50 Layer is not a glitch, it is a MUST for LBP
Archive: 19 posts
Hi! With the 50-layer glitch, LBP has begun to look far better than it was. The glitch provides vastness for the eyes, and the opportunity to produce lively backgrounds. Now the 3 layer claustrophobia of the original game bores me, since new possibilities emerged with the 50-layer glitch. MM shouldn't treat this as a glitch but allow the players to build such backgrounds with an official DLC they will publish. If it is loved, then there's a NEED for it. As for me, it is not simply a NEED, it is a MUST. | 2010-01-31 13:32:00 Author: terbas Posts: 93 |
I completely agree with this! It would also be a nice way to make pools and not feel bad for it! | 2010-02-01 07:32:00 Author: Figfewdisgewd Posts: 73 |
Indeed! I have a hard time using the glitched tools and would love it officially so I could make those beautiful open landspaces, and also so I can make patches of water (by using the layer glitch to hide the rest) | 2010-02-01 18:43:00 Author: Matimoo Posts: 1027 |
it would be even better if they made it easier to edit so we can make contraptions like cars running in the backround and so on...current glitch stretches everything 50 layers and so on...but if they made an official one it would be great so we could add buildings with flashing lights and maybe birds flying or dragons and such | 2010-02-03 01:19:00 Author: Shadowcrazy Posts: 3365 |
im torn. i like the glitch and how it looks but i don't feel right using it. i think some glitches are ok to use, like invisible dark matter, but i don't know about the 50 layer glitch. | 2010-02-03 22:31:00 Author: trip090 Posts: 1562 |
Well look at the Heavy Rain Chronicles level, that use of the Layer glitch was amazing! | 2010-02-03 22:47:00 Author: Pantyer2 Posts: 652 |
50 is too much IMO... Just like 5 more official layers (+ thin ones in between) would be enough to make interesting things, and we would not loose the original LBP feel and simplicity! | 2010-02-04 00:38:00 Author: dajdaj03 Posts: 1486 |
i agree with that. but Teebonsey's Fear and the Phantom Town is beautiful with the 50 layers and it's so detailed. that is what the 50 layers should be used for. | 2010-02-04 08:05:00 Author: trip090 Posts: 1562 |
A background creation mode would be AWESOME. This lets us personalise our level ALOT more and kills the repetitiveness. | 2010-02-04 12:19:00 Author: RangerZero Posts: 3901 |
Yes, a "background editor". That would carry LBP2 to a much higher level of awesomeness (and even 5 front and five back layers would be enough to make wonderful backgrounds).... | 2011-01-04 14:30:00 Author: terbas Posts: 93 |
I think the reason MM don't endorse it, or want to make it official is because, well, it's a glitch. Anyone who's played around with it know that it can be relatively tempermental, and I think it could also be potentially hazordous to level creation if you don't know what you're doing. For example, I've heard stories of it crashing PS3s - for example (and I'm not sure if this is any longer the case), but if the 3d layers fall in water, it can damage the PS3 or corrupt data or something. By keeping it a glitch they're basically saying - use it, but at your own risk. Making it official would mean they'd have to do a lot of work to make sure it's 100% safe (Which would be hard - because it's a glitch), and making a similar official tool would kind of complicate things, and make level creation a little bit trickier. The great thing about LBP is that the tools are simple, but you can do a lot with them. Making an official 3D tool may make things hard for newcomers to learn with ease. I mean - if there were that many layers normally, it could cause a massive nusience - right? I don't want to be flicking through 100 layers with R1 and L1! Do you? | 2011-01-04 16:21:00 Author: standby250 Posts: 1113 |
that water rumour must be a lie... or probably a coincidence i've messed around with 3d and water, nothing special happen, it floats like any other object. eh yah or sinks depending on witch material it is. | 2011-01-04 17:11:00 Author: >er. Posts: 785 |
As I, one of the founders of this, I say: 'It is not a must, or a need it is both, us people can prove more, and this will help us prove, for the 110% of a level.' | 2011-01-04 18:44:00 Author: Unknown User |
Dont we get a thread about this about once every two weeks? | 2011-01-04 19:07:00 Author: Luos_83 Posts: 2136 |
Yeah, there was no need to bump this thread which is almost 1 year old... >_> But my opinion still the same (post #7)... | 2011-01-04 19:26:00 Author: dajdaj03 Posts: 1486 |
It's not a glitch, it's left over code from a really early version I can't be bothered to search YouTube for the video buts its there's, Sackboy could use all those layers when they first started the game EDIT: actually, I suppose it is a glitch, seeing as we are forcing the game to use code it shouldn't, but anyway | 2011-01-04 22:37:00 Author: GruntosUK Posts: 1754 |
I can give you an answer directly from Media Molecule. They did not have enough time prior to LBP2. If you want the quote, find it on www.littlebigland.com - its way back in their blog, when syroc asked MM some LBP2 questions. ...around august, I think. | 2011-01-05 00:30:00 Author: Fishrock123 Posts: 1578 |
What a stupid idea. | 2011-06-17 17:21:00 Author: Unknown User |
What a stupid idea. It's actually really cool if you know how to use it. | 2011-06-20 18:06:00 Author: fireblitz95 Posts: 2018 |
