Remote camera scenes
Archive: 4 posts
I have seen a few levels where the player seems to activate a speech bubble but the camera for its cut scene whizzes miles off somewhere else to view a "cut scene" of sorts. Am I being dumb but as far as I remember you can only move the camera for a speech bubble cut scene only so far? Can anyone confirm if this is so, or is there another way a camera can be "activated" without the player being in the immediate vicinity. I think that then the camera can be put on a piston or whatever and scroll wherever u want? I have heard u can put an electrical wire onto a camera but my attempts so far have not worked. Help! The way I would do it is to activate a magic mouth by triggering a switch. So for example, when entering a room (prox), grabbing an object (grab) or pushing a block into position (mag) you activate a magic mouth on the other side of the level, causing the camera to zoom over there and then back again once you cancel the cut scene. The only problem with this method is that you have to include some kind of text in your cut scene, even if it's just an exclamation mark, because a magic mouth with an empty speech bubble won't activate. It might be possible to do this with a camera, but my attempts have not been successful so far. | 2010-01-18 11:12:00 Author: Ungreth Posts: 2130 |
Hmm that sounds like a good plan - have seen those speech bubbles without much text - so thats the reason why. Thanks for the helpful advice! | 2010-01-18 11:31:00 Author: Catseyez Posts: 68 |
Once upon a time I wrote a tutorial about doing this: Cinematic control (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=9218-Cinematic-control-using-magic-mouths-Do-s-and-Don-ts&highlight=cutscenes+magic) If you need to make complex cutscenes where the camera is jumping around, you'll need to try the "mine cart" strategy to sequentially activate and deactivate mouths in order. Queued messages offscreen like to disappear if you don't read quickly. The cart removes the queuing altogether. | 2010-01-18 15:20:00 Author: Thegide Posts: 1465 |
