too difficult. Great balance. Nice work JWW!
5 of the best and a heart for you my friend.

Yippie! I made Wex smile!

Thanks so much Wex... really means a lot. To tell you the truth, the whole time I was detailing the level I had pics from GBS 3 and Star Cruiser mounted on a huge board up above the level for inspiration as well as a measuring stick to insure I had quite a bit of detail. No copying at all of course, but sort of a measurement of 'fiddly bit per square inch' sort of thing!! I guess you will need to do the metric conversion for that!

Thanks Wex!! This really made my day!!

haha, when I was making GBS 3 I also had pics from star cruiser around the place for inspiration. Its great for little ideas for how to detail your level. You level defenitely took these good ideas and expanded on them to create your own unique level. Enjoyable from begining to end

This level is awesome!!
The detail of the spacecraft is impressive!!
really like being on a ship alien and the atmosphere is excellent!!
There are things truly original and unique!!
Together with the levels with horror and Egyptian settings, including those of science fiction, if well designed like this are part of the levels I love most!
I could not finish it because I lost my ps3 connection, but tonight I will play it again until the end and definitely leave you a heart and 5 stars.
I would appreciate if you tried my levels "Quetzcoatl rebirth" And "Little big adventure in the world of the pumpkins", I think you will like it!

Thanks fijski! Glad you liked it! Really appreciate your comments! I know you have been excited to see this one and happy I finally got it done and published!

Truth be told I was hoping to wrap it up with this one, but I thought up too many crazy things for the trip through the rafters so to speak! So after a bit of depression, I said oh well and decided to make this one tons of fun and tease you with a bit more story line to help bring it together. The good news is I already have like 2 more rooms and most of the boss done and if I am lucky I will get it all in #3, if not... then hopefully everyone else IS lucky and we continue to a #4 !!! LOL!!!

Thanks again!

just this moment finished playing it and I think everybody has just about summed it up. Great visuals, nice puzzles, fun paintinator fight, intensely frustrating (but enjoyable) triangle jumping area and simply an all round great level.

5 stars and hearted

the only minor gripe I had was with the slide at the end. Those flashing lights irritated my eyes and in fact I can still feel the effects now

Thanks so much!! Sorry about your eyesight! It was mostly to cover up my lack of thermo for the exit! I had to start spreading out some detail and it was a bit sparse in that area from what I had originally planned. I figured the lights might help raise the excitement from being suddenly dropped as well as have folks not worry so much about the lack of detail in that section.

I will check out your level asap! Thanks again!

I just played it, i gave you a feedback when I played it over the weekend, so there's little to really add here.

It had great design and detail, like other people have mentioned the control panels look awesome and the layering is top notch. Theres some really nice platforming in there to. The enemies and premise is really inspired, its a a great settting and idea, and you really get the most out of it. I'm looking forward to part 3, just try and do it a little quicker this time

Thanks Grant! Means a lot! I've learned so much playing your levels that in a sense, the floor buffer area was sorta my tribute to your wacky backtracking and puzzles.

I am hoping to make #3 a bit sooner for sure.. The good news is which was the bad news for me is there is still 2 more rooms and a boss I have left over due to not fitting!! So once again, I will have to come up with some filler. Seemed to come up with a bit too much filler for #2. So ya never know, we might end up with #4 or #5 before it is all said and done!! LOL!!

Thanks again and really appreciate your insight during my Beta.

Played it yesterday, and as everybody said, it's a great and enjoyable level!

I loved the detailled visuals, the smart mechanisms and gameplay elements, and the humor!
I didn't encoutered any problem, the level runs smoothly, and the difficulty is well balanced!

I'm not into scifi levels usually, but I really enjoyed this one!

Great work!

Thanks Daj! Really appreciate your kind words. I remember you as not much of a sci fi fan, although a do remember a certain robot that you did not that long ago... Hmmmmmm... lol !! Just teasing!

In all seriousness, it just feels so good hearing such nice things about my level from my peers here at LBPC. That was a ton of work and smiled pretty much constantly the entire time I was doing it.

