Is Moderation still an issue in LBP?

Archive: 27 posts

I'm planning on getting a PS3 and LBP over the next couple of months as I come up with the money, as such I was wondering, is the off-the-wall moderation still an issue online?2010-01-16 20:44:00

Mostly for *******-levels that make some people jealous. Don't worry about it until someone moderates your level.2010-01-16 21:06:00

Could somebody coherently answer my question? I'm on the fence about the PS3 and LBP and this issue could tip me either way.2010-01-16 21:38:00

Levels rarely get moderated. There was an issue about a few levels with hundreds of thousands of plays getting moderated because a bigger number of kids reported them, but if your level doesn't have over-the-top violence or hundreds of thousands of plays along with bad luck, than you should be safe.

And a PS3 with LBP is the ultimate choice of awesomeness, so you shouldn't let moderaration get in the way of the most customizable and creative game in history

Is there a way I could get more responses from the rest of the community?2010-01-17 18:21:00

It's very rare your level gets moderated and if it does i'm pretty sure if you have a copy of it you can just re-publish it. But yeah you will live the rest of your life in regret if you don't buy a ps3 and lbp seriously it's amazing!! Besides i'm pretty sure they said they were working on improving the moderation system... buy lbp and ps32010-01-17 18:32:00

I didint read the other posts in this thread, but apperantly there is new EULA published level rules, you have to make everything appropiate for 7 year olds.

If you look at how many active members on this site that are totally "bonkers" on playing LBP, I think you are safe knowing that what Incinerator is saying is echoed throughout the community. Trust us... you are going to love it!!

Just keep a copy on your moon. Try not to be offensive in your levels as well as treading on thin ice towards things that could possibly upset an 8 year old's Mom and you should be fine.

There are some levels that have been moderated incorrectly, but have come back. There is still an issue, but usually only the most popular levels are being impacted. Mm is working on addressing the issue by instructing the Mods who work at Sony the correct practices. So it isn't 100 percent guarantee, but I would say you are 99.9 percent safe as long as you listen to my advice.

Let us know if you have any questions!

Well it's been three times in a row. Once with me and twice with mine and Evan's level. It's just ridiculous.2010-01-17 19:42:00

If you know, could you list the reasons they were modded? That might be beneficial for the OP.2010-01-17 19:48:00

Perpetual I got modded because it had "hell" in it. Mine and Evan's level got modded the first time around because the parrot said "bloody", and the second time around...Well...There was no reason at all as far as I know.

EDIT: I've just realised something, the reason why it got moderated the second time was entirely my fault...I went a little bit postal in the comments section because the guy who made Pacific Island accused us of trying to reach highest rated, and basically implied that our level wasn't moderated but instead we purposefully removed the original level ourselves despite it having 10,000 plays. I actually went ballistic so...Yeah...The blame's on me.

Oh well, highest rated level creators will be like that for as long as the game is played. The only guys who have a level on the highest rated page (well used to) are fiesty frog and eighth wonder, who also had the same problem as you did. Only, they never got thier levels back.2010-01-17 20:12:00

Now I'm more concerned than before, what with the new PEGI Guidelines in play, the game could very well be ruined....2010-01-18 17:11:00

It never really was an issue in my opinion and won't get any worse with the new rules.2010-01-18 17:17:00

It's not at all a problem for most of us. Just keep copies of your levels and don't upload any content that could offend and it's fine. Really nothing to worry about for most players and you really shouldn't let it put you off getting this brilliant game.2010-01-18 17:33:00

If you use something like this to decide if you want the game or not, you probably won't get it anyway...2010-01-18 17:40:00

I think you are being overly concerned. Unless of course you are thinking of creating content that somewhat crosses the line.

I was just wondering, given I'm only a few weeks away from being able to get the PS3 and littlebigplanet, I thought it prudent to cover all bases

Well, you have the PSP version, correct?
Then you'll enjoy the PS3 version.

Do not let moderation stop you from enjoying one of the best PS3 games out there. Levels are moderated only when they violate the conditions specified in the EULA. Levels that are "griefed" unfairly are usually reinstated. Keep backups of your work and copies on your moon, and you cannot lose your level permanently.

As long as you don't create questionable content there is no problem. There is an extremely small chance that your level will be vandalized with grief reports, and generally these are famous levels with hundreds of thousands of plays. Grief reports do not amount to moderation - only review by a moderation team, who makes the decision.

Keep in mind, that any comments or pictures you post on levels are also subject to moderation. Offensive remarks or pictures made on your levels by others do not cause your level to be moderated, contrary to popular belief.
