I first published this level a few weeks ago but unfortunately it got moderated! I checked the level over and couldn't find what was wrong with it and assumed it was the whole level and I just left it on my create moon unplayed and wasted. I was really upset as I spent ages working on it.

I found out on Sunday when i was staring through the level that the reason why my level got moderated was because i took a pic with my eye toy of a scary womens face off of a DVD cover LOL i used this image in my level for the scoreboard at the end and the level cover. Obviously the image was unsuitable for lbp! I deleted the images and published my level again Sunday night.

The level is very short but i tried to get as much in as i could, i wanted to add more detail but the level overheated.

What made me make the level:
One night I was watching the film "Paranormal Activity" and I thought to myself, hmmmm I wonder if I can make a bedroom with some weird stuff going on in the dark...

So I made a 3D room and started to make strange shadows appear (like in the film). Once I had finished it I thought to myself I could make this into a level!

So I started to build another part of the house onto the room I had made and from then on I made a haunted mansion. I used quite a few emitters in the level so my bar was very limited! I wanted the level to be different so I tried my best to make it scary, its quite hard to make a scary level on lbpt. I also tried to add as much detail as possible, such as 3D objects/backgrounds etc.

My friend yoda1604 sent me a song he had made and said I can have it as a present from him so I decided to add it into my level as it went so well in it.

The song is "Hallelujah". I also asked him if he could make me some short horror music for me to add at the beginning and near the end of my level as most of the LBP songs didn't match it. He made the music brilliantly and i am honoured to have his great work in one of my levels!

Storyline:
The house is known for its strange happenings and its about time someone did something about it! You have to make your way through the mansion, not letting anything or anyone stop you and your aim is to destroy the property! You need to release all evil! The level is based in an old empty haunted mansion, it is dangerous, unsafe and scary!

I hope you all like my level, please note the level is overheated and quite short so please don't judge it based on the length or detail as i tried to fit in as much as i could.

Please let me know what you think of my new level 52 Whitechapel Lane

I played this last night... or the night before.... well, regardless - fantastic level! Really great atmosphere. Loved the part where you platform on the books - I thought that was really well done.

My only suggestion would be that I thought a couch in one room looked below the rest of the level graphically, but that was a small thing. Great job!

I played this earlier today and I have to say it was a really good level. The start in the bedroom with the weird stuff happening reminded me a lot of the recent movie Paranormal Activity, which considering was the aim means objective achieved. This was nice and spooky and really set the atmosphere but once you could actually play it just got better. As CCubbage said I loved the part where you platform on the books, I especially like the haunted (bouncing) table and chairs, doesn't sound like much but it is the little details like that that make it worth playing.

My only gripe is that the 3D room bit at the start may be a bit too long, I began to get bored waiting for it to actually start (tho as I said earlier it was still will made and helped set the atmosphere

Many thanks for both of your comments CCubbage and cthulhu82 i appreciate it.

I know what couch your talking about CCubbage lol and i didnt notice that the day after i published but i didnt bother changing it :s

cthulhu82, yes your are right, the beginning does take a while to kick in but i was hoping people wouldnt see it as boring, i hoped they would look in the room and think hmm whats gonna happen here?? And then the action begins!

Like i said i appreciate any feedback thanks!

perhaps if your shorten it by about 10 seconds or something. I mean it starts off well and you do wonder "what is going on here?" but this soon turned into "will I ever be able to move?". You need to time it so that people are still on the "what is going on here?" stage of thinking.

Now like any good horror game (and movie) I think this is in need of a sequel, perhaps one where you can venture out into the grounds, where there is possibly an old spooky graveyard (or at least some tombstones that can move around as if they are haunted).

I'm glad I waited until this morning to play. If I had played last night before bed I'd still be having nightmares! Great creepy atmosphere and music.2010-01-28 11:08:00

Not really my piece of cake gameplay wise, but I must say that this level is REALLY well done.
Wonderful use of the layer glitch, of the camera and most of all custom music and sound effects.
Maybe you should want to made the sounds at the end invisible.
Anyway 4 stars, would be 4 and a half, but just because the level lacks gameplay, for everything else it's great.

Thank you for your feedback, yeah i know i didnt add much gameplay, the level is mostly based on details and things happening. I would of liked to add more things to do but once i got started making the house my level got more n more packed and i didnt have any room to add much more, so i left it as a simple walk through level.

I think JKThree likes to film levels - maybe send him a pm.

Played this last night and liked it. Lots of cool stuff going on in it.

+ The ghost effects are cool and varied. Liked that a lot
+ The camera idea was cool too.
+ Book cases platforming was the highlight for me
+ The 3d glitch is nicely used - especially the room with the fireplace
+ Music was cool although I'm not sure how it fits into the story
+ Liked the camera cut scenes

Other than a few areas that were less detailed than others (which you've already said was due to thermo issues) and some problems where the scale of the level changed in relation to sackboy I couldn't really find anything else I'd classify as problems. Nice work!

Many thanks for your feedback, thanks you for listing certain sections of the level you liked
The music "Hallejuah" was put at the end as if to say "thank god the spirits are gone HALLEJUAH!!" lol

Okay, I'm late yet again in getting around to playing this, but I wanted to wait until it was late at night and I could play it by myself. Yeah, it was awesome until I peed my pants. Seriously, this level is scary, and so a job well done Fender!

I thought the atmosphere was amazing. Splendid use of the 3D glitch, with all the details in the background, I felt like I was in an open space that was slowly closing in... (for example, the dining room and the bedroom). The moving chairs thing was indeed a great touch and the library/book case platforming was super fun as well.

I also thought having Hallelujah at the end was terrific. I always found that song pretty haunting (beautiful, but haunting) so when it started playing, it was oh so perfect in my mind.

Awesome level Fender! Absolutely loved it!

PS. Never really liked horror movies. I always wind up laughing and pointing out the things that really don't make sense.

Ugh I think my capture card is having brightness problems again

*sighs*
I look at levels like yours and despair I can only seem to produce the rubbish I do. Somewhere, between the pictures in my head and what comes out, something's going missing. Keep up the good work!
