Help Me Choose My Destiny (Or Demise)

Archive: 12 posts

I have caught the YLOD, and I seem to have noticed that fixing a PS3 cost a big wat of cash. So I think I might just buy a new system. But the thing is, I heard Sony were real jerks, and I'm starting to slowly wonder away from them. So now, I come to a two way problem of two choices:

What should I do?

Get The PS3 Fixed

Pros:
Big old buddy reunion, all my files back in place, I get my Modern Warfare 2 back, and a chance to back up my data.

Cons:
The Customer Service rip-off price of over $150 dollars.

Buy A New PS3 Slim

Pros:
New skinny design, less of a space taker, bigger memory, low price, and new warranty.

Cons:
My data is gone forever, Sony wins in the "Let's make them buy a new system" game, my old Modern Warfare 2 will be stuck in my old PS3, and 2 less USB ports.

So I really want my PS3 fixed, but I'm looking into something that I can actually play and know that if it's breaking down, I can fix it. That and, I can't help but feel that I need to "upgrade" my gaming by buying a new system.

So give me your thoughts, and I'll try to be persuaded into which ever one you guys think is best.

Peace

Fix it. Here's my reasons:

1. Heckuva-lot cheaper.
2. You keep your old data.
3. You have $150 left to spend on yourself.
4. Most accessories only work on the older PS3, so...
5. No having to go through ALL the updates again.
6. Your PSN is saved.
7. I'll shoot ya if you get a Slim. :kz:

There's my reasons.

I think Jack got it pretty good. If the only con for fixing it is the price, then really, compared to buying a NEW PS3, it's actually a pro.2010-01-25 00:27:00

Ya, but if my old PS3 is fixed, the warranty is still expired, and it's still 60GB less than a PS3 Slim, and trust me, I use a lot of GBs.2010-01-25 00:40:00

get it fixed i say.
I mean why does it matter if it is slim or not? its not like you look at your system as you play it will run the same as the fat one

@Snrm
True, but it's the fact that I need more space in my shelf. My old bulky PS3 barely fit, so that's why I saw the Slim's smaller size as a pro. But ya, I'm leaning more on fixing my old PS3.

I'd say fix it...you can always back up your older saves to a drive and clear up more memory...or delete some of your music and movies.

How do you even check how much memory you've used?

I bought a new one. I went through 5 60GBs before though, so I didn't really trust the repair service.2010-01-25 14:29:00

If you're concearned about storage space, get an external hard-drive and plug it in via USB.

Oh, and the gun I'm talkin about, yeah... you'd regret asking.