Thanks again!

Oh.. and anyone that hasn't found the mini game really should try.. it is quite addictive! I will offer hints to find it if asked nicely!

Haha...true! But it was more the retro and toyish side of the project that I prefered

That doesn't mean I hate sci fi, it's just that it's not my favorite theme...
but some levels, like yours, have a certain "je ne sais quoi" that can make me change my mind sometimes!

Just stumbled across your level, and I have to say it was very well done! The Sticker work and attention to details were amazing, and the enemy design was funny and equally as pleasing to the eye as the rest of the level.

I thought your boss at the end of the level was really cool too, and the use of the 3d layer glitch was one of the best uses I've ever seen. I'm still wrapping my head around how to go about using that glitch. It's a heck of a lot harder to build in the background than it is to build normally lol.

I do have a couple of suggestions, and one very minor glitch to report

The 2nd mop enemy in the level actually fell over. I'm not sure how because when I reached it it was already turned over. It's an incredibly minor detail but I thought you might like to know.

The only real criticism I have is that I think you used too many speech bubbles. Lots of them weren't necissary and some of them (like the one about gas condensing pool) popped up in mid jumps and platforming, which distracted me and i fell to my death. It's really the designer's choice on how much dialogue to put in his level though so I leave that entirely up to you, just my opinion

Anyhow I thought it was a great level. Five stars and a heart easy!

Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed!

Yeah.. sometimes the emitted roller sponges them to flip on that ramp when it backs up. The few times it does it, I found it hysterical and left it for now. I may not allow them to shoot backwards since they only travel so far, but I dunno.. I just find it all so funny that I left it alone.

Hmmm... I know about the speech bubbles. Some folks love them and some don't like so many. However in my case I feel it is sorta critical to the story as well as the humor later when you find a "real hallway". That one though should only fire after you land on the first platform and avoid messing up your jump. Sorry 'bout that! I will look at tweaking it a bit.

Thanks again and really appreciate your comments!

Brilliant, brilliant level, even better than I had expected and a great sequel to Space Escape 1, although I did find it to be a lot harder than the first. The visuals were top notch and obviously similar to SE1, which isn't a bad thing. It had some similarities to StarCruiser but I enjoyed these visuals more because they were more cartoony and didn't take themselves seriously. The gameplay was great with some really awesome puzzles, I especially liked the structure of the entire level, it was nothing like SE1 and more like a Jackofcourse level, only this had layers of detail.

There were a few things I didn't like though, the difficulty overall was a bit harder than I had expected, and the Triangle part didn't really fit. I also didn't like the material you used for the triangles, also the background in certain areas of the level were pretty bare and could have used more details/decorations. If the thermo allows, I suggest you add more decorations on the back layer of the triangles part and the slide part toward the end.

The bosses at the end were also great, I actually found them to be innovative and inspiring, the first thing that popped into my head was, "why the hell hasn't anyone done this before." I gave the level 5 Stars and a Heart.

And don't tell anyone, but this is the best level so far this year.

Well that was just so much fun (except that part when I was being stupid - you know what I'm talkin' about jay-dub... all me though...)

The design was top-notch, pro-quality. Literally eye-candy! I loved the innovative use of decorations and the stickering. Fantastic.

The gameplay was excellent too (although... oh... never mind - tee hee). But, I must say... I was not a big fan of the glass see-saw platforms - just a bit too much work for the pay-off (but then, my hand eye coordination is on par with a brick). The puzzle aspects were great and the back tracking was very well done. Especially the use of camera zones to give little teasers of what's to come. I enjoyed the triangle ascent, but I agree that it seemed out of place - as did the material used there.

The sound and lighting were near perfect, and the dialog and humor was really entertaining. I laughed out loud a couple of times!

And finally, the boss... very unique and quite well done. Not too challenging but enough to make you play it careful.

All in all, my friend... an excellent effort!! :star::star::star::star::star:, hearted and tagged Brilliant!

