Where did all the Sharks survival level come from?

Well, a guy came up with one (that was almost good) and it took off madly. All people then copied the idea seeing that it was having some impressive success. You know human are copy-machines. They all want a part of the cake. Also, shark are like dragons and trains: it seems to be some universally "cool" thing.

Almost all levels on page 1 is shark survivals ! 1 shark survival was ok but 10! That's to much!!!!

The best is to not bother and to never play them. You "better cool page" is called "Level Showcase" anyways and its on this forum. Don't lose your time in "cool level pages" of the game.

Shark levels are like Bomb survivals; there's too many, and they get frickin' annoying. They look like a dying fad, though. It's like that one commercial: "They let everyone in so that the good ones don't stand out."... or something like that. I agree with Ranger; use Level Showcase if you want good levels.

Yeah i hate shark survivals! i hate survivals entirely!(some exceptions) when things like this come out creativity pretty much disappears from the "cool pages"

I think this Japanese creator gave away a shark that's shareable and the whole thing just kinda took off, the object itself is actually pretty clever and the levels are fun for the first half an hour like the bomb survivals were. In my opinion these are better than a bomb survival because they are much more addictive and faster and are good to play if you just have a couple of minutes to waste. They may be annoying but hopefully this could be the end of bomb survivals for now, only time will tell if I prefer this level craze more than the other I guess.

This Shark thing is no different to any other countless fads that LBP has had. No better and no worse. We've all played bomb survivals and shark survivals with curiosity. And then we've gone back to playing levels that will be remembered, yes? Here's what some creators on LBPC think of the shark trend, or any other trend for that matter. The tragedy of this fad may well be that the shark itself they are alll using is actually quite well designed. I got one and took it apart recently, and the tech is really very simple and could be used for alot of things. Hopefully people start breaking open those sharks and using it as an engineering lesson.

On a similar note, I found a crocodile survival level sitting near my level kicking my level's little tushi this morning (I had 1 play, it had about 30). I went in and tried to play it. The crocodiles got stuck and I was able to sit in the water indefinately collecting points.... I could have sat there and got a million points, but I really didn't want my PSN sitting at the top of the scores, so I exited.... It's definately tragic that the servers push levels up based on number of plays rather than unique players. I think pretty soon it's going to be just about impossible to reach page 1 with any kind of "non-cheap-survival" level.

Don't get me started on this. I hate them with a passion. I can't believe I spent 5 or 6 months of hard work on Sheriff Sack 2 and to finally finish and publish it, only to have these crappy shark levels come out immediately afterwards and totally obliterate mine. I can't believe they're getting over 100000 plays every day. What is wrong with people? I really hate the idiot who gave the shark away though ( some japanese guy called anminmakura or something ). If he hadn't done that this wouldn't be happening because the people who have released all these levels could never make one of their own in a month of sundays.

I like the person who gave away the shark, Distress in Ocean is an awsome level. Unfortunatly, Sir. Pancakes started this whole thing off, so he's to blame really (well, I think it was him, it's definatly an easy-to-remember name). I say some LBPC members create a level where H4Hers get eaten by sharks, blown up by bombs, glued to sinking floors and forced to reach the end of a race level (and then play another one, and see how they're all the same).

You alwayes have these fads, where a certian type of level get's really popular, really quickly, like "3D Levels", "Bomb Survivials" and "H4H Levels" But the good thing is that they don't last long. Shark Survivals will soon disapeer, or be combine with the other survivals. That is until someone figures out how to get a shark to blow up.... I liked the first one i tried. it was pretty tricky without being stupid difficulty (like bomb survivals), I liked it because of how smart it was, how it could get me so easily. Although, its not that clever. On SirPancakes level (the one i tryed first) I some how beached the shark upside down on the start area for a very long time I did hate the totally overkill one I played today, where a billion tiny and big sharks slaughter the poor sacky alive

i wander if it would be possible to fit the devices in a small package like a Parana and still function right. thing with aquatic trackers is you only need 3 jets and two prox switches, anyway a Parana section of a level would be a much more creative use of this simple technology

Well, the fact is it probably doesn't matter anyway.... even if the object hadn't gotten out, people would have created "sort-of" versions of it and tried to capitalize on the success of the level anyway (such as with the crocodile attack level). Besides, even if he DID give it away, he probably wouldn't have had to foresight to see this mess.

I thought that sirpancakes' level was really original with an impressively clever and diabolical shark to boot. It is just a shame that people are seeing it as a quick trophy. It cheapens it. I earned my create trophy after 2 weeks of making a survival challenge (iceberg one). Not 2 hours.

Theres actually been a spinoff that included pirhanas as well I actually thought that first shark level was really cool, i was impressed with its ability to track down the player relentlessly whilst still fair, but all the new ones that sprung up of bad quality has been annoying.
