Mass Effect 2

Archive: 12 posts

Anyone else looking forward to this game? I loved the original so I'm looking forward to this releasing at the end of the month. I got the original on PC (which apparantly improved on 360 version) so I can't wait to play the hopefully superior verion of ME2 on PC 2010-01-17 23:38:00

I am looking forward to it immensely, but I don't want a single thing about it to be spoiled, so I'm not going to be hanging around in thead after this post.

That being said, some quick opportunities to make sure everyone is aware of.

There are 2 different pre-order bonuses. One is GAMESTOP, and the other is AMAZON. Highly recommend people pre-ordering from one of these two locations. They will each give you some unique content - and to make sure it's clear, they each give different content.

There is an iPhone app out right now, Mass Effect: Galaxy. Completing the iPhone game unlocks actual-game, unique content as well.

If you bought a new version of Dragon Age - you get unique content for that too. If you're planning to pick up bother ME2 and a new copy of Dragon Age, pick up Dragon Age first - you get unique content that way.

There is ALSO unique content for getting the collector's edition, of course.

I would love to play the game, but I won't buy a 360 only for this and Gears, and my PC isn't pimped enough.
If EA is smart and release this game, and even the first, Multiplat, I will stay awake to buy it day one at minute one.
But, as it is now...NO WAY!

jan 26 can't come soon enough. ME1 was brilliant, and I can't imagine Bioware has let the quality slip. So much for any free time at the end of the month...2010-01-19 18:27:00

Im getting it off Steam, so I get the same deal as Amazon But gamestop looks like its better D:

Also, I tried the ME:G app, and I hated it. I may try and beat it for the content, but I don't know...

But yeah, looking forward to this. Still haven't beaten the first game, and theres no chance I will in time, because I don't want to rush it.

I fairly recently bought the first one off of Steam to play through (I don't have a 360). All I can say is:

HOLY CRAP.

Why didn't anyone make me buy this earlier? This game was amazing!! Exploring the different worlds in the Mako... The amazingly engaging story. Pretty much the only thing I didn't like about it was the creepy mannequin people. Everyone looked like mannequins. Some of the secondary characters had some... character... but the main party, with the exception of Wrex, are sorely lacking in the personality department. That's nothing about the voice acting, which is alright - but the faces and animation. Wooden, creepy. They went the super-realistic route, but they ended up with these mannequin dolls instead of anything like real people.

Shepherd was the worst too. I understand that he's got to be something of a chameleon because the gamer decides his character... But come on. Dude was made of wood. I'm wishing I played as a female because maybe she would have had a bit more personality.

But even then, all the women have the same proportions - thin, busty barbie dolls. Shepherd is as muscly and fit and "perfect" as you can get. They'll do things like texture skin with blemishes, but they won't go so far as to make anyone actually look real. I think that's a major shame. I hate this about games. Let a 3D modeller model a character and you can bet it's going to be a perfect doll-like sculpture.

Okay, complaints out of the way... The story was so incredibly engaging. I won't spoil anything here, but I will just say that it gets better and better and better. It's epic. They're not afraid to "change things" as you go. The galaxy is a different place at the end than it was at the beginning. The climax was incredible, in fact the last 2 missions were incredible. I just loved it. Better than most MOVIES I saw last year. I loved the Syd Mead style design and Blade-Runner esque intro, and I LOVED the music.

So I've preordered the sequel on Steam and am pretty psyched. Although the story from what I've seen in trailers and promo material seems a bit... disappointing, but I'm holding out hope that it's going to be big, full of twists and exciting storytelling.

:O Teebonesy has Steam! (Can I add you?)

And I do agree with the characters, they didn't talk much, and when they did they had no personality. (Sept Wrex, he was awesome!)

I'm dying to get my hands on it, but as it stands right now, my 360 is a paperweight, so I'm gonna have to rough it out for a while before I can play it. Shame too, the first game was effing amazing.2010-01-20 06:25:00

I sold my 360 for an ipod touch in 2008. I like my new ipod but I can't play ME 2

I thought it was best, because I can't make much time for playing video games. It was fun. I agree that the characters could have had better personalities. I mean especially Kaiden. I was so excited to see how the romance would turn out. Well, he's very uh I rather dump him for Wrex. Still, despite that and the barren environments it was a fun sci-fi game. I'm going to miss out on the sequel. :-(

anyone wants to add my steam it's ryryryan feel free to, I lack steam friends! And I don't know any pc gamers in person lol

But yeah once my exams are over on the 27th I'm gunna get just totally obliterated, then recover from a hangover with some ME2, then the missus comes down and I have a nice weekend, then she goes and I take my time completing ME2 and playing shattered horizon. And one of my fave bands releases an album and lost starts back up beginning feb! Then Alien vs Predator comes out, at which point I will be addicted to that!! Can't wait for that game. But yeah, right now I got exams to revise for /lifestory

I just saw this game in action at a friend's house yesterday. It's gorgeous... it's Sci-Fi... what more could I ask for? I love the idea of your previous saved game from the first Mass Effect effecting the story in the second game. The travel from solar system to system reminded me of Star Trek. The cut scenes were amazing. I'm getting this game as soon as I get a new PC in the next month.2010-01-31 13:39:00