5 stars, me and Shadowheaven owned the level and your mine game, even broking it in the first session, it begged to our knees praying to not shoot it so hard.
Wonderful level, really worth the wait.
I really liked how you merged and use materials, especially the one from the history pack, the one with stars.
Also, you made the level alive.
The only section I didn't like was the one with the triangles, but just because it didn't fit the level, since it's ok gameplay wise.

Ahh.. too cool. I was hoping that you would stop by! Really happy you liked it and appreciate your comments as I always look forward to your perspectives as you don't pull any punches. I may not agree with you all the time, but still find it very informative! So glad it exceeded your expectations and really happy you enjoyed my death flower. That was my pet name for it when I was building it. In SE1, the turret opened up and shot AT you.. I thought it would be fun to this time inject you into the turret. That thing to forever to get working and look the way I envisioned.

As far as the cons. First off the lack of decorations in the triangles and the ramp at the end. Yup.. ran out of thermo and had to steal the planned background in the triangles to actually make the ramp at all. It was looking more like I was simply going to drop the scoreboard after killing the boss, but I really wanted that surprise drop for that "now what?" moment. I had a different background in the triangles, but found it was horribly dark as well as I needed a material on the triangles that you could see through. I almost went with the rusty metal grill stuff, but what I picked I felt looked more alien. I might change it back though.. never know. I am thinking of going back and come up with some stickers to decorate the triangle section as well as the ramp section as I probably have the thermo for another custom sticker and stickers in general. ..and those parts do bug me quite a bit. So you nailed it... those parts are sorta bare.

As far as it the triangles not fitting.. well.. it kinda does. At least in my goofy story.. I needed you to be in a machine as you took a wrong turn through the rafters so to speak, besides the fact that you are traveling through the ship non linear. Hopefully it will make more sense as the story progresses... there is a reason to my insanity after all. LOL! Actually, directly below you (even though you can't see it) is a gas condensing pool that you jumped over. What better thing to have a gas stirrer? Can't have lumpy gas or else you can't create bug zappers can you? Basically, I wanted it to be as you were in a machine like a mini maze organic platformer and to further suggest "I'm not supposed to be here". For some reason I like them and after playing around on them for a month or so, they grew on me and I used them.

True.. it probably is a bit harder than I really wanted, but I guess I have a few other levels that are horribly easy and always wanted to have some trickier ones in my portfolio so to speak. Fun, but offered a bit of a challenge without being impossible or needing to break the controller to get to the end. I suspect though it will cause quite a few to give up early, but oh well... I will keep that in mind in the next one as it starts off a bit easier and ummm zanier.

Good thoughts and really appreciate your comments!

Thanks so much V0rtex!! Really happy you got a chance to play as well as enjoyed it!

As far as getting lost.. I bet you would have done that section perfectly had I had a timer on you awaiting the drop of the next room as well as forcing you to scramble to a safe pad in your VR challenge!

Sorry... I like those teeter totters!! It was goofy, weird and somewhat of a new twist on the ones in the story levels. I liked having to slide down to gain moment to launch you up. After a bit of practice, you can ascend that section pretty quickly. ..and it fits in perfectly with my zany story. Yes.. there really is a story, although I did make it up so uhhhh fair warning on the upcoming episode(s).

As far as the triangles.. see comments above. I can see those may well be my bane in this level!! LOL!!

Thanks OmegaSlayer! Really happy you had fun as well as you found the mini game! So you were able to break it? I do have one minor issue that is horribly rare I may have a fix for so I am interested to see what exactly you did to break.

..and again. Triangles.. see my above comments!! LOL!!

Thanks again everyone.. this was such an awesome treat to have all my friends check out the level and comment. I really enjoyed this one and hope the next one is back even better !!

I forget about the short zipline section.
Sackboy glitches as hell without reason, his arms stretch and it's difficult to reach the platform.

