Hey and welcome! As for your question - if you really need to ask and you are really asking here, you should give up on the idea immediately. You may as well walk into a bar in Alaska and ask how to make money from flamingos. Since I know young people (which, I am guessing includes you) are extremely hard headed, my guess is you will not be satisfied with that answer. I will instead give you one piece of good advice in the form of some statements and one equally good piece of advice in the form of a question. If you want to start your own business, you need to have a plan (and if you are getting it from someone else, it is going to be deficient in that you could not have thought of it and your execution of it is likely to be fairly bad) and you need investment. You can turn some ideas around on a dime if you have the talent and the know how. Take this site. You could (instead of using vBulletin) use something you made yourself. Cost free. You would need a domain name. $10 max per year. Since this site is our case study, generic free hosting would not cut it. The ads are always hideous and they would not handle the number of users that this site does. However, there are cost friendly options. Google App Engine for one. Of course, for this one there is a (non-monetary) requirement that you know at least one programming language - Python or Java, at least one markup language html or Xhtml, and we will tag on CSS and Javascript as well. Of course, if you are familiar with Java or Python, Javascript and CSS will not give you trouble. So, there you have it, a website that will handle millions of users for less than $10 a year. Of course, since you will not be copying this site, you will need a revenue model - to turn page views into cash flow, methods (plural!) of generating those page views, the time and effort to execute the idea and a fairly competent design to complement the whole thing. Let us not forget that your site would also need to be about something. Of course, it requires you to have talents of your own that you can contribute in place of start-up costs (I will not ask what you are willing to invest - since you asked here, I have to assume it is minimal) so I ask you this - What talents do you have? From your introduction, I cannot really tell. Introduce yourself more! I did not mean to type such a long reply, but here it is. Hope that helps, or at least leads to a reply that does.
