Define feedback...

As in the "OMG BEST LEVEL EVER LOLOLOL"
Or the other kind which is actually useful...?

Generally I like to have my cake and eat it too, so where's the "all of the above" button? j/k. I used to think it was all about plays and hearts, but I realized that I would prefer to have 50 of my friends enjoy a level rather than 10,000 strangers who don't enjoy a level and rate it one star. 2010-01-28 13:44:00

@Blah - Well, I figured that if it is an author that you have respect for, then it is probably someone who is mature enough to NOT say "OMG BEST LEVEL EVER LOLOLOL", but I guess I could have specified better, it is just difficult to say everything in the choices since there is a character limit.

"Great Feedback" is defined as feedback that talks about the level in detail and praises it for excelling as a level in LBP.
"Terrible Feedback" is defined as feedback that talks about the level in detail and lists reasons why the level is bad.

@kappa - Yeah... cake is good... Maybe if we make a level together, then we can pick two choices... hmmmmmm...

Well Great Feedback would be preferable... But how many people actually leave feedback on levels anyway?2010-01-28 13:51:00

LOL, this is turning out to be a lot more complicated than I thought. Sorry Blah, I was trying to keep it simple, but it seems I might have screwed up...

Feedback can be received in 2 main ways, 1st off all (and the one I was mainly referring to) is on websites such as this one where you can make a level thread and people can leave feedback for you. The second way is that people could actually leave feedback on your level in the comment section.

You don't have to get feedback via level comments, Subterranean Setbacks now has 216 replies to the showcase thread (I checked just now, even I'm not narcissistic enough to know offhand ).

First option, every time. I'm pretty sure I could create something that could reach page 1 of cool pages and achieve thousands of plays, but I don't see how that has meaning whatsoever. Stats don't indicate quality, especially when the majority of gadders are screaming children easily amused with the LCD.

Theres a reason why i invite freinds to my moon to check what i'm building and its for them to say they like it. Even if its published and it gets 2 plays and 1 star getting the respect of some of the top names is all i care about.2010-01-28 14:26:00

Option one, definitely.

This particular piece of the community is the only one that matters to me and I don't really care about numbers.
I just want to know at the end of the day that my friends played it and (hopefully) enjoyed it.

Most of my friends are obsessed by reaching the cool pages, which I totally understand, but its just not my way.

Im not really fussed about making cool pages. I would like to get my level noticed for sure, but I feel like ive done a good job when I get great feedback. Which doesnt happen often since I havent published level in ages... But working on a few now, so hopefully they can get some good feedback.2010-01-28 15:20:00

Looks like it's Zwollie's way or the highway... dang that didn't sound as good as I thought it would.

But I agree with Zwollie's way (ain't no highway for me)

Wow, almost five HUNDRED plays, AND good feedback, too!?

Actually, the second option is fine with me, too. As long as I don't get negative feedback, I'm happy.

500 plays is actually a lot... IMO anyway.

So yeah, first option for sure. Play counts and Cool Levels are overrated.

It's good to see that people have their priorities straight around here.

Well for me i would defintley love to get noticed with thousands of plays and all... but not for something everyone hates. I wouldn't be able to stand having a level with 20 comments a minute saying OMG THAT SUX!!! so first one for me.2010-01-28 16:11:00

To be honest I would choose the top option 'less than 500 plays but great feedback,' But... I would only do this if it were a 5 star aswell because then the plays will obviously increase...2010-01-28 17:48:00

Lol, at the results. If only everyone in the community thought this way. Just today I saw an author who completely republished 2 old levels that just a few weeks ago had enjoyed a full week on the Cool Pages and had garnered him lots of author hearts and attention, he locked the old versions just in case the newer ones didn't perform as well, I find him greedy and pathetic. It's good to know that not everyone is like that, I myself would go with the first option. I've never really cared much about having lots of plays or becoming 'famous,' I'd rather much prefer to have great feedback from those that I know.2010-01-28 20:52:00

At the ned of the day the play count is just a number. Feddback on the otherhand, especially good feedback, is actually worth something. Besides I've played absolutely awesome levels with less than 50 plays so the play count is pointless really.2010-01-31 07:23:00

Probobly option one, id rather get great advice from the pros here, and maybe even learn a thing or two from myself. I really dont give a crap if i reach cool pages, to some levels, it just comes naturally. I used to want to be there, but not really anymore...2010-01-31 22:55:00

I picked option one but i want to actually pick 3 now, because i'd rather have people tell me what's wrong with my level instead of telling me that it's just good; Unless we're talking about quality of feedback, in that case i stick with my choice.2010-02-01 04:22:00
