Question about using sticker switch on levels.

Archive: 17 posts

One question to everyone on this forum:
Do someone have sticker with weight as on picture below?

http://my-lbp.narod.ru/LBP/my/temp/1.jpg

This sticker is situated on object part of stickers. And if you sort stickers by theme - it from Golden Sands section.

I passed all story levels for 100% and have Multi12 version of game on UMD. I have such sticker and use it on one puzzle in my level - Treasure Hunter and a riddle of old castle (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=21890-Treasure-Hunter-and-a-riddle-of-old-castle). I did not install some additional content. By the way - I have common version of game, not Creator's Edition, but after installing patch 2.02 when I played on level "Creator's Edition Showcase" by Lleonard, and there were big amount of stickers from Creator's Edition version I could use that stickers on its level without having it on my collection of stickers.
Arrestor told, that that sticker is not available for him (see last post on game topic ). Now I must change key sticker for puzzle. And question is - why in some version of game some stickers are available and in some version are not. Or maybe difference is on % of story level complete? I want to change sticker key for something better compatible. Please help me.

P.S. Or maybe I got sticker with weight from one of the community levels? Can it be true?

You can use the stickers from Creator's Edition on any level that uses them, even if you don't have the Creator's Edition.

But as for the stickers that you get in Story Mode, you can only use them if you already found them. That's why some people can't solve your sticker switch puzzle.

I won't use that type of switch until Sony activates an option to create custom stickers and place them inside prize bubbles. Then, it will be an interesting way to create keys and puzzles.

Lleonard Pler, thank you for reply! I used sticker switches because stickers have connection to some parts of story. After you comment I will use something other until Sony does updates that you mentioned. Thank you again. And one question else - do you have that treacherous sticker and did you try my level for compability?2010-01-28 12:41:00

I have the "weighing scales" sticker, but my game is 100%. I have no idea where I found it.

I had the same problem in my Interwebs level with the "pink doodle" sticker. At the time, I didn't think about the fact that there would be people who didn't have the sticker. Luckily, it's one of the easier ones to find in the "Down Under" section of the story mode levels, but I did not plan that.

I agree with Lleonard that it's not always a good idea to use sticker switches until Sony sorts this one out. The only thing we can really do is try to use stickers we're pretty sure everybody has (e.g., star, witchetty grub, etc.). That reminds me, has anybody found a guide or FAQ that details exactly where in each story mode level you find the prize bubbles? That would be a useful tool for sure.

Not on-line, but I bought the official guide by Bradygames (a 500+ pages book covering both LBP PS3 GOTY and LBP PSP).

From what I've seen, I *think* you can make any sticker-switch sticker available in the popit just by using it somewhere in the level. Unless you have already collected the sticker then it will only be available for that certain level though. If you don't want the switch trigger to be used anywhere apart from for the switch then just stick it on a block somewhere way out of sight and I think it should work ok regardless of whether you have collected the sticker.2010-01-29 00:43:00

Interesting. We should try this out.... Does anybody know for sure that they're missing a certain sticker? In other words, who here hasn't finished story mode yet? We can create some dummy levels to test this.2010-01-29 00:50:00

Well I haven't and when I loaded up one of your levels yesterday to check my hunch there was a whole load of my stickers in my popit that I definitely have never seen before 2010-01-29 10:18:00

T3natrix, Idea was very good. But I test it in such way: I created simple level: material with sticker and near sticker switch with the same sticker as a key (I used scales sticker), that switch on speech engine.I publish this level sa "test". Then I examined downloaded level - everything work fine (of course - I have this sticker in my collection). Then I backup my profile folder from memory stick to computer HDD. Then deleted my profile and begin game from begining. I passed introduction and first level in Australia and get access to community moon. At this point I had only few stickers from 1 level of Australia. I have not scales sticker at that moment (it from Golden Sands part). Then I downloaded my test level and try to activate sticker switch. And unfortunately I could not do it - I have not such sticker. I see sticker on material near, but have no it on my stickers menu. Here is picter:

Very sad. I must change sticker on my level on something better widespread. But I can move existed sticker from material to sticker switch and it will be work! See next picture :

http://my-lbp.narod.ru/LBP/my/temp/s1.jpg

So We can use sticker switches in some way, for example place many wrong stickers and one right near sticker switch and player must find right trough finding some hint on level or just try all sticker for luck.

Arrestor, deleting and copy back is just a few minutes work. But having additional tester is always better.

I will change sticker and republish my level in a few minutes.

Hmm. Maybe it doesn't work for stickers that are used specifically as switch triggers then. If you're still testing, try placing the scales in a level without the sticker switch and see if it is available in the popit then? I don't have my psp on me at the moment or I'd give it a go myself.2010-01-29 13:11:00

It is very strange, but now when I test my level, I have such stickers collection on level as you can see on first picture in both cases - if I use profile with 100% game finished and with profile only with 1 level passed.

Then I add one more sticker on the left wall - sticker from carnival part (not as switch key - only as a sticker on the wall for decoration) and in sticker menu I have only this last placed sticker in 100% profile and no any stickers in new profile. I have no sticker for switch in stickers menu and only way to switch on the trigger is to place sticker from wall to the switch area. It means that sometimes stickers that you did not find in story levels you can only see on the walls, and can not have it in stickers menu. Very strange, because I had stickers from Creator's Edition while I played in level "Creator's Edition Showcase" by Lleonard and in intoduction of game story - when you first time play game - there are many stickers in sticker menu and also one sticker switch key. I don't undertand what is the rule for sticker appearing in menu.

P.S. I wrote that "It is very strange, but now when I test my level, I have such stickers collection on level as you can see on first picture in both cases - if I use profile with 100% game finished and with profile only with 1 level passed. I had such case in sticker menu on my test level until Ireenter to community moon to download several new levels for weekends. And than I try my test level - and IT"S A MIRACLE - in my 100% profile I had sticker for trigger and new one sticker both in stickers menu. What happened when I test it previous time - I don't know. Maybe there were some glitches in game.

Yes, that's what I payed for it. But it's totally worth it, IMHO.

Besides the comprehensive walkthroughs, there are also guides of creating levels and minigames for PS3 & PSP, with step-by-step explanations of how to create some story mode levels.

did you pay 14$ or 14$+29$ ? In Russia I can buy books by Bradygames in on-line markets, but it costs about 40-45$
instead 14-17$. And right now there is no "LittleBigPlanet Super Book Signature Series Strategy Guide" in Russian markets. By he way - e book version in Bradygames site costs 19.99$.