I can see those may well be my bane in this level!! LOL!!
I like them gameplay wise, but yes, they can even be frustrating.
I don't know if you've ever played my level Run For Your Freedom.
It has a similar concept involving rotating rings on different levels, overdubbing for short periods.
I thought it was innovative but people complained that the section was too long, too hard, so give it a shot if you can/want.
I also added other rather new stuff that people didn't even noticed.
My level has 3 stars, 200ish plays, 30-ish hearts and the creation was spanned over 5 month working almost every day.

I don't want to depress you, but just think about it , and decide if you really want to continue with your decision or change it now.
I've experienced that failures over great expectations on this game/community happen way too much, and it's crystal clear how much work, passion and sweat you put in this level.
Take my words as they are, really friendly, really with my heart in my hand.
Other than that just keep kicking a...what you know.

Yeah!! What is up with string these days!?!?! It works amazingly well execpt every 100th time and then it decides to invoke rubber band mode. I have some thoughts how to fix that up as that part should not be that way.

I understand where you are coming from and appreciate your advice. I truly do!! I just don't think I will change it. I have added some stickering to the back wall that may help you see the movements better as it really is a place of tap jumping here and there as well as waiting for the right moment. So I dunno.. I am leaving it for now though I might experiment a bit on my moon in a workshop to possibly make it a bit less tricky. Thing is usually levels are to get harder as you progress... at least you can't die that easily there! You can... just not that easily.

I figured I would hear the most screaming at the death flower. What is kinda funny is that really isn't the boss in the series!! Had I been able to wrap it up in this one there is a really REALLY freaky thing awaiting you all at the end.

Be very afraid!

Yes I have played your Run for your Freedom, but not for some time. I will give it a shot and report back though it might be a tomorrow or the next day before I get a chance.

Thanks again!

Oh no.. not at all! I understood and no worries! I still will check it out as I do remember seeing it early on, but then I don't think I ever saw the finished level. Pardon me for being brain dead sometimes! LOL!

Wonderful level. I've been watching it evolve on the next TV over from me since its birth, and am still amazed how polished and fun it turned out to be. The amount of detail you put into every nook and cranny is insane! lol Generally sequels leave me a bit disappointed, but not in this case. It's definitely better than the first. And as far as the speech bubbles are concerned: I live with these speech bubbles all day long, folks...lol Great job, jw....I'm very proud of you! 2010-02-04 02:58:00

Sorry to go a bit off-topic but this truly calls for it:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NNC0kIzM1Fo&feature=fvst

Edit:

Onto your level comments now!!
Gonna keep it short since most that can be said, has been said in previous comments.

Positive:

I enjoyed this one, even more so than the first.
The first one was a bit more story-heavy, which I loved, but you filled up that little gap with a ton of excellent gameplay in the sequel!!

I've visited your different "workshops" on many occasion and I'm amazed you were able to fit them all in this one level, even the hidden minigame!!
My favourite must be the small bossfight as it is both original and inspired. Very well done on that one.

You brought back the evil mop buckets, that was a lovely surprise as you even gave them a deadly update!!

The level has a nice flow and only loses some of its steam when you reach the triangle platforms, which slowed things down a bit too much imo.

Great sci-fi visuals with a lot of small details

"Negative":

I'm in the anti-triangle camp I'm afraid since I really didn't think they fit visually and the layer switching was a tad tedious.

That will be all.

In short, a worthy successor to Space Escape 1 with excellent gameplay throughout.

LOL!!! Ok.. ok... sorry and point taken, but such an awful song and one I had never heard before!? Makes me wonder how the heck YOU knew of it!! Yikes!!

Thanks for the review! Really appreciate the insight. I've learned quite a bit since the first one and always enjoy learning a bit more to improve my levels! That being said ...I doubt I change the triangles, but I will use that as a learning process for the next level. I did change the scenery in that room quite a bit to make it seem more like you are in a machine of some sort. It was kinda bland, but I did manage to gain some extra thermo and dress it up as well as the final ramp sequence quite a bit.

