Music - For Levels

Archive: 18 posts

MM needs to add a feature that allows you to use your own music in levels, would it not be great to listen to Death Metal, or Jazz, Blues or whatever you like...as long as it fits with the theme of the level of course.2010-01-25 15:42:00

I think there would be copyright issues with this. I think thats why we are supplied music.
But I do think it's a good idea i've always wanted to put my own music on my levels.

This has been suggested to death, and every time someone suggests it they get the same answers. Copyright infringement and possible abuse of the sysytem.2010-01-27 17:13:00

I once suggested that you could create a playlist and allow each specific LBP song to be replaced with a song on your playlist. This would only affect what you yourself hear. Everyone else would hear the LBP music.2010-01-28 06:33:00

I heard they are gonna' release a new kit with action hero related items such as stickers, props, decorations, and music. Here is one of my favorite that is probably gonna be in it.

Yes, it has already been mentioned that Copyright issues would be the main problems,

No. Three reasons:

Some songs may contain vulgar language
It would blow the thermometer to kingdom come
And finally, as pointed out, copyright issues

What we need is a real music editor (with staves, notes and samples etc.) to create our OWN music and integrate it into the game. An LBP music editor would be great and each song should be turned into a music player object (as those in the game) and placed in anywhere in the levels. That would be awesome.2010-01-31 14:03:00

You would have copyright issues and vulgar language

although they could have a thing where you could take approved songs from vidzone and put them into your level but that might be bad for the thermometer

Terbas's ideas not bad. They would have to make it good though cause i would hate to walk into a level with terrible music.2010-01-31 14:33:00

Yeah that would be really good, but… I don’t think it would fit the game that well.
What I mean is, in LBP you have to physically make everything from scratch using the basic tools that are there.

For example, if you want to make something follow you have to make a mechanism for it to do that… like with censor and three way switches and all that. You cant just set anything to “Follow”.
If they did start adding complex game making tools like that, I believe that LBP would lose its charm.

That being said, it would really be good… I’d like it, since I make music levels, lol.

Another suggestion though would be…
That you could set the speakers in the game to sound throughout the whole level. Ive made loads of music boxes and they work really well, the only problem though is making the music follow you. It eats up a lot of the thermometer and restricts the layout of the level.
If you could do what I said above, I think then we would start seeing a lot more made music in levels.

And now... We have a music editor in LBP2 (Moreover, it can be turned to an object that can be placed anywhere in the level ). It is nice to see that MM takes notice of users' ideas.

Yeah this would be prtty cool but it would never happen. Ive always wanted to make a level that went along eith tchaikovsky's piano concerto no 1 opus 23 (Bb minor ftw!)2010-10-01 00:25:00

Really??
that would be awesome, cause if been trying to create my own music (in little big planet) to suit my level,
i came up with really siple music boxes with very small loops, than i'd hide does between layers and voilla.
only problem is, for some reason the music stops after a while and i can't figure out why, but now that the're making a real music edditor for little big planet 2, that would make everything so much simpler

What would be nice is if the music player could play music in levels. I like listening to music while making a level, but if I'm actually playing one, I'd still want to listen to one of the songs in my PS3.2010-11-18 02:34:00

I took a look at it from beta videos, and it looks as if the only have normal sounds you can change the pitch of, so theres no need worrying that there will be death metal in loads of lbp levels, and probably the good levels will just have music that fits the level, so for instance when there's a level were you're in hell death metal would fit so you might find it. basic poin:: no worries, it will only make the good levels better, the bad levels though, there bad anyway so so will the music probably.
