Need a little help with a wall climber....
Archive: 10 posts
Hi everybody! *Hi doctor nick* http://i557.photobucket.com/albums/ss13/theamilien_photo/Untitled-1-1.jpg I'm trying to make a wall climbing device like this (reds are pistons and blacks are the material). But im having a little trouble. I'm not sure how to get the pistons moving corectly. Can it be done by just messing with the sync settings? Or do i need some logic? Thankies in advance for any help ![]() | 2010-01-21 18:38:00 Author: theamilien ![]() Posts: 485 |
Can it be done using piston timing settings and sync? Maybe, I'd have to tinker. Is logic a better alternative? I think so. If I understand your diagram correctly, you need to set up a program loop that retracts the top feet when the bottom feet are extended and the body pieces are in closed config. When the top feet are retraced the body separates and extends the top feet again. Then when the top feet are extended and the body is in open config, retract the bottom feet and close the body up again. It seems simple enough. I'm kinda intriged to see how it works out. | 2010-01-21 21:25:00 Author: Thegide ![]() Posts: 1465 |
You could definitely do it with piston timings, but it'll take a fair bit of planning (or trial and error) to get it right and of course if you decide you want to tweak timings it will mean messing with quite a few settings just to make a basic change. I actually had technolegs running with no logic, but would pretty much die if you tried to start and stop it! | 2010-01-21 21:30:00 Author: rtm223 ![]() Posts: 6497 |
I made a wall climber for CC08...07...one of them...any way it uses that same climbing method. Check out the level and see if you like it, if you do I'll send you the object or invite you into create with me because I'm not going to use it for anything. | 2010-01-21 23:33:00 Author: adlingtont ![]() Posts: 321 |
Wow if you could send me it that would be great ![]() ![]() | 2010-01-22 16:23:00 Author: theamilien ![]() Posts: 485 |

I should try that out. You need to make the wall rubber so that it can latch on. I recommend rubber squares on pistons as well. | 2010-01-22 16:37:00 Author: Richasackboy ![]() Posts: 619 |
You would need alot going on off screen though. | 2010-01-22 16:39:00 Author: Emogotsaone ![]() Posts: 1030 |
Alright I'll make the level copyable tonight. That would be easiest. | 2010-01-22 18:16:00 Author: adlingtont ![]() Posts: 321 |
