Til' Kingdom Come

Okay so roughly 6 days before schedule I have finally published what is easily my most favourite level, Til' Kingdom Come.
It's a platformer based off the success of my high 4 star level THE ONE.
In this level I feel I have used every skill that I've learnt since my very first creation and have reaped a great looking, smooth playing platformer that will give the extra professionalism to make it the blessed 5 stars.
I have also tried my hand at making my first ever boss and feel that it has gone swimmingly.
I would love some feedback (if possible ), because I feel that this is my stamp-of-a-level that says
'YOU KNOW WHAT, THAT DRADEN KID IS FREAKING AWESOME'

liked: -good intro. sets the mood and shows how you'll have to fight the big evil that torched your village
the treasure chests. I remember trying to get a treasure chest to look like that during the original beta... wasn't fun.
some good puzzles - especially the one where you shoot a button and try to outrun the boulder to a platform.

could improve: good intro never pays off - I'm generally a fan of levels without enemies and characters, but your intro made the case for the necessity of them in the level. it felt like "oh look, big evil killed my family... let's go explore!"
inconsistent visuals - a lot of your level looks really nice. then you'll get the random pieces that seem like they were put in last minute - random rectangle pieces that seem out of place where they are. also, seems like you could have done something to enhance the look of the buttons / switches.
the boss - decent idea, but needs some tweaking. as long as a player can get in close early on, none of the boss' attacks can hit you. maybe change up the attack patterns or put something in to prevent this from being a possibility.

overall, cool stuff dude.

I had a great time with this level. I enjoy a good platformer with a few puzzles thrown into the mix. Great visuals and overall gameplay. I anxiously await the follow up.2010-01-19 19:44:00

I to had a great time playing this level but as i killed the boss i was unsure as to what to do next, I had to hop around and even got hung up in some invisable matter but I found the swithch that takes you to the top but had to hunt for it.....but KILLER LEVEL 5 stars man.2010-01-20 02:53:00

the buttons and switches, the arrow signs didn't match the over all look. early on, every time there's a vertical barrier, there's just a random rectangular piece of rock that shoots straight up. later on there are some trees he made that serve the same purpose, but really add to the level. really random circular rocks that the 3 elastic grabbable circles are on. visible dissolve at the first shooting section. random jetpack to move the player 1 floor up.

all really nit-picky stuff... but i figured that f4f is for helping people perfect their levels. these are all super fixable things, and if draden decides to fix them, you'd be hard pressed to find a fault in the level.

Great stuff! I will get working on the visuals as I can understand in some areas, i presume I have to leave feedback on a level of yours on LBP so expect that soonish. And the boss was my first so expect a few updates on that as well, keep it coming guys

Alright, this was a very good level. I liked the story, the setting, the platforming the puzzles. Everything was very good. I gave it 5 stars and a heart. There were a few changes I think you could make that would make your level even better though.

- I think a few (just a few) regular enemies would add more danger to the story. The intro gets you all pumped up to fight something but then there is nothing to fight. By the end, I forgot about the story.

- Close to the beginning there is a spot where you jump on a spring board, grab a sponge and go to the right. To your right is a yellow ball that you grab on to and slide along the wall to get to a button on the far side. I had two issues with this area. 1. On that green swinging ball, if you take it to the left (instead of right) you can see the "edge of your level" and you will fall through the floor. 2. If you let go of that yellow ball that slides along the wall you will die and there is no way to get the ball back to where you can reach it. I had to start the level over because of that bug. I would attach the yellow ball to a winch and put a grab sensor on the ball that way if you aren’t grabbing the ball, it will pull the ball back to the left where you can reach it.

- The boss fight was too easy. If you ran in close and got under it you could kill it no sweat. Try adding something there so you can’t get in close. The visuals of the boss were good, whatever he shoots at you looked cool (he only shot 3 at me before I killed it) but it was over too quick. I think this was the first boss that I’ve fought that I didn’t die on. Not even once.

- After the boss, the elevator that takes you up wasn’t very noticeable. At first I thought it was a death pit so I jumped over it and ran into an invisible wall (and I could see a tiny square of dark matter) so I went back to the left and as I passed the checkpoint I noticed something rising up into the ceiling. I later figured out that it was the door but at first I thought it was a sponge that I was supposed to grab and ride so I sat and waited for it to come back down. After a while I gave up and went farther left and the screen went totally black. Then I came back right jumped in the hole thinking it would kill me but then the elevator started to rise. I think the elevator needs to be at floor level so people don’t jump over it and replace the button with a motion sensor so the player can’t possibly miss it.

Those are my suggestions; it was still 5 stars and a heart for me though. For the F4F check out my Sig below.

Great review thanks,
obviously the sponge ball obstacle needs fiwing in that aspect so I'll get onto that now.
I have fixed some of the details that Mr Radical noticed so thanks for that.
I understand that the boss is rather easy so in time I will improve him difficulty wise and if my thermometer allows it (already brimming) I will add some general enemies where possible.

Ok i tried it again, but a few problems i report:

Just after the ladder, you can see some dark matter if you go right some.

In the part where you fall down into a cage of some sort, i fell in the cage but my firend didn,t and had to continue without me.

Just after the boss battle, my firend get stuck on an invisible wall just to the right of the lift and subsequently dies trying to get past it.

Still got 5 stars from me!

The level hasn't really taken off so far so I have been learning some tricks of advertisement as well and touchwood below will be a link to a youtube vid just to show you how epic the level is before you ignore it

I also noticed that you offer an Aced prize, but you have a death teleport at the end of your level, and some of your prizes aren't names,

hello again,
TKC is still suffering from low hits and 4 stars syndrome and could do with some mega feedback because I've just been shocked at how naf the busiest page is and I want to break into it again, so here's a video of the level, if you like the look of the vid please have a go on LBP, I can PROMISE you this is a great game and you won't be disappointed.