Actually there were two other rooms I did for this one that did not fit as well as the final boss. ...so I do have a bit left on the table so to speak to have a head start on Space Escape III

Thanks again!!

Very fun level j, nice to see the mop heads return! You packed this with detail upon detail, (loved the control panel that looked like a retro arcade cabinet) i took another play just to look at all the little bits and bobs. I missed the mini game though, no idea where that is!2010-02-04 22:09:00

As for our agreement... I played it, 5 starred and hearted it... Mind you, the last two weren't part of the agreement... but, uh...

Anyway, very good and all that. My problem was in the section with the "floor stoppers" that go downhill with the red switches, it's very hard to see which plane you're in, but tis all good, tis all good. the boss was tough, but that was the point I bet.

Anyway... I sent you a PSN, so yeah, you should be able to do the final bit of your job. Thanks for that... and yeah, this was an awesome level too ^-^

Ive played this twice now and loved it both times. The design was amazing. The use of materials, stickers and accessories all blended extremely well together. The lighting was also very well done. Gameplay was varied, original and fit into the theme well, apart from the traingle section. It seemed too slow paced and a little frustrating if you fall down. Also the visual design wasnt as good as the rest of the level. The boss was great. The use of 3d here made it look spectacular. I had a few layer changing problems at the start of it, but quickly figured out where I need to be. I rated this 5 stars and tagged brilliant and hearted. The effort put into creating this is very apparent. Well done!2010-02-05 00:33:00

Thanks Rock!! Glad you got a chance to play. Wow.. hope I didn't make it sound like you HAD to, but appreicate taking a look. Just really excited about this one. Floor buffers you mean! lol !! Aren't those things freaky!? Maybe it is a bit too weird of an camera angle there, but needed to give you a heads up to certain death coming. I may look at it again and possibly tweak that a bit.

Cool Steve thanks! Glad you enjoyed!

I did dress up that section just a bit, but I do know what you mean. I ran short on thermo and that as well as the ramp to the finish ended up a bit flat. I will probably leave the platforming alone though unless I think up something I like better. At this point, I am more excited about working on Space Escape III and to see if I can actually finish this series or end up with Space Escape IV.

Thanks again!

Thanks julesy! So awesome for you stop by and say that! Glad you enjoyed and appreciate you stopping by waaaaaay back when to check out the mini game. Kinda funny to think that you were one of the first to see it in my workshop and can't find it where it is!! I would be most happy to give you a hint if you like, but you will kick yourself silly once you know where it is.

Ya know.. I'm kinda curious to know how many folks got all 8 secrets!

This is such an awesome level. I've had so much fun playing it and the visuals are great. I love all the details you've managed to fit in. It has a real retro-spaceship feel to it - control panels with flickering lights everywhere, lol! Nice touches of humour too. I even enjoyed the triangles!

You really know how to hide your prize bubbles too! I've managed to find 7 secrets so far and I'm determined to get that last one! I have found the mini game and I'm not sure why but I get so tense playing it! When I get to the end my right thumb hurts from gripping the controller too hard. In spite of the extra points I'm so glad there are only 4 rounds - a fifth would finish me off!

Thanks for a level which is a whole heap of fun. 5 stars and hearted.

Cool!! Thanks so much and glad you enjoyed it! I had such a blast creating this and for the longest time never thought I would ever be done with the thing!

...and a vote for triangles to boot! woo hoo!! LOL!!

You found 7.. wow! Nice work. If you need a hint sometime. Just PM me. As far as the mini game, I added only 4 rounds so a group of 4 could take turns. It probably is a bit excessive for a 1 player, but I have spent countless hours playing that thing and have some ideas for yet another.

Thanks again!

Thanks so much! Yeah those mop buckets are quite hilarious. I have to thank my girlfriend for that idea. However she never knew they would turn out so cool until she saw them. She flat out laughed hysterically for quite awhile.

Hope you try the first episode as that is where the first make their appearance. In fact most of the crazy enemies as well as the evil gun turret at the end were featured in the first one. The floor buffers were a new one though.. and they all should be making an evil reappearance in Space Escape III.

