Explody help wanted!

Hi all!
I'm making a couple of new levels that utilise massive explosions, but I have one problem. I don't know how to make any of those big explosions with lights and sounds and cars that flip in the air, windows expelling glass and rubble coming 50ft of the ground. How on EARTH do you make those? Are there any genuine tutorials for those, I don't mean the "meh" sort of create your own bomb level, I mean the real thing, like the ones in Ice Age (Faith_rip) and Post-Apocalyptic (you know who.). Also, those ones when the buildings implode downwards and stuff. Please reply! I really REALLY need help!

I think a lot of practice is needed to perfect these... for me, i just go with lots of sound effects and a blinding light. Oh and be warned, the types of effects you are talking about will take up LOTS of thermo!2010-01-29 21:43:00

Woah does it work? Like, does it actually suck things up?

Right, what you could do is make some invisible material and fire it out of an emmiter - Everything not glued down would get blasted away. Though it would be hard to control. Another effect is the fake earthquake effect. If you don't know how to do it all you do is you put a camera on a fast piston. Have loads of rubble suspended in the air by dissolve material and then you can dissolve it making rubble rain from the sky. Another thing is the global lighting explosion effect where the screen quickly changes to orange and then back to normal. If you play post apocoliptic theres always something going on (though antposteller must of fed the thermo cookies or something for him to of fitted that much in). Youll want random bits of rubble all over with things on bolts (like metal rods) swinging down.

Theres just some ideas to get you going. Dont forget also that sound effects and stickers are extremely important as well.
