LBP in 3D

Archive: 17 posts

I'm not sure if there already is a thread for this (LBP and 3D are two of the many words the search engine doesn't respond to...), but anyway there was a demonstration at Evolution Studios last weekend where they, amongst other games showed of LBP running in 3D. Mind you, it was only a video but by the sounds of it it is quite helpful when trying to discern on what layer you are actually on.

Yes, obviously. If I meant the layer glitch I would have said so. 2010-01-19 16:53:00

Yeah Sony used GT5 and LBP to demonstrate the benefits from stereoscopic imagery. The PS3 will be make compatible with such display modes through a firmware update.2010-01-19 17:26:00

I'm hoping we won't need a new TV for LBP since the game runs at 30 fps. If the molecules could please let us know one way or the other? Just going to say good luck to Sony and their 3D sales. Good luck!2010-01-19 17:46:00

You will need a new TV capable of producing the required images to get this 3D effect, not to mention 3D 'shutter' specs.
It's not about the game running at a certain fps, but the TV being capable of producing two images at 100Hz at the same time or something along those lines.

The firmware can still produce two flickering images on a 120hz TV. At least my pc monitor software did. Not that this has anything to do with LBP but maybe there's some games that won't require a brand new TV.2010-01-19 18:20:00

Just read up on it... or better yet a video...

The 3d galsses aren't the red/blue ones, nor are they the ones you get at the cinema either, they are shutter 3d specs that you need.

Actually LBP is a 2.5 game...
I really don't see why you would spend $2000 on a new TV and most likely another $200 for the glasses, and only wen a hand full of games will support it.

Is there really something called 2.5D? Isn't that just a term for 3D sidescroller?2010-01-20 17:18:00
