My First Level: Perennial Danger by Jackofcourse.

Archive: 24 posts

I've been meaning to do this for a while but just never got around to it. I've published my very first level for a limited time only. This was literally the very first thing I made in LBP way back in the first week.

Thought a few of you may be interested to take a look at it just to see how far I have fallen!

Hope you 'enjoy'!

Omg How strange! This'll be a hoot to see how much Jack has grown up. I bet it's better than Doctor Who....2010-01-17 22:06:00

OMG!!1!! Jack published an old level! Gotta check it out really soon! I am intriged since this was made before flaming timberland, which was already better than anything I ever could have published at that time.2010-01-18 02:49:00

Hmm, the level shows up as locked for me. Is there another level I have to finish first?2010-01-18 04:16:00

Ohhh stupid me! It's still locked! Will unlock right now! They really need to put some kind of indication on the icon on whether you have your levels locked or not!

EDIT: Unlocked now

I enjoyed what I played!
I kept dying at the part where you have to transfer from that one moving ball on the coil to the one on the piston (idk how to describe it) so I kind of gave up and was too lazy to start over.

:star::star::star::star::star: - Because it's good for a first level and is still better than some of my existing ones!

If you like Zelda games you can try my Zelda level:

Well yes, but this is full of electricity and luck-based swinging and jumping.
Besides the level has walls that can swallow you. :O

Luck based!? You clearly just don't have the skillz my friend!

Nah seriously, what part are you referring to because it shouldn't be that difficult?

The part that someone mentioned earlier with the sponge spring that you have to meet with the one on the piston can be tricky...but it only about timing the movement on the spring, it shouldn't be too difficult.

Walls that can swallow you? What what?

Can't find the image anymore but I once was trapped in a wall after falling down a chute. I think it was shortly after the sponge spring section, for which my skillz are apparently not good enough. 2010-01-18 20:21:00

Ooooh I remember that! Wow that was a long time a go!

That was actually a crazy one off game glitch as oppose to my fault in any way

My creation skills are still not good enough to stop you fazing through walls

I would but my computer has no RAM because NewEgg messed up my RMA!

Oh, Jack this is great, I mean this is that same high quality standard that you keep. This must have been the best level in the first week of LBP! I wish you would keep it up more than a week though, I might want to play it later.

haha, i got stuck in the wall too... it was baffling! it was a glitch, huh? i assumed it was more shoddy jackofcourse craftsmanship. tee hee.

this level was adorably ugly, but it still had a lot of brilliant gameplay bits. you're a savant, man.

Wow - you certainly were into hard platforming Jack! Yikes!

Well, I'm proud I made it up your round glass bits myself. I did play it with jwwphotos and he got stuck in the wall after that fall as well. Nice of you to share your first steps with us too.

I cannot believe the ingenuity of this week one level. I have never seen that use of elastic before (the switch). Also the style, whilst a bit random, fits. A really fun level!2010-01-19 07:51:00

Nice gameplay (difficult? wussies!), but I'm glad you took a crash course in color coordination before you started on Flaming Timberland.

Thanks for sharing this.

haha thanks everyone!

There must be something about that wall then, very strange glitch!

The fauvism style is crazy I know, but there's something about it that I quite like haha.

haha Morgana I don't think it was about liking hard platforming, I think it was a severe case of 'I can do it, it should be fine for everyone else'. What you're playing there is a massively easier version than the one in the first week. All the spinning stuff was at least twice as fast, if not more.

The two things that I still like in that now: The rockets (obviously the idea more than the designed) and the elastic puzzle!
