Give me some privacy! // Invite blocking
Archive: 21 posts
The added option to block people from joing your games was a welcome one...but that still doesn't stop people harrassing you. Although one can stop people wanting to join you, you still cannot stop them inviting you. This is just as bad when you want to be left alone, or busy doing something you want to stick to, be it finishing a level or creating something. What could work is making the block more flexible with the following options: Allow Invite & Join requests Only allow Invite requests Only allow Join requests Block all player requests | 2010-01-27 13:24:00 Author: FuzzballFox Posts: 217 |
Yes I totally agree. It's only gone part way to solving the problem so just doesn't work. I've been complaining about this since day one and they still haven't fixed it. We also need the option to stop all the stupid unwanted messages coming up on screen like "so and so has scored ??? on ???" and "??? has published ???". I find those even more annoying becasue they come up every few seconds and some are so big they cover speech bubble messages in the level that you're trying to read or even worse cover the screen just as you're trying to make a difficult jump for the umpteenth time and are just about to make it but the message coming up kills you. Thanks a lot. It wouldn't be quite so bad if they came up smaller and in a corner away from stuff you actually want to see but they just block everything else out. Surely Sony could alter that. This one major problem has made me seriously consider deleting every friend on my list but I'd rather not do that. It would be much better if they just fixed it. How's about us getting an official petition together and getting plenty of names on it to send to Sony. | 2010-01-27 13:46:00 Author: mistervista Posts: 2210 |
Completely agree with both of your comments, Fuzzball and Mr. V. It's something MM could probably easily change with a patch. | 2010-01-27 13:52:00 Author: Syroc Posts: 3193 |
It should also tie in to your PSN status, if you set it busy, it should completely ignore all requests, and remove the notifications at the top of the screen. Setting them individually by profile settings would be great as well. | 2010-01-27 13:53:00 Author: GruntosUK Posts: 1754 |
Yeh that is a great idea. Its the worst when you are in the middle of playing or creating a level, then you go to click X for something and the invite thing pops up at the same time. This happend to me on the bunker, I was about three quartars of the way through on my first try. (NO DEATHS) And guess what pops up. Sucked out of my game and dumped in my friends. Quite frustrating. | 2010-01-27 13:57:00 Author: litled Posts: 165 |
I agree one hundred percent with this. I actually had to create a secret screen name so people would leave me alone when I wanted to play alone or with my husband, or if I was creating. I would constantly get angry messages saying "why won't you let me join? you hate me " .... and i would explain how I couldn't play at that moment. Then they would continue to spam my name. If I could just shut this off, there would be no problem. No one reads your status, either. I am almost always set to unavailable, but that apparently means nothing. It's really turned me off to the game, to be honest. I mean, I cant' even PLAY under xkappax for five minutes without being spammed. | 2010-01-27 15:22:00 Author: xkappax Posts: 2569 |
I hate invites. I'd like if we could block from certain people SACKBOY (not posting psn, dont want to embarass them) wishes to join you, will you let them? I put no SACKBOY wishes to join you, will you let them? I put no SACKBOY wishes to join you, will you let them? I put no SACKBOY has invited you to join them. I put no You have a recieved a message from SACKBOY SACKBOY: why do you hate me?!?!?!!1 | 2010-01-27 15:57:00 Author: Matimoo Posts: 1027 |
i agree... im tired of them saying "play with me or i block you" when you dont join though. | 2010-01-27 17:27:00 Author: vergildmcking Posts: 190 |
It should also tie in to your PSN status, if you set it busy, it should completely ignore all requests, and remove the notifications at the top of the screen. Setting them individually by profile settings would be great as well. Didn't think of that actually, it could also send the person an automatic message saying you are busy too. | 2010-01-27 19:51:00 Author: FuzzballFox Posts: 217 |

Yeah, that's been happening to me a lot lately. One (ex) friend continually spammed me with join requests. Turned auto-reject on, but did that stop him? NO! JOIN REQUEST TIME! It took me forever just to navigate to MyMoon. Oh boy, here come the threatening messages... "LET ME JOIN!" "COME ON, YOU *****!!" "*moar vulgar words*" The guy wouldn't even stop when I kindly asked him to leave me alone. Deleted. Sheesh. Really annoys me when I get hit with an invite request while I'm already playing with other friends. :S If I'm lucky, everyone else will try to come with me and I'll get that life saver "Cannot join such-n-such because there are not enough open slots". | 2010-01-27 23:36:00 Author: GreyMRP Posts: 588 |
Yeah, this would be amazing. Sometimes when I'm in a full room and a friend is ****** off that he can't join, he will keep spamming the Join request... My only options are to tolerate the spam for up to 10 minutes straight, or delete him temporarily from my PSN friends list... ugh | 2010-01-28 05:33:00 Author: Shremco Posts: 65 |
i think that the function is already in it... its called "auto-block invites".... tell me if im wrong. | 2010-01-28 20:09:00 Author: vergildmcking Posts: 190 |
Well yeah, but it only blocks requests for people who want to join YOU. They, sadly, can still spam us to death with requests for us to join THEM. Very irritating. :S | 2010-01-28 20:39:00 Author: GreyMRP Posts: 588 |
oh thanks! welp... then this is a good idea. | 2010-01-29 13:06:00 Author: vergildmcking Posts: 190 |
When someone is spamming me with requests i tend to just get the shotgun out of the cupboard. | 2010-01-29 16:27:00 Author: Doopz Posts: 5592 |
That only works with friends living close by. | 2010-01-29 16:32:00 Author: Syroc Posts: 3193 |
Well then i nuke there house with the big red button in my kitchen. | 2010-01-29 16:34:00 Author: Doopz Posts: 5592 |
ACK, that is SO ANNOYING. Especially when they start messaging. I'm not going to mention PSN's but they were something to the effect of, "in vit me" and "let me join!!!!". So I tell him I'm creating and want to be alone.. but they keep coming! So I let him join to see what is so important that he wants to say (or do).. he had absolutely nothing. He just wanted to be there! UGH wish I could block those. | 2010-06-28 00:13:00 Author: Avacadolord Posts: 22 |
It's also annoying when someone bumps a 6 month old thread | 2010-06-29 11:47:00 Author: Kern Posts: 5078 |
