Metroid: Sack & Space Pirates RELEASED! (Easter Egg Included!)

Archive: 21 posts

Hey, I'm Spark151

I finally released the new metroid level
With two bosses only >_>, Metroid Prime and Chozo Warrior Engrave

I would've added two more bosses and put a better ending, but my thermometer became full
other than that the level is great

Easter Egg:
Some of you may have noticed, but you never received the "Metroid" item (jelly fish like creature)
You're probably wondering, "Why didn't the creator give us the "Metroid" item"
I did :]
The only thing is, I made it an easter egg in the level :] (Just like the Metroid Games, they hide items)
So if you want the "Metroid" Item, go look for it.

Here's your hint:
It's in the room that's dark green with points on the floor!

Heart me and thx!

Your preview is awesome - I really like it so far. It has the all the same Metroid goodness and attention to detail as your last level, so keep doing exactly what you're doing. 5 stars and a heart, and this time a creator heart as well. Can't wait to see the finished product. 2010-01-24 18:56:00

Oh, I forgot to add: In the room with the 4 appearing icons, I was able to get the sponge lift stuck on the ledge above and fell back down by accident. Broken level alert! 2010-01-25 04:37:00

The "Metroid: Sack & Space Pirates" is finally released.
I'm sorry if it took awhile, and yes, the level is not the best at the end, because my thermometer became full.
Sorry, but I had a real problem with emitters, and I began to have a pain creating the level 0.o
If my thermometer didn't bnecome full, I would've made a better ending

overall, still a great level to play

enoy the level and heart me, thx

So some feedback for your level:

It looks really good and there are much different areas so it wont get boring. Some places are a little empty but i think this is cause you ran out of thermo. There a Pillar made out of yellow glass thats in front of some stairs, is it intended to be dynamic? I could make it fall and pushed it around...
There are places where a sound object would be needed. For example to let the player now he hit the button right in the chamber with the bones.
Some camera angles wont let the player see where to jump. (When you get out of the temple and have to jump the fire and inside the creature)
When i first ran into the black smoke i died by the little boss that follows me after that only by running underneath it. After that the chase worked fine. (Maybe the creature could be a bit faster)
I think a little more textboxes with some more story would be nice. I didnt always know why i did what i did.

I know this all may sound hard, but i really liked your level and gave it 4,5 (5) stars. But some fine tuning would be nice

Alrighty, I gave this level a play today. As I said in my feedback for your previous Metroid level, I absolutely love Metroid, so I may be a bit more critical than most other people are. First of all, your character models are incredible, and they are probably the reason that your thermo is running out like it is. It is too bad that the level needs to suffer because of the awesome characters.

The Metroids look fantastic. I actually had to just stop and look at them when I saw them at the start of the level. I can't believe what an incredible job you did with them. Awesome stuff I was also happy with the great job that you did with the boss that you shoot with the cannon. Sure, it wasn't all that hard to beat him, but it was unique, and didn't only involve bubble popping like all of the bosses did in your first Metroid level.

My issue with the level is that this one actually felt a lot less like Metroid then the last one did. My favorite thing about the first level was just how much the level felt like the start of a Metroid game. I mean, you perfectly captured it. By the end of the previous level, it began feeling less and less like a Metroid game. This level didn't really feel much like Metroid to me at all except for the character models. There were some parts where you had the fog and something crawling behind it where I really felt like it was Metroid, but there just weren't many moments like that.

I have an odd question for you, do you have LBP on PS3? It just seems that these levels would work SOOOOOO much better on PS3 since you have the paintanator on there! You may already have adaptations on PS3, I have no idea since I haven't had a PS3 for 4 months, but your awesome ideas just had me thinking. I figured, with a paintanator, you could make an all out Metroid level. Heck, you could even remake part of Super Meteroid, see how people liked it, and if it does well you could try to see how much of the game you could reproduce.

In all honesty though, I don't really want to discourage you from making levels on PSP, because I am really enjoying these Metroid levels! Have you considered remaking an old Metroid game on PSP? Maybe actually sticking to the level design? You would probably have to cut back on detail on the creatures, but I still think it would be fantastic. Obviously, you'd have to think of some way to work out the morph ball parts, and maybe that would be what would inhibit you from doing it, but if you could think of something, then it could be crazy awesome

Keep up the awesome work, and I will look forward to seeing what you come up with next

thx, and i wont work on a next metroid level in awhile cuz im in the mood of creating something different

I have played LBP on the PS3, i made a few levels on the ps3, but were okay... pretty bad tho
I dont make lots of levels on ps3, cuz unfortunately, i have to share the ps3 with my family
and my psp, is all to myself

i dont have much time to go on ps3, so i decided to get lbp for psp
its not the same, thats for sure.
But i still find ways to create good levels

if you play my levels on ps3, they wont be as good...

Sorry if you felt like it was less in the metroid mood, i thought it did a little bit too

I edited the first post, for easter egg, but if you don't want to read the first post, I'll post the easter egg here too

Totally awesome! It's everything that was cool about your first Metroid level, just more of it. Your formula worked great on the first one, and I'm glad you didn't fundamentally change anything for this one. I see that a lot of people are saying this is less Metroid-ish, but having never played the game I didn't notice - I thought everything was great. As before, terrific use of stickers and amazing corner editor work combine very nicely to create a wonderful atmosphere. You also did a great job varying the music, the backgrounds, the puzzles... Everything.

I really don't have any complaints. It would have been nice if the level was longer, but that's not up to you. 5 stars and hearted! Creator heart happened already, NO SOUP FOR YOU!
