The Aftermath

Archive: 5 posts

My idea is;

You are roaming around in a big place, where you can do lots of things, and there is a lot to explore. There will be several puzzles or platforms, which you can use to achieve what you want. In the end, you will have to wait to the next day.

And here the important part comes. The aftermath. Depending on what you did, The world will change.

For and example, if you helped an old lady across the street, and next day you would meet her again, she gives you some candy, and later on, you have to give a candy eating plant some candy to get to the world of magical plants.
This is just an example.

I am not sure how to do this, most if it will certainly be try and fail, as the logic will, at least I think it will, be a nightmare. I am hoping also hoping for that the thermo can keep up. I am aiming for as many different aftermaths as there are different colours you can tweak the magnetic key to be.

I am hoping you guys and gals can help me about what theme I should pick. I have different thoughts, and they all involve the same idea, but which one should I choose?

1: Idea number one is inside a medieval setting, with lots of magic, like elves and dragons, where you have to save the day (if the aftermath day can be saved).

2: Idea number two consists of a village, where a lot of weird things are going on, and you have to find out.

3:Idea number three is about a future city (or something like that) where an entire population just have disappeared ( a little like lost space, maybe), and you must find out what happened.

Any opinions?

I like idea 2, I think there's a lot of potential for a quirky, eerie atmosphere and could look much more original than a medieval setting. A Futuristic city could look good, but there's too much you can do that would just look 'generic'.

The logic doesn't have to be that complicated, but maybe I'm just underestimating the complexity you're going for. For example, the example you gave, with the old woman and the candy. If that event was entirely isolated, whether you help her across the road or not ONLY affects whether or not she gives you candy, then it would be very simple, and the entire level would be a series of completely isolated IF situations.
If however another indecent somewhere else will determine the type of candy she gives you, or if you fail to 'lock up a crazed murderer' she gets killed the next day before she can give you the candy( so you need to help her across the street AND lock up the murderer so you can get the candy), etc, if there's lots of relationships between these otherwise isolated IF situations, THEN it gets complicated.

Wow, you're a genius, Seraphor!!!

I assure you, you are not underestimating anything, but your more complicated example gave me a whole new piece of things to think about. When you put things that way, everything gets more interesting.

Thank you!!!

Just wondering, what does IF stand for?

Sorry, it's not an acronym, it just means If. XD
Like AND and OR switches, I just mean "if this happens, then that will happen".

Posted a poll, but I made it public, which was not what I meant to do, and now I can't figure out how to edit it... A little help, please?

@Seraphor:
Aha, how silly of me
