The Deceptive Spiral series

Archive: 4 posts

I published 3 levels so far that are a part of a five level series. There is a story involved, I don't want to get into to much detail with, and the fifth level being a boss battle against the antagonist. The first three levels take place in a vast ch?teau and last two, the ones I've currently working on, take place in a demon realm. The level order are as follows...

The Deceptive Spiral
The Deceptive Spiral: Oblivion
The Deceptive Spiral: Mundus Cereris
The Deceptive Spiral: The Demon World -Being made-
The Deceptive Spiral: Devil Empress Ab?me -Being made-

I plan on posting pictures soon. If you're interested, check them out.

Well I just played the first level, and here are some things I had trouble with.

1. I really don't see the point to the 20 stairs at the beginning of the stage. (I'm not a fan of pointless stairs.)

2. The button at the entrance should be a bit more obvious.

3. Your one NPC should be glued to the floor, and also uses language that has the potential to get you griefed.

4. I couldn't reach the hanging sponge at the large area with the spikes. Is there a way to lower it?

1. i figure someone wouldn't like that, but i didn't want most of the level too close to the ground. but at the same time, i thought that the stone path in the background itself was a nice touch for the level.

2. i was pretty obvious, but it implies something. the first NPC, Mika, assures you that the place is safe. but after you open the door and it closes on you, thus preventing you from leaving, it was supposed to give an feeling of uncertainty and indicates that what she says might not have been truthful. that's where the name comes from.

3. i was trying to keep the level from overheating and the character you're referring to was supposed to have a '*****-you-kind-of-attitude' while still looking out for the player. besides, she only uses the word once, but i may tone it down slightly. there is a story element to the levels i might add and the anger she has is based on that.

4. i'll take that into consideration and lower it. ...but not a lot of people had trouble with it...

Don't get me wrong, I didn't have a problem with the word, personally. I was just saying that you may get griefed. I'm actually surprised that the word "*******" wasn't a censored word in the game.

See? It's a censored word on the forum