Thanks again!!

I do have one observation to make... this is probably the best stickered level I have ever played.... and I should know, i think i removed every stinking one of them in an attempt to learn. I can attest you are certifiable. I thought I was a sticker freak! I dont know how you fit that many in this level!!! there were places, like on what appeared to be indented step ladders on the walls ,where to create depth and shadow you used the realistic shadow ring like 10x's on an already custom stickered background. Evil. Genius! Incidentally, you had a reflective 'squarred' sticker over some arabic tile of some such thing... How exactly did that work?2010-02-06 17:52:00

Hiya jww!

It was an honour to test this, but I had to wait nearly a week to play this what with my holiday, but it was the first level on my list! I've waited soooo long for it, was it worth the wait? Let me say this...

In space, no one can hear you mop!

Great fun, great pacing and great level. Ludicrously brilliant stickering skills on show here, a long with loads of super puzzles and platforming madness. I really hope there's plans for more to come. Also, sorry to bring this up again, but I'm really delighted this is holding on to its rating - you're aware of how annoyed I still am at the rating of the first one. Still, who cares - ratings are overrated, the quality of this level is NOT overrated. Bloody splendid job, squire. Bring on SE III, or die. Simples.

Well done, matey. Great stuff.

Thanks so much! I may be insane, but gosh darn I had fun getting there! LOL!!

Well.. I pick up things myself and twist the concept, rinse and repeat! I spent quite a bit of time wandering around mrsupercomputer's manufactured madness, star cruiser, as well as Good Bad and the Sackboy 3 by Wex and anything by Kiminski. I have learned so much from them and always have to tip my hat. Now after playing Steve_Big_Guns latest level, I have even more ideas!! LOOK OUT!

To answer your question, quite a few of those stickers are combinations of custom color stickers I made in Lite_Sleeper's level and then created other stickers based on those colors in my workshops. Then added more on top of those where it seem to fit. The arabic tile you mention is simply a custom color stuck on top of the tile. It already possess the reflection map. The "logo" of sorts is simply done on top of it all. I did the same thing though maybe with a different color in the entry of my Character Contest entry named Chucky the Caustic Catapillar. That material just looks extra cool stickered!

Hiya MrsSpookyBuz! So glad you made it home safe and sound!

Thank you so so much. Really means quite a bit to me that you are such a fan of my crazy little mop oriented space adventure. {Gosh golly blush blush} You and SpookyBuz have always been so nice and awesome to me and April. Makes me smile! Glad you got a fresh play as there were quite a few minor changes from the Beta that I think helped improve it a bit more!

Not to worry.. I SHALL COMPLY!! Space Escape III is well underway because there are like 2 more rooms and a boss that never fit into this one!! Just have to dream up some more fun stuff to do and plop it all around that! LOL! ..and if I think up to much, who knows.. we may be on our way to an Space Escape IV !! LOL!! However.. for the past few days I am on a break!! I may start up on the next soon, but need to rest my controller as I think my hands are now a bit deformed from the abuse!!

Thanks again and again hope you had an incredible vacation and a most wonderful birthday ever!

Sorry Jww for my late feedback!
I can only say good things about this level. The only flaw I found (you know what it was) you solved it before publish...
I love the paintgun minigame, a lot more of platforms this time so imo that makes it even better, awesome tech (the automatic door... I don't have words).
Overall great sequel, great level and of course 5* & H.
Well done my friend!

Ahhh Poms, no harm done!! I had gotten you PSN message so I knew all was well. Thanks so much for calling me out on the lag issue. Not everyone experienced it during my Beta, but I certainly did notice a difference when I toned everything down a bit. Things just felt crisper with my sack moves. Truthfully, it pretty much looks the same with them dropped down. I think I had just a bit too much range on most of them and wasn't really needed.

At any rate, I really really appreciate your help and so handy to have such a great friend as you to lend a critical eye here and there. Now get back to work on whatever is the next one of your's! As MrsSpookyBuz says, comply or die! LOL!!

