Could someone please make me a randomiser?
Archive: 13 posts
I need a randomiser for my level, but it needs to be able to do these things: after a certain amount of time(it'd be cool if someone told me how to change the amount of time) it needs to: stop a piston moving(inverted on/off), turn a light on(on/off), activate an emitter(1-shot) add me then send it to my psn: paddy_johnston thanks | 2010-01-30 17:36:00 Author: Unknown User |
Just go to the logc pack levels? | 2010-01-30 17:40:00 Author: Kern Posts: 5078 |
Just go to the logc pack levels? I looked, but the one there has 7 outputs and if i delete any of them it stops working | 2010-01-30 17:41:00 Author: Unknown User |
Connect the first six to three OR switches (there by reducing it to three eventual outputs) and ignore the seventh (or add it to one of the ORs). | 2010-01-30 17:48:00 Author: v0rtex Posts: 1878 |
THANKYOU. I want the outputs to activate at the same time though, so could i reduce the frequency that the keys are emitted and connect them all to a giant OR switch? | 2010-01-30 17:52:00 Author: Unknown User |
Alright - I guess I'm confused now. Why do you need a randomizer if you want all the outputs to trigger at once? | 2010-01-30 18:05:00 Author: v0rtex Posts: 1878 |
I want it to trigger at a random moment, i want the piston to move a gun left and right, and then randomly it will stop and shoot | 2010-01-30 18:26:00 Author: Unknown User |
Aaaah... I see... so you really only need one random output. So I would (and some logiceers will prolly have a simpler, more thermo friendly method, but here goes anyway): Create a circle with a motor bolt Place either a mag key or your mag switches (as you'll need one on-off another on-off inverted, and a one-shot, as described in your OP) along the edge of the circle Have a piston with the mag-partner(s) on it that moves into range of the circle (make sure when the circle is turned away from the extended piston that the mag-switch circumferences are out of range Attach one of the randomizer outputs (set to Directional) to the piston Adjust the speed of the circle and/or the randomizer for different results Does this make sense? I can try to draw it out if need be. | 2010-01-30 19:20:00 Author: v0rtex Posts: 1878 |
could you please draw it? | 2010-01-30 21:05:00 Author: Unknown User |
Okay, so... Just use one of the Randomizer outputs. The wheel is used to help control the frequency of the action. I've added an emitter-timer, so you can also control the duration of the effect (the stoppage of the piston, etc). So the mag-switch on the piston should be set to one-shot. The piston will only come into range of the wheel when the randomizer hits output #1, but it will only activate the action when this happens AND the nag-key has rotated into the effective area of the mag-switch on the piston. http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u180/v0rtex2002/LBP/LBPLogic.jpg Hope this helps! If not, add me and I can come on line and help you. | 2010-01-31 08:40:00 Author: v0rtex Posts: 1878 |
@vortex: wouldn't it be easier to just connect the exit of the randomizer to the emitter? I don't get the piston + motor bolt thing - they're basically a delay generator. | 2010-01-31 12:02:00 Author: Shadowheaven Posts: 378 |

I've not actually used the randomizer yet and I wasn't sure how to control the frequency, so I dreamed up this. Seems like (from what I saw in the Logic Pack - sorry no access to LBP right now) that the randomizer on it's own would have produced the desired effect way too often. There are other ways you could cause the delay too, besides a piston/motor bolt configuration. Or am I totally missing something here (highly likely, lol)? ill try your suggestion, because the custom one i made with vortex instructions is quite big and takes up 2 bars.Yeah, I was afraid that this would be a thermo hog. Good luck though! | 2010-01-31 15:40:00 Author: v0rtex Posts: 1878 |
