Okay here is the remake of Topsy-Turvy Temple. Seeing as the old one still exists I decided to give this one its own thread (as it is really a whole new level).

Some of the platforms are hard but none are impossible and if you persevere you should make it through ok.

I also heavily suggest that you take careful note of what he says at the start of the level as it is VERY important. Other than that just have fun and if you have any problems or suggestions just let me know as I have just under 1/4 of my thermo left so I have room to do anything that may be necessary to improve it

Hi there,

Since you were kind enough to leave some feedback, I wanted to pay yours a visit and offer some comments.

First off, I like the choice of materials as well as the beginning construction there at the start. I liked the platforming at that you offer, but found it to be a bit too huge for the default camera. For example on those spider web sort of grabbies. You don't know where is a safe place to drop till you die a few times. A few cameras around might help that as well as other spots in your level. Cut scenes triggered on the switches would help to let the player know what he engaged and I think it would be handy to drop a few more portals after a segment is complete. Like for example once after the spider web grabbies and you kill that enemy, it would be handy not to have to repeat all that way if you die attempting the first switch.

I wasn't able to complete it on my 3rd attempt as I wasn't sure where to go after the elevator ride and the two paths you offer. If I recall, the one on the left says, you need that switch flipped or something to that effect, when I hadn't seen another one yet. I attempted the other path, but wasn't sure if there was landing there for that next elevator.

hmm it seems you played the old version of TTT as the new one (which has Redux in the actual game title and is actually its own level) doesn't have spider-webs or even enemies. Still thanks for playing one of my levels, much appreciated2010-02-03 01:16:00

Hi again!

I found the right level!

Much improved for sure! Quite a bit of it shows you have improved in your creation skills such as the contrasting elements in the back layers etc and decorations as the beginning. It did start getting a bit sparse later on, but still quite an improvement.

At the beginning, I think the speech bubbles are backwards. The first comment was to remember the colors, while I think the Hit my head comment should be first. Possibly just move that color hint further where the colors are since you have a nicer camera zone there to show them off. I suggest possibly a bit of white light from an led above that as the colors without the hint would be impossible to recognize.

I would also suggest putting in some more portals. The way I look at portals is I add one before each new segment. There are quite a few zones that if you complete quite a bit of platforming as well as puzzling like on the switches to get out that if you die, you have to repeat quite a bit. In my case I got horribly lost as I was so far away from where I died. It was after I completed all the switches, enabled the lifts and there was some huge blocks moving up and down with spikes underneath. Quite a huge jump and if you die, you end up well before the whole series of finding all the switches starts.

Reward your player with a portal and some bubbles for completing segements and I think you will have more completions. Nothing wrong with having a hard level, but with so much of this one looking the same, I think you are losing a players interest after a time if they die and have to repeat a huge chunk as well as possibly getting them feeling horribly lost. (me!)

When I did try to repeat, I got past the one area where it sorta opens up and you see the background and while going to the left, I ended up on the floor.

I did like the dark segment with the spotlight, but some of the other dramatic shifts in lighting, going almost black didn't quite make sense.

I liked that you added a few cut scenes to show what new door or path has been enabled, but some others didn't really show that. Also some sounds here and there when enabling switches is always a nice feature.

Let me know if you make any changes and I would be happy to revisit!

yeah I could probably do with some more decoratiosn here and there, but I also didn't want to overdo it either. Still I will look at what I could add.

Strange that because the magic mouth about the colours is the one furthest along the room so I don't understand why that one is showing up first. I shall have to look into that. I also meant to add a light there but I guess I got to busy making sure my level could flip uspide down and just forgot about it...lol, but thanks for reminding me.

Ok will do, more checkpoints and bubbles on the way.

When I did try to repeat, I got past the one area where it sorta opens up and you see the background and while going to the left, I ended up on the floor.

I shall also fix that. Not sure how but I will give it a go.

I did like the dark segment with the spotlight, but some of the other dramatic shifts in lighting, going almost black didn't quite make sense.

Oh well I was just expermenting with different light effects, but if they are not working I shall get rid of some.

I liked that you added a few cut scenes to show what new door or path has been enabled, but some others didn't really show that. Also some sounds here and there when enabling switches is always a nice feature.

Again that is strange as all teh switches are connected to sounds so there should be some when you press the switches, another thing for me to look into.

Let me know if you make any changes and I would be happy to revisit!

Let me know when you update and I will try again as the sounds may have been due to my sound being too far down. Good luck! 2010-02-04 17:21:00

ok I added more checkpoints and bubbles, made sure that switches are connected to sounds and they are (I even turned the volume down on the music so you can hear them better) plus I added a secret room in the small temple just outside the main one that will allow people to get high-ish scores2010-02-04 18:40:00

Ok, so I thought that was a fine little adventure through a tomb. Plenty of obstacles and a little backstracking with switches made it fun. If I could point out one thing negative was that it was often hard to see the platforms/switches/whathaveyou due to the low lights. Obviously we need the low lighting to make the atmosphere but that may be why your completion rate is low. Overall, 4/5, good level!

Also, if you get time, please try my level "A Realm Forgotten" and leave a comment on my thread, Thanks!

Thanks for the review. Yeah it is a bit dark so I have turned the brightness up a bit tho not too much because as you said it is dark to make the atmosphere, still hopefully it i now light enough for ppl to work their way through the level

Oh and I have posted my thoughts on your level
