Making a "tap" switch
Archive: 9 posts
Is there a way to make a switch that triggers when a sackboy touches an object? I don't think there's one in the game and i haven't a clue how to make one, i thought about using a sackboy sensor but that would only work for roughly round objects. | 2010-01-19 19:58:00 Author: RCIX Posts: 250 |
a grabble object with a grab swich on it maybe? how will he touch it? by jumping on or walking into...if its jumping on i got another idea. make a red button and make it as small as you can....then attach its wire to what you want it on. then make two thin flat peices of material. and put them either side of the button...then make some walls the same hight at either end. then make a light matieral and place it on the button, but it shouldnt press down if its just resting on it. if you wanted any particular matierial just photograph it and place the photo on the light material. so when you jump on it, it should press on it being a hidden switch....if its an actual object and not a block you want to touch...then this may not work... | 2010-01-19 20:01:00 Author: Xegethra Posts: 207 |
I was hoping for any kind of touch, but i suppose a jump switch could be quite useful too. Interesting idea! | 2010-01-19 20:07:00 Author: RCIX Posts: 250 |
You could use the tap/grab switch and just not program in a grab? | 2010-01-19 20:10:00 Author: ButterflySamurai Posts: 98 |
tap/grab switch? what's that? i think i remember seeing something about it in sigs before i registered but i don't remember who... | 2010-01-19 20:21:00 Author: RCIX Posts: 250 |
I don't think that would help, you still need to detect impact, the tap-grab mechanism would allow you to detemine between momentary impact and prolonged contact. Best you can really do is use the hard angles of proximity sensors and an AND gate to detect sackboy in very close proximity to the object. | 2010-01-19 20:25:00 Author: rtm223 Posts: 6497 |
That's probably the best solution. I bet it's a pain but it should work! Thanks for the help guys. | 2010-01-19 20:29:00 Author: RCIX Posts: 250 |
