Or you can just go to the tools bag and find the key you want and send it (all published level keys can be found there as if they are tools). Bam shazam wiggly bazasm!2010-01-23 16:02:00

It's good to know that if you send the key by LittleBigEmail, your friend won't be able to EVER erase that key. Permanent space will be taken in his/her profile.

What you can do so this does not happen is make the person collect the key in a level. You can put up a lock level, the person opens the lock and take the key. They will then access your level but no permanent space is taken on their profiles.

Do they get overwriten when a new level is published? Im sure that I had about 6 keys from other people that have now gone after publishing 20 levels at once. Ill have to check when I get home.2010-01-23 18:51:00

Nope, they don't. They just become blank, unusable keys in your popit after that person deletes the level. Maybe that's what you saw.

Capturing a key attached to something else (not sure if that's necessary) and then sending it allows the friend to collect the key on one of their own levels, without it being stored in their keys section.

Very useful.

Me, I just use a key room. I even give one away.

I’ve sent and received keys a lot before, they need to be put in a uploaded level to work.
If you only want certain people to access the level, the best way to do it is to put the key in the level itself, then invite the person you want it to unlocked for.

I once was helping a friend out with something they were making, but they still need to be able to edit it once I had done what I needed to do to it, If I would have captured it and sent it… they wouldn’t have been able to. This was before online create, so the only way was for them to copy the level. But they didn’t want any body else to get it, so had to lock it and use a key. The only way the key seemed to work was by doing what I said above.

So don’t be surprised when sent and received keys don’t work.

And yeah, Ive got like six blank keys… I thought theyd be good to use as an objective in a level. You know like collect the key to open the door sort of thing.

The best solution really is to use a key room if you don't mind using up one of your level spaces. This way it's easy to mass-distribute a locked level if the need arises, and your friend gaining access is as simple as giving them the code. There are some great key rooms out there, including some by v0rtex2002, rtm223, and myself.2010-01-24 03:43:00
