Probably not very useful, but still very cool.

Wow, they can make a holographic generator, but no sound to their video?

Well anyways, that's amazing! Good find Gigamesh! Now if only they used the PS3 remotes, I think that'll do wonders.

I don't want concave mirrors, I want projectors :/

Still, though, very cool.

That's really cool. But like Astro said, our sci-fi-based dreams are still rolling. 2010-01-23 00:47:00

Meh, that could easily have been scripted. Ever noticed his hand? Yeah, only moved when he hit something (that could've easily been a repeating reel). Plus, the objects also phased through his hand; wow, so revolutionary.

Once they can make holophones like the one in Star Wars, THEN I might be interested.

Ive seen a short segment were a guy demonstrates his theory using actual projected holograms and these crazy mechanical glove like objects, what they made is basically a ps eye with some " 4D " effects, grats your now were universal studios was a long time ago 2010-01-23 02:46:00

What would be the point of that? The technology for the vision system and the holography isn't too hard to create, and isn't even the focus of the study, so why would they fake that bit?

Best info I can actually find is a one-page abstract (http://www.alab.t.u-tokyo.ac.jp/~siggraph/09/TouchableHolography/SIGGRAPH08_abst.pdf) on this. Really should go to the effort of geting my IEEE membership back....

I'm still waiting for my holographic virtual keyboard. Very cool showcase. When I saw the raindrops I thought of paintballs in LBP.2010-01-23 16:31:00
