HIIII! I uploaded a few of my songs onto Youtube and I was wondering if I could get some feedback from you, and maybe some constructive criticism? That'd mean a lot to me!

You can ignore the videos; all I did was either quickly film myself doing something or I mashed up footage me and my friends made in 08-09. I'm still going to upload some more tracks, but I've picked these out first, as they're most recent.

First of all, I have to say your music is very genuine. I can tell you put time and effort into making it sound good and I really like that. I loved listening to your stuff as a fellow electronic music making myself; your stuff reminds me of some of my very early compositions.

I can see you are a fan of Aphex Twin (cool, so am I), I can definitely hear the similarities between you and him. I like the sounds you use for your drums and your synths are very analogue-digital sounding.

Now, I do have some critique. I think you should try constructing a more harmonically tight melody line. Sometimes it feels like your melodies wonder to places they shouldn't be going. Also, some of the main keys to a good song especially in the genre you make are layers, dynamics, and variation. I have noticed your songs are a little repetitive, try mixing things up. Innovation is necessary to create a unique identity for yourself; I can already tell you have figured out a lot of good techniques such as gating and arpeggiating.

What programs/gear you use to make your music?

Cool stuff, man. Keep up the good work. Have you checked out soundcloud.com yet? It's perfect for posting music to show people.

Thanks for the response! I'm using Logic Studio, but thats about it; no synths, hardware, or drum machines so it's a bit limited when it comes to certain things.

And yes, I've tried signing up for soundcloud.com but I for some reason can't upload my music files :O Maybe it's cause I'm on a mac...

EDIT: Saw your music page on soundcloud and was very impressed! Your music covers many styles of electronic music. They sound pretty pro too! Good luck in the future, sir!

Cool, I have logic studio too, but I can't seem to get myself to use it. I do all my stuff in Reason 4 and I've gotten used to it's interface.

I think soundcloud.com has been having some technical difficulties lately. You'll be able to upload them shortly. It's not because you have a Mac, I have one too, haha.

Thanks btw.

Oooh alright I thought my computer was just being we todd ed.

I think I got used to LogicStudio cause before that I started off with GarageBand and mastered it, and it's a similar interface. It took me a while before actually using it, but one day I was bored and decided to get off my fat tush and get used to it, and I did Since then I've used it as my new lil toy but I've yet to try out other things. I've done a lot with it but I feel I could do more if I had the right equipment...
