So, I've been searching through the forums...no clear indication of how to make good lightning. I mean, for sheet lightning, just make a really bright LED (in the background, this can be AMAZING), but for fork lightning... would you have to use an emitter to emit a fork you made out of whatever material (say, glass) and electrified, and then make it have a short lifetime? and how would you make it so that it would emit the flashes at seemingly random times, like the real world? I know, somewhat strange question...but I thought I would ask, at least. | 2010-01-28 03:03:00 Author: Ragfell Posts: 729 |
My friend from school made an awesome lightning machine. If you're online at the same time he is, I'll ask him to come over to LBP and show it to you. I'm sick right now though and I have a ton of make-up work, so I probably won't be on much until next week... | 2010-01-28 05:25:00 Author: Shremco Posts: 65 |
You've got the right idea, i think. For my lightning I created a couple of custom forks, electrified them and attached them to a piston on some dark matter, which shook them back and forth real fast. Then you simply put them in an emitter which has their lifespan set to a very low number like .3 seconds. to make them seem random you can either set up a pattern using many emitters that work over a period of however long you want the pattern to last, or you can use a randomizing machine, like the one you can get from the logic vault. | 2010-01-28 07:00:00 Author: Duffluc Posts: 402 |

In the advanced logic pack there is a randomizer, mabey you could that up somehow. | 2010-01-28 13:33:00 Author: Emogotsaone Posts: 1030 |
If you've ever played my level crazy storm survival challenge *cough cough* *splutter* *shameless plug* *though its pretty crap anyway* I have some lightning there. Its just electrified glass that emits really fast, making it look like its flashing. I made a basic randomiser as well that's easily customisable for the amount of flashes that you want. So it random points it flashes for a bit and then dissappears. I could send you the concept if you want. Just gimme a shout | 2010-01-28 16:39:00 Author: theamilien Posts: 485 |
