Two Questions from a Novice

Archive: 5 posts

I'm fairly new to creating levels (I just got LBP about a month ago), and I had a couple questions.

First -- is there a way to change the font or color of text from magic mouths? I'd really like to emphasize certain words in my characters' speech.

Second -- I know it is possible to change the lighting in one's level as a player goes through it. It seems to act like music in this way, but I don't know how it works. I only know how to change the day/night, darkness, fog, etc. settings and they seem to be permanent. I'm wondering because I've seen a level that changes from day to night as I play it, and I'd like to try something similar.

Many thanks in advance.

For Question One, no, you can't change the Font or colour, but you can still emphasise words by putting them in CAPITALS. And I don't really understand your second question, but I assume you're talking about a day/night cycle? You can do that with a certain piece of logic.2010-01-29 02:08:00

Hello.

There is no font color or size control...yet.

In your Tools Bag in your popit, you will find what is called a Global Lighting tool. It is round and has a green center. You can place them anywhere in your level and adjust the lighting for that area. The settings will remain intact until Sacky passes another global lighting tool with different settings.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the response.

Essentially what I mean with the second question is the day/night cycle principle, yeah. More commonly, I've seen levels fade to black during certain parts, then fade back in. To clarify, that's what I'm thinking of.

EDIT: @RickRock_777: Thanks, that's exactly what I was looking for! Strange I hadn't seen it--maybe I should do some more exploring of the Tools Bag.

As for your second question, you use the global lighting tool for that. I think you may have to go to the PS Store to download the "Creator's Pack" (it's free) in order to get the global lighting tool. It should be somewhere under the Tools section of your Popit.2010-01-29 04:10:00
