Precise BG/Water Settings
Archive: 20 posts
Ok I don't know if I should have made a thread for this cause i'm certainly going to make a fool of myself, but never mind... (I don't even know if I'm in the right section for this) Everybody knows that, in create mode, we can tweak several aspects of water and background in the popit menu, by using the cross pad on the controller, to switch between some predefined steps (for example the water color : blue, green, yellow)... But I just discovered that you can move the setting cursor by using the right stick of the controller, and it allows to choose more precise or subtle settings! For example in the water color setting, if you move the cursor slowly between the blue step and the red step, you can get different shades of purple or pink...! Globally, you can choose almost all the colors pallets... And It works for every settings (fog, water level, background effects, etc...) It's really cool because I always thought those predefined steps were a little limited. I really hope that I'm not the last one to know this.... ....and that it will interest some other people .... ....... if not, please don't judge me.... | 2010-01-26 04:17:00 Author: dajdaj03 Posts: 1486 |
It's kind of surprising that some people don't know these things. But then again, Mm never told anybody. Who knows how many secret and small things there are like this. I recently discovered the when you are selecting a corner with the corner editing tool, you can push R1 and L1 to quickly move in-between corners. It's very helpful for big objects. | 2010-01-26 04:33:00 Author: warlord_evil Posts: 4193 |
lol... yeah suprising and even a little pathetic in my case... It's been 9 months I started creating, and I never noticed that...! But it was a good surprise though! | 2010-01-26 04:47:00 Author: dajdaj03 Posts: 1486 |

It was only after I had finished building my first level that I learned you can glue things in specific directions with the L2 and R2 buttons. Doh! | 2010-01-26 10:39:00 Author: Ungreth Posts: 2130 |

I think you can use the left stick aswell as the right, at least for some things if not all. Thanks for reminding me about the corner editor too warlord. I had read this before months ago but totally forgotten. I spent ages the other day trying to corner edit a big piece while going reaaaallllllyyyyyy sloooowwwwlllllyyyyy along all the edges. I wish I could remember stuff like this. I might get levels made in less than 6 months then LOL | 2010-01-26 13:00:00 Author: mistervista Posts: 2210 |

I knew this for quite a long time, it works with any kind of settings- very useful indeed! | 2010-01-27 11:28:00 Author: FuzzballFox Posts: 217 |
I recently discovered the when you are selecting a corner with the corner editing tool, you can push R1 and L1 to quickly move in-between corners. It's very helpful for big objects. It took me awhile to discover it too. The thing is it says so at the bottom of the screen whenever you edit corners. | 2010-01-27 12:32:00 Author: Syroc Posts: 3193 |
I knew about this already but i admit it took me a while. But don't feel like you're slow at finding things out some people are still asking How do you get water? lolz | 2010-01-28 21:58:00 Author: Doopz Posts: 5592 |
With the right stick? I've been doing things with the left stick for a while. Do the left stick and right stick work the same, or does the right stick do something slightly different (ie: it would be stupidly helpful to me to be able to go "half steps" on the sliders, a half step being in between the two notches where the dpad would normally take you to)? | 2010-01-28 22:14:00 Author: Mennenth Posts: 52 |

Didn't know this...i think i tried it with global controls, but not with water... i wish you had posted sooner...I would have saved myself a LOT of trouble on my level... | 2010-01-29 05:42:00 Author: Ragfell Posts: 729 |
I felt a little ridiculous about this thread, I thought to delete it, but as it helped two people, well I guess I'll keep it...! The left stick doesn't work in the global settings, so I never thought of using the right one... I discovered this by accident. I guess it happens sometimes not noticing something very obvious... | 2010-01-29 19:34:00 Author: dajdaj03 Posts: 1486 |
What do you mean by directions? Forward (into screen) and back (away from screen). You can also use the left analogue to glue up, down, left and right. | 2010-01-29 21:04:00 Author: Ungreth Posts: 2130 |