Played it at the weekend. An exceptional level! Can't offer any criticism as its pretty **** fine. So many nice touches - liked the sparks ( 3 very small LEDS ? ) on the end of level boss things when they are deactivated. Your level design gives me a target to aim for in future levels. 5 stars and an author heart from me.

If you get a chance checkout my new Under Siege level - feedback greatly appreciated.

Well done on the spotlight too!

Congratulations on the spotlight. Well deserved! I like your new thread title ? the ?wooo hoooo? bit especially, lol!

Actually, I want to do a bit of celebrating myself, as yesterday evening I finally managed to find the last secret prize bubble in your level. Yeay! *does little dance*

I?d probably still be there looking, though, if you hadn?t pointed out that there was a secrets counter near the scoreboard and told me in which order the secrets were numbered. Being able to narrow the search down to only one part of the level made a big difference. I?m posting a picture here to show the counter in case anyone else was as blind as me and walked right past it thinking it was yet another lovely design touch and nothing more!

Anyway, thank you again. I had a lot of fun hunting the bubbles down...and you?re quite right your bubble-hiding verges on the evil at times...you've obviously been spending too much time with RockSauron in his peanut mine or something!

Great level! Loved all the hidden points & minigame. Great detail. One of the better boss battles I've played in some time. And nobody ever mentions sound effects in levels, so I'll throw that out there too! Great attention to sound!

Your level design gives me a target to aim for in future levels. 5 stars and an author heart from me.

If you get a chance checkout my new Under Siege level - feedback greatly appreciated.

Well done on the spotlight too!

Thanks so much!! ...yup.. 3 small led's. I kinda wanted a few more, but thermo was a bit of a consideration. I also had planned a huge amount of pyro and such for the defeat, but oh well.. could not fit it in at that point.

I will check all the levels out by those that posted soon, but I have been on a break from LBP this week. I was doing other projects plus a bit of work on my trailer I did for it for fun! I will be posting that in the 1st post here in a bit.

Congratulations on the spotlight. Well deserved! I like your new thread title – the “wooo hoooo” bit especially, lol!

Actually, I want to do a bit of celebrating myself, as yesterday evening I finally managed to find the last secret prize bubble in your level. Yeay! *does little dance*

I’d probably still be there looking, though, if you hadn’t pointed out that there was a secrets counter near the scoreboard and told me in which order the secrets were numbered. Being able to narrow the search down to only one part of the level made a big difference. I’m posting a picture here to show the counter in case anyone else was as blind as me and walked right past it thinking it was yet another lovely design touch and nothing more!

Anyway, thank you again. I had a lot of fun hunting the bubbles down...and you’re quite right your bubble-hiding verges on the evil at times...you've obviously been spending too much time with RockSauron in his peanut mine or something!

Thanks so much and so happy you found that last one! Not sure if you had prizes turned on or not, but those were kinda funny. I think #7 was the snack machine!! LOL!

I'm #2!

Great level! Loved all the hidden points & minigame. Great detail. One of the better boss battles I've played in some time. And nobody ever mentions sound effects in levels, so I'll throw that out there too! Great attention to sound!

5 and 2 hearts

Awesome! Good work! I think the trick is not dying in the "death flower". You can waste all your points quick if you don't watch it!

Thanks so much and really appreciate your comments on the sound. I have been paying quite a bit more attention to sound and music selections and transitions after learning quite a bit in the last one.

Thanks again! Trailer to be posted here in a bit in the 1st post!

I played both of your levels about a week ago with Morgana, and i have to apologize profusely as I'd never played one of your levels before. I just wanted to let you know that I really enjoyed it. I'm not much for being able to give good feedback, but I did really like them. ^__^2010-02-19 19:57:00

LOL!! Well.. you did play the co-op level that Killian and I did in the Beta, so don't feel too bad. So happy you finally got a chance to check my wacky space series out! No feedback required, just happy you enjoyed!
